00:22When he was in his 20s, he was in a horrible car accident,

00:25leaving him with traumatic brain injury.

00:26His mom and dad assigned him to the state and abandoned him to facilities.

00:32For 46 years, he was passed around from facility to facility to group home to group home.

00:39Learn at one point he was homeless, too.

00:41Over the years, he's always told people that he's had a daughter.

00:44Nobody's ever believed him.

00:46For my entire life, it was very difficult to find my dad.

00:49He was always a mystery and just a story told very shortly by my mother.

00:53He has no teeth, no ID, no birth certificate.

00:57After decades of mysteries, she got a phone call that changed everything.

01:01I got a phone call from a doctor at a hospital in Las Vegas.

01:05I learned that my father hadn't eaten for two weeks.

01:08They wanted me to sign a DNR and also to sign him over to hospice,

01:12as he didn't want a feeding tube and he didn't want any assistance to keep him alive.

01:17For years, I had thought he was dead.

01:19I knew I needed to fly from Florida to Vegas the very next day.

01:22Reuniting with his daughter changed David's whole perspective on life.

01:26He remembered me and he started to brighten up.

01:28I witnessed him eat three meals while I was at the hospital.

01:32We saw each other, looked like it gave him the will to live.

01:35He started moving around.

01:36He was walking on his own with assistance, but he had more energy.

01:41He had more life.

01:42She realized that she needed to do everything in her power to help her dad through whatever time they had left.

01:47The home that he was at, there was no nurse that visited every day.

01:50The clothes that you see him in here were soiled.

01:53They smelled awful.

01:55We took him to his new hospice place.

01:57Got him more clothes, warm jacket, snacks, food.

02:01I did everything to make sure that his stay was going to be good.

02:04Despite all this, she decided to make a life-changing decision for both of them.

02:08Something convinced me that I needed to bring him to Florida.

02:12On my last day, I sat down with my dad and told him.

02:16We both sobbed.

02:17He's so excited.

02:19He's a proud grandfather of five children.

02:22However, that was not meant to be.

02:24A month after their reunion, David passed away.

02:27She is eternally grateful for the time they spent together.

02:29After going home for just a little bit of, I mean, it was such a short period of time before it happened.

02:34I'm numb.

02:35I'm devastated.

02:36That's not fair.

02:38We went to the facility.

02:40We laying in the bed with him, calmed him and comforted him.

02:44After we left, we went immediately to go grab him a cup of coffee.

02:50I'm so glad we had this adventure and I would do it over and over again.

02:56He couldn't have spent his final days in any better way.
