00:10The compact electric subcompact from China starts here in Germany with an entry-level price of around âŹ23,000.

00:25BYD promises particularly good value for money for all models,
00:32as even the basic version comes with extensive safety, comfort, and entertainment features.
00:39The Dolphin Surf is available in three model variants, based on two battery sizes and two power levels.
00:48The entry-level version, the Active, is equipped with a 30kWh battery and is powered by an 88hp electric motor.
00:55The range is around 220km according to the WLTP.
01:04Those opting for the boost version get the same motor,
01:07but in combination with a larger battery of 43.2kWh, which increases the range to over 320km.
01:14The Comfort model also uses the larger battery, but is combined with a front axle motor with 166hp.
01:25Its range is up to 310km.
01:31Acceleration from 0 to 100kmh takes 9.1 seconds, and the top speed is 150kmh.
01:38Combined energy consumption is specified as 9.9 to 50.5kWh per 100kmh.
01:45The Comfort variant can be charged particularly quickly using direct current with up to 85kW,
01:53from 30 to 80% in just 22 minutes.
01:56The Active and Boost versions support a maximum of 65kW for direct current charging.
02:03AC charging is possible for all versions with up to 11kW.
02:07BD promises generous space comparable to vehicles in a higher class.
02:11Four people can comfortably fit inside.
02:15The trunk has a volume of around 0.3m3 and expands to over 1m3 with the seats folded down.
02:27The heart of all variants is the so-called Blade Battery,
02:30which the manufacturer says is particularly safe and environmentally friendly.
02:34It is said to be free of thermal runaway and contain no toxic heavy metals.
02:39This level of safety is supported by the iPlatform 3.0 and the compact electric motor.
02:48Also standard are a 10.1-inch rotating touchscreen with an infotainment system,
02:53HYBE voice control, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
03:00The technical equipment is complemented by USB-A and USB-C ports and NFC access,
03:05which allows the vehicle to be opened using a smartphone or wearable device.
03:12Standard driver assistance features include a tire pressure monitoring system,
03:15intelligent speed limiter, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking,
03:20collision warning, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition.
03:26Furthermore, all models feature a vehicle-to-load function,
03:29which can be used to power external electrical devices with up to 3.3kW.
03:34The comfort version also boasts a 360 degrees camera,
03:40electrically adjustable and heated front seats, and wireless smartphone charging.
03:44All Dolphin Surf variants are available in Lime Green, Polar Night Black, Apretty White, and Ice Blue.
03:53The interior is optionally trimmed in black or grey vegan leather.
03:58The promotional prices are valid until June 30, 2025.
04:04The boost version costs approximately 22,500 euros.
04:08The comfort version costs just under 27,000 euros.
04:12After that, regular prices apply.
04:14As with all new BYD cars, the Dolphin Surf comes with a 6-year warranty or a maximum of 150,000 km.
04:22The blade battery and electric motor are additionally covered for 8 years or a maximum of 200,000 km.
