00:00Welcome to the Tuning Blog video on the BYD Seagull.
00:10Before we get started, don't forget to subscribe to stay up to date on the latest in the automotive world.
00:17Today, it's all about the most affordable electric car from the Chinese manufacturer BYD,
00:22which is being touted in Germany as an interesting alternative to the VWID one.
00:27BYD has set its sights on conquering the European market with the SEL, which will probably be called the Dolphin Mini here.
00:37But while demand for smaller electric cars is still difficult to estimate, BYD is already attracting attention in China with its bestseller.
00:47The SEAL models are very popular there and even became the country's best-selling electric car in August, with almost 41,000 units sold.
00:57BYD has kept the SEA as affordable as possible for the Chinese market.
01:02The model starts at €900 there and, with its compact design and very small footprint, is perfect for city traffic.
01:10Incidentally, the Mini Lamborghini design is no coincidence, as the person responsible for the look is none other than former Lamborghini designer Wolfgang Egger.
01:19The vehicle is technically well-equipped.
01:24A rotating screen with a diagonal of 10.1 inches ensures a modern infotainment experience and there are three versions to choose from.
01:33With a battery that provides a range of up to 300 kilometers, the basic version already offers a lot of power.
01:40The top version, called the Flying, can even manage over 400 kilometers and is priced at the equivalent of €11,000.
01:49While BYD is already celebrating success in its home country, expansion into Europe is firmly on the agenda.
01:57BYD has already announced that it will launch on the European market in 2025.
02:02However, this will probably cost around €20,000.
02:05This pricing would still make the Dolphin Mini one of the cheapest mini-cars available in Europe.
02:15The model is also sold in South America, but at €17,000 it gives an idea of the possible price range in Europe.
02:24BYD's plan to gain a foothold here seems determined.
02:27However, as the company is already responding to possible tariffs by opening factories worldwide in order to be able to operate flexibly.
02:37Interestingly, the company, which is also backed by star investor Warren Buffett, has now become the world's largest supplier of electric vehicles.
02:46The market is highly competitive, but BYD has achieved strong sales this year.
02:53In August alone, 373,000 electric cars were sold, which represents an increase of 36% compared to the previous year.
03:03An impressive performance that has put the Chinese manufacturer in a leading position.
03:09While European manufacturers continue to struggle with slumping sales, BYD is able to report new records.
03:16Overall, BYD is doing a lot of things right with its seagull model and is not only being celebrated in China.
03:22It remains exciting to see how the European market accepts the vehicle and whether the Dolphin Mini will be just as successful here.
03:31Finally, we would like to remind you to subscribe so that you don't miss any news about this and other exciting topics.
03:37Thanks very much.
