00:03Today we're talking about the new BYD E7 electric sedan,
00:07which was developed specifically for the Chinese market.
00:11With the E7, the Chinese manufacturer BYD is presenting an attractively priced electric car
00:17that is particularly tailored to use in taxi fleets and ride-hailing services
00:21and may also appeal to younger private customers.
00:23The technical equipment of the 4.870 meters long model is deliberately simple,
00:31but scores points for its good price-performance ratio.
00:36It is powered by an electric motor with 100 kilowatts of power,
00:40which offers a maximum torque of 180 Nm.
00:46Energy is supplied by either a 48 kWh battery or a larger version with 57.6 kWh.
00:54Both batteries are made from BYD's own LFP cells.
00:59In the Chinese CLTC test procedure,
01:02which tends to indicate more optimistic ranges than the WLTP standard in Europe,
01:06the smaller battery should be sufficient for around 450 km
01:10and the larger one for up to 520 km.
01:14The manufacturer states charging times is only around 30 minutes,
01:18without specifying the exact charging window.
01:21In China, the times often vary from 20% or 30% to 80% charge level,
01:27which makes comparability difficult.
01:32With a width of 1.9 meters,
01:34a height of 1.5 meters,
01:36and a wheelbase of 2.8 meters,
01:38the BYD E7 belongs to the electric mid-range.
01:40It is striking that the vehicle does not belong to any of BYD's well-known series,
01:47neither the Dynasty series with models like Han or Tang,
01:50nor the Ocean series with vehicles like Dolphin or Seal.
01:53The sober model name E7 reflects this independent approach.
02:01The marketing approach is also unusual.
02:03The E7 is offered exclusively via BYD's corporate customer website.
02:08The CNI5 post-platform sees this as a clear indication that the focus is on the shared mobility sector,
02:15particularly taxis and ride-hailing companies.
02:19Nevertheless, some observers speculate that younger customers might also find the model attractive,
02:25particularly because of the price.
02:26With a starting price of approximately 13,000 euros and a top price of around 14,300 euros,
02:35the E7 is significantly cheaper than many other electric cars.
02:41For that, you get, among other things,
02:43a 528-liter trunk,
02:46a panoramic glass roof,
02:47a 15.6-inch touchscreen in the interior,
02:49and an additional 5-inch cockpit display.
02:52The equipment also includes the simplest version of the God's Eye driver assistance system,
