00:01Bursatu's deepening internal turmoil could doom the party before the next general election if its leadership crisis remains unresolved, political analysts say.
00:11Asmi Hassan of Academy Nusantara said the party was facing an existential threat with internal bickering having reached a point of no return.
00:20Asmi said Muhyiddin Yassin should have stepped down when he first announced he would not defend the Bursatu presidency, but then he turned back 180 degrees.
00:31According to Asmi, the hope of stabilizing the party now depends on a decisive move by the top leadership, whether Muhyiddin remains in power and Deputy President Hamza Zainuddin's faction is expelled, or Muhyiddin voluntarily steps down and Hamza takes over the leadership.
00:46Maslan Ali from University Technology Malaysia agreed that Bursatu's internal crisis is becoming increasingly serious, but he believes the party can still remain competitive in the elections as long as it stays allied with PAS.
01:02However, he warned that if Perikatan Nasional splits and PAS leaves Bursatu, then Bursatu's survival would certainly come to an end.
