00:00We support unpaid air traffic controllers, just sharing information here.
00:04All right. Thank you very much.
00:09You can take one of these though. Thank you.
00:11Okay. Support unpaid air traffic controllers, we're not being paid. Thank you.
00:14Okay. We support our air traffic controllers working without being paid.
00:17I'm sorry? We support our air traffic controllers, they're working without being paid.
00:20Oh, that's right, they're on strike. No, no, no, they're just not being paid.
00:23They're still working. They're working. They're part of the government furlough.
00:26They're part of the government shutdown. Yes.
00:28Yeah, so we're out here to educate the public and talk about the impact the shutdown has on our members,
00:39on air traffic controllers and aviation safety professionals, that we continue to come to work each and every day.
00:45We're a proud bunch, we're a professional bunch, and we're all showing up to work every day for no pay.
00:52So we're asking the public support to help us end the shutdown.
00:55It's affecting us because we have to figure out what we're going to do with what little money we may have left in savings,
01:00or how are we going to figure out are we going to get more money coming in?
01:04Are we going to start driving Uber? Are we going to start doing maybe DoorDash?
01:07Figure some other kind of way to generate income while still going to our jobs in air traffic control facilities
01:13and doing the work in aviation safety professions across the country without getting paid.
01:20Do you support unpaid air traffic controllers?
01:26They're like many Americans, another paycheck to paycheck. Today we missed our first paycheck.
01:32The really uncertainty is now is when am I going to get paid? It's not just preparing for this one paycheck.
01:38We don't know if it's two paycheck or it's three paychecks.
01:41And that's really why we're out here educating the flying public today to help us spread the message and tell Congress to end the shutdown now.
01:48Many of our controllers can make it without this first paycheck. They've been on the job for 10, 15, 20 years.
01:56They plan for days like this. But we have a lot of new controllers who are still in training,
02:03that aren't at a high level in income, and they can't handle what's happening to them today.
02:09Those are the very people who have now looked for side jobs.
02:13You've heard the stories of controllers working at an Uber or a DoorDash.
02:19They've sent a message, open up the government and the shutdown.
02:24Figure out how you guys can negotiate. Have a conversation.
02:28But pay us in the interim. Make sure we get paid for the work that we provide to the American people.
02:35...their leadership, August will reference who's here, and then we'll take some questions.
02:40The Democrats right now fear the far-left activists more than they fear air traffic controllers, border patrol agents,
02:49American service members, and so many others missing their paychecks.
02:53They fear the Marxist insurgents, like Mondani, more than they fear families and children going hungry from lapsed benefits that keep food on their tables.
03:03They simply fear losing their own political positions next November if they don't appease the angry far-left base right now.
03:15We know that because even their own constituents now are begging Democrats to stop the political games and reopen the government.
03:22So I just want to say this simply to our Democrat colleagues. You have an off-ramp now.
03:26You painted yourself into a corner, but here's your off-ramp. The unions, the largest unions, are saying please do this.
03:33You can claim that as cover and say that you had to do it. Reopen the government. Get it working for the people. It's our number one priority.
03:42Democrats continue to make clear that we will sit down with our Republican colleagues anytime, anyplace, here at the Capitol or back at the White House in order to reopen the government,
03:57enact a bipartisan spending agreement, enact a bipartisan spending agreement that actually meets the needs of the American people,
04:04and address the health care crisis that Republicans have caused that is devastating people all across the country.
04:12We appreciate it.
