Democrats are holding their ground as the U.S. Senate fails for the fourth time to pass a bill to end the ongoing government shutdown. With federal agencies partially closed and pressure mounting, both parties continue to trade blame over spending priorities and border security demands. Watch.

00:00We've asked Republican leaders for months to sit down and talk to us, talk with us.
00:05They've refused and barreled us into a shutdown.
00:08They thought they could bludgeon us and threaten us and scare us.
00:13It ain't working.
00:14My caucus and Democrats are adamant that we must protect the health care of the American people.
00:22Republicans have instead, they've wasted a week, refused to talk, and exacerbated pain for America.
00:28As people get their new health care bills and they see how much it is, it's shocking how much it is.
00:37We Democrats are going to be there day in and day out and say, the president and the Republicans did it.
00:43We've asked Republican leaders for months to sit down and talk to us, talk with us.
00:49They've refused and barreled us into a shutdown.
00:51They thought they could bludgeon us and threaten us and scare us.
00:56It ain't working.
00:58Because my caucus and Democrats are adamant that we must protect the health care of the American people.
01:06And so now, rather than working with us to end the pain Americans are feeling because of a shutdown,
01:15Republicans have instead, they've wasted a week, refused to talk, and exacerbated pain for America.
01:22Instead of trying to come to the table and negotiate with Democrats and reopen the government,
01:26The White House and fellow Republicans have vowed to make this a maximum pain shutdown, they call it.
01:33Unfortunately, the maximum pain falls on the American people, and the American people know it.
01:39They know it's not Democrats doing this maximum pain.
01:43It's vote and Trump and the Republicans.
01:45Just again, completely, he thinks this is funny.
01:50He thinks that people are going to joke about this.
01:52I promise you, they're not.
01:54They are seeing their premiums double right now.
01:58So why is this something we're standing up for now?
02:01Because it's happening now.
02:02Ask anyone you know.
02:04It is not a December thing.
02:06It is not a January thing.
02:07It is a now thing.
02:09And we are asking them to meet with us to do something to help fix this health care crisis.
02:17And it's something they can do.
02:18It's something I am sure many of you have heard them behind closed doors say they actually want to do
02:24because they've realized so many of their rural constituents,
02:28and when you look at the number, you realize so many Republican constituents
02:32know that this is a plan that are relied on by small businesses, by individual farmers,
02:39by people that don't work at big corporations so they can't afford their own health care.
02:44That's what happens.
02:46And I just cannot believe that they've decided instead to repost offensive deepfake videos
02:54than actually get to work, open the government, and do something about health care.
02:58As both Amy and Brian mentioned, as people get their new health care bills
03:05and they see how much it is, it's shocking how much it is,
03:10and they go and say who did it, and we Democrats are going to be there day in and day out
03:13and say the president and the Republicans did it,
03:17and that's why we feel we're, you know, that's why we feel we're in a strong position.
03:21We'll see you next time.
