00:00Hey, real quick, the Baltimore Ravens are in an interesting spot.
00:03They were favored by essentially a touchdown when we got word that Lamar Jackson was a
00:07quote-unquote full participant at practice before their game against the Chicago Bears,
00:11and they beat him by a couple touchdowns.
00:13So if you laid the touchdown, you win.
00:15So this is not about you got screwed based on your bet, but a lot of people that put
00:19money on the Ravens before the game were very concerned because the spread came all the
00:23way down to two points because Lamar Jackson didn't play.
00:27He was scratched from the game, and Huntley was their starting quarterback.
00:30Because Cooper Rush has been terrible for them.
00:32And then, of course, because of the gambling scandal in the NBA, everyone starts going
00:36bat poop crazy about, well, wait a minute, what's going on here?
00:38That's not right.
00:39So let me just walk you through real quick.
00:41The reason NFL teams are forced to put out injury reports midweek is specifically for
00:46gamblers.
00:47That's the NFL being in bed with the gambling community.
00:49They want you to make the most well-informed wager.
00:51And that goes back even before the legalization state-to-state-to-state for online wager.
00:57We're a couple decades into this, yeah.
00:58That's why they used to do weather reports on Fridays.
01:01Look at them.
01:01I think of gamblers and eggs, that kind of stuff, right?
01:03So, again, it didn't affect the outcome if you bet on Baltimore.
01:07They covered the number anyway.
01:09But it now creates an issue because everyone's so sensitive to the allegations of, you know,
01:14guys cheating or teams, you know, negatively impacting the outcome of games without the
01:19public knowing about it.
01:20So the NFL said we are going to investigate the Baltimore Ravens because how did Lamar Jackson
01:26go from a full participant during the week to late Saturday being a possible scratch?
01:33And, of course, Sunday morning we wake up to the fact that he's not going to play because
01:37everyone that made the wager late about a touchdown was like, this isn't fair.
01:41This isn't right.
01:42I want to get my money back.
01:43Well, you can't get your money back when that happens.
01:45So good for you.
01:46You're covered anyway.
01:47So all the yelling was for nothing.
01:49But it shows you that there's a bigger problem here.
01:52And people are now very sensitive to how the NFL controls information.
01:56Here's the interesting part of this, though.
01:59While the NFL came out and said, we are going to investigate the Ravens handling of Lamar Jackson,
02:05his availability for the game, the Ravens came out and put out their own statement and
02:11said, as soon as we realized that he was not going to be able to play because of the hamstring
02:17injury, we notified the NFL and we got their guidance on what we should do from a standpoint
02:25of announcing that he was first probable to doubtful to out.
02:31Those are kind of like the three branches on the tree there as you're giving people updates
02:35and guys recovering from injury.
02:36He was never questionable, which is an option.
02:38They never made him questionable.
02:40It was, he's starting, he might not play, he's not playing.
02:44Those are the three pieces of information we got.
02:47So the Ravens did something very interesting.
02:50They flipped this and put it back on the NFL.
02:53Good.
02:54They said, before we announced anything, we reached out to the NFL and their words, not
03:00mine.
03:01We called the league offense to get their guidance on what to do.
03:06And here's the story.
03:07Lamar Jackson's been dealing with a bad hamstring.
03:10So when they said full participant, he was running the scout team offense for the Ravens
03:16and Huntley was getting all the reps for the Ravens first string.
03:20So did he practice?
03:22Yes, he did.
03:22But he was not practicing with the number ones on the Ravens.
03:26He was showing them the look for the scout team stuff.
03:29But yes, he was on the field.
03:31But this is where this stuff gets tricky now.
03:33The NFL wants you to think, well, you know, we are the moral police here and we will make
03:40sure all wrongs are righted.
03:42So we are now going to investigate what the Ravens did here.
03:46Did they lie to the American public?
03:47Did they lie to us?
03:48And the Ravens is like, not so fast.
03:52We sought your guidance and we followed what you told us to do.
03:57So maybe we should investigate you guys.
