00:10He's led the Vikings to a perfect record, 11 touchdowns, four interceptions, and certainly

00:15you could speak to this as well, as being told basically, we don't think you're good

00:18enough in a couple of different spots, and then all of a sudden finding your way on Minnesota.

00:22You think he's found a home there?

00:25I sure hope so, but you never know.

00:26They drafted J.J. McCarthy, and what's the future with him?

00:30I love this story with Sam Darnold.

00:31Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, very similar stories, to be honest with you.

00:34They were the first and second pick of the draft.

00:37Sam went to the Jets.

00:38They were a dismal of an organization at that time.

00:40They haven't kept the draft picks that they had, especially the first and second round

00:46picks that they had when he was drafted.

00:48So he went through a bunch of coordinators.

00:49He went to Carolina also with Baker.

00:51Last year, he spent a whole year with San Francisco, saw what winning football was about,

00:55system football was about, and then he got his chance.

01:00With J.J. being hurt, unfortunately for him, he's got a chance to be the guy without the

01:05crowd, without the fan favorite behind his back.

01:09So they're 5-0.

01:10He's in a great offensive system with Kevin O'Connell.

01:13They were the Vikings.

01:14It's just fun to watch him operate and get a chance.

01:17A lot of these quarterbacks, sometimes they're throwing the fire too fast, and they're not

01:21giving them a chance to grow.

01:23We look at a lot of the Super Bowl champions, whether Tom Brady, he sat, Eli Manning, he

01:27sat, Kurt Warner, he sat, Aaron Rodgers, he sat, I sat.

01:32Like Steve Young, they sat.

01:33There's a period of growing and maturing a quarterback.

01:36And so finally, Sam's in a position now where he's had a chance to grow, go through some

01:41adversity, and now he's ready to take off with it.

01:43And very talented guy.

01:45And I just want to see him have success.
