00:00New York Jets get rid of Sauce Gardner, the most overrated cornerback in all of football.
00:05Good cornerback. He ain't Terrell Rivas. And I think it's a great deal.
00:08Yeah, that's how my day started yesterday. The New York Jets trade Sauce Gardner and what
00:13they get not one but two first round picks from the Indianapolis Colts. I went and checked.
00:18You know, the Colts do not have a good pass defense. They are 26 in the league.
00:23And this is a team that right now is the number one seed and the best team.
00:27They're right there with New England as far as record goes at seven and two, but they
00:31have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. But you got to be able to stop the pass too, especially
00:35if you're going to be playing games indoors like they are. That's true. If they get home
00:39field advantage, you know, weather's not a fact. You could throw to football, right?
00:43So I think they overpaid to get them. But great job by the New York Jets, GM Uji, to get two
00:49first round picks, one next year, one in 2027. So I was thrilled about that.
00:54Because again, Sauce Gardner has been called for more penalties than any cornerback in football.
01:00And I know he's going to say, but you know, how many yards do I give up? They don't throw
01:04at him that much. And when they do throw at him, he typically commits a penalty. I mean,
01:09that's just a fact of Sauce Gardner. And then the doozy one came in because our best defensive
01:14lineman is Quinn and Williams. All right. Quinn and Williams gets traded to the Dallas Cowboys
01:19who clearly need help against the run. And a guy who also does get to the quarterback
01:23more than any other 300-pound guy in the league. He's got like 40 sacks in his thus far Pro Bowl
01:29career. He goes to Dallas. We get another first round pick and a second round pick. So we got
01:35rid of two guys, faces of the franchise for sure, homegrown guys, which is why some Jet fans
01:41didn't love the feeling of trading away two guys that are in their 20s, who we drafted,
01:46who's supposed to lead this defense, you know, to the promised land. And we wind up getting
01:52three first round picks, a second round pick, and a couple other players. You know, A.D. Mitchell,
01:57Adonai Mitchell, who we get from the coach. You might remember when Joe Douglas was the Jets
02:01GM. He was thrilled when Indy took him because we wanted Malachi Corley. Malachi Corley had three
02:07catches in his career and is no longer in the NFL. Mitchell's not great, but he's better.
02:11Yeah, maybe. Yeah. And we get a nondescript defensive line. We got Malachi Smith, a former
02:16first round pick, but he has not played well so far. Right. So I'm not worried about what those
02:20guys are going to do. They may not even be on the team next year. But here's why I love it. And I
02:25want to be clear. I don't like it. I love it. Because for all the emotions and romancing we did
02:32about having Sauce Gardner, rookie, defensive rookie of the year, having Quinn Williams, Pro Bowl,
02:38defensive tackle, homegrown guys, guys that we drafted, you know, Joe Douglas drafted both of
02:44them. What did they accomplish here? Like, let's be honest with each other. Let's not, you know,
02:49invent things that didn't happen. They've never been a part of a winning season ever. The best the
02:55Jets did with those guys on the roster was seven wins. So why are we going crazy and crying about the
03:03fact that we traded them? You know, you have to build through the draft. It's the easiest way,
03:07the best way to build and then have the money available to go cherry pick a couple of free
03:13agents year after year.
