00:00Cracker Barrel is responding to criticism over its rebranded logo.
00:06The Homestyle Food Restaurant issued a statement Monday titled,
00:09Our Promise to You.
00:11The statement reads in part,
00:13We're truly grateful for your heartfelt voices.
00:16You've shown us that we could have done a better job sharing who we are and who we'll always be.
00:22The new logo displays simple text reading, Cracker Barrel.
00:25The rebrand removes a previous image of Uncle Herschel, as well as the text below that once read,
00:31Old Country Store.
00:33The change prompted backlash from prominent conservatives, including President Trump,
00:38who claimed the chain had gone woke, and others calling the new logo soulless.
00:43As a result, Cracker Barrel shares fell about 7% Thursday.
00:47Some customers also complained about new styling at stores,
00:50which some speculate is an attempt to appeal to younger generations.
00:55while also abandoning the company's southern roots.
00:58But what's important is things that people love about Cracker Barrel,
01:01the soul of Cracker Barrel is not changing.
01:03The rocking chairs are still there, the fireplace is there, the peg game,
01:07all the things that make Cracker Barrel Cracker Barrel.
01:09The restaurant chain also says Uncle Herschel is not going anywhere,
01:12and will still be featured on road signs and the menu.
01:15The statement concludes with,
01:18Our promise is simple.
01:19You'll always find comfort, community, and country hospitality here at Cracker Barrel.
01:24Uncle Herschel wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
