00:00Well, we're a little far from April Fool's Day, but Howard Stern still managed to fool
00:05listeners Monday morning as questions swirl about his future with Sirius XM.
00:10This is, I know, not the voice that you expected to hear.
00:17At 7 a.m., Sirius subscribers tuned in expecting Stern.
00:22It is I, Andy Cohen, and this is our first day broadcasting on Andy 100.
00:30The announcement, also posted on the Stern show's X account, sparked multiple news reports
00:36claiming Stern was leaving after nearly 20 years at Sirius.
00:40But about 10 minutes later, the man himself took the mic to clear things up.
00:45Sirius XM and my team have been talking about how we go forward in the future.
00:51Back in August, fans began to wonder if Stern's five-year contract signed in 2020 would be renewed.
00:57At the beginning of September, he promised an update, but delayed it until Monday's show.
01:02Stern stopped short of announcing a new deal, but just last week, Sirius executives said
01:07they wanted to keep him on the air, calling it a matter of finding terms that made sense.
01:12At 71, Stern joked that he'd love to retire, but said he can't or people will think he was pushed out.
01:19He also shot rumors down that his show was canceled for being too woke, calling those claims completely false.
01:26With Straight Arrow News, I'm Kennedy Felton.
