00:10before it hits our screens. But now some YouTube creators say the platform is making unannounced
00:16AI changes to videos, altering looks and effects without permission.
00:23A Reddit thread first spotted the issue. One user's VHS-style videos were automatically
00:28altered with effects that changed the original look and there was no way to turn it off.
00:33After multiple complaints, YouTube confirmed it is testing features to improve video clarity,
00:39tools similar to smartphone unblur and denoise functions. The YouTube liaison clarified that
00:45these enhancements do not use generative AI or upscaling. He explained YouTube uses machine
00:51learning similar to smartphone computational photography to enhance video without changing
00:56resolution. According to YouTube, machine learning helps to flag content that may go against their
