00:00President Trump is suing The New York Times, its publisher Penguin Random House,
00:04and several reporters for $15 billion in a defamation and libel lawsuit.
00:12The suit filed Monday in federal court accuses The Times of damaging Trump's personal and business
00:19reputation through a series of articles and a book published last year. A lawsuit obtained
00:24by The Washington Post claims three articles, including a pre-election editorial claiming
00:30Trump was unfit for office and a book by Penguin titled Lucky Loser, How Donald Trump Squandered
00:36His Father's Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success. Trump's lawyers claim the coverage caused
00:41significant harm, including a drop in the stock price of Trump Media and Technology Group.
00:48The Times responded Tuesday, calling the lawsuit without merit and vowing to continue to pursue
00:53the facts without fear or favor. The lawsuit comes days after Trump threatened legal action
00:59over a Times story on a bawdy 50th birthday note to Jeffrey Epstein, allegedly bearing Trump's
01:05signature from 2003 before he was president. Trump denies any wrongdoing and says he cut
01:11ties with Epstein before his legal issues began in 2006. The president announced the legal action
01:17against The Times in a Truth Social post, marking his latest legal move against media outlets he claims
01:23are biased. Earlier this year, Trump sued The Wall Street Journal for $10 billion over the same
01:29Epstein note. In July, he settled a $16 million lawsuit against CBS parent company Paramount over an
01:36edited 60 Minutes interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. And last December, he reached a $15
01:42million settlement with ABC News over comments made by anchor George Stephanopoulos. For more
