00:00Newsmax announced it's filed a lawsuit against Fox News over allegations its competitor forced
00:06distributors into contracts aimed at excluding other right-wing networks, violating antitrust
00:12laws in the process. Filed in a Florida federal court, the complaint accuses Fox of exclusionary
00:22tactics such as barring providers from carrying or restricting other conservative news channels.
00:28It also claims those who chose to carry Newsmax face financial penalties. Newsmax attorneys also
00:35accuse Fox News of using online smear campaigns and hiring private investigators to target company
00:43executives to harm Newsmax's reputation. The suit argues these alleged tactics by Fox News have
00:50essentially monopolized the market of right-leaning news channels and prevented competitors from
00:56millions in revenue. Newsmax is seeking three times the amount of damages it claims Fox News' practices
01:03has caused it to lose in revenue, though an exact figure hasn't been disclosed. The complaint also
01:10asked for a court order ruling Fox's practices illegal under federal and state antitrust laws.
01:18Fox News responded to the lawsuit in a statement, saying Newsmax cannot sue their way out of their own
01:24competitive failures in the marketplace to chase headlines simply because they can't attract viewers.
01:31Fox News has been atop the cable news networks over the last two decades. Newsmax did see growth
01:38following the 2020 election but failed to sustain that surge. According to Adweek, Fox News saw an average
01:45of about 2.6 million viewers compared to Newsmax's 196,000 in 2025's quarter two.
