00:35President Trump says he has reached a major new milestone in his Gaza peace plan,
00:40announcing what he calls a historic agreement for Hamas to disarm.
00:44In a Truth Social post Thursday night, Trump announced what he says is, quote,
00:48a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza,
00:54calling it a monumental step toward lasting peace and that Israel will have the security it deserves.
01:00The Board of Peace says Hamas has agreed to a roadmap for the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire after
01:05months of negotiations.
01:07Trump also said the agreement would put Gaza under a new Palestinian government.
01:12Hamas has not publicly confirmed the agreement.
01:15Meanwhile, Iran's military claims it launched drone strikes against U.S. military sites in Kuwait overnight,
01:22saying it targeted aircraft shelters, satellite communication systems,
01:26and equipment storage facilities in retaliation for American strikes on Keshem Island.
01:31U.S. Central Command has not confirmed any attacks.
01:35President Trump is threatening to pull the nomination of his own attorney general pick,
01:40rather than give in to Republican holdouts.
01:43The standoff began after the Senate Judiciary Committee delayed a vote on Todd Blanche's nomination.
01:48Republican Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Tom Tillis of North Carolina say
01:53they won't support Blanche unless the Justice Department puts in writing
01:57that a controversial tax settlement cannot be used to revive the scrapped anti-weaponization fund
02:03or shield future Trump tax filings from IRS audits.
02:07Speaking to reporters, Tillis said, quote,
02:10somebody's telling him to not do what Blanche said they were going to do.
02:14Whoever that person is, is giving the president bad advice.
02:17The only reason why we wouldn't move forward with this language
02:21is because that same advisor wants to bring it back to life at some point.
02:25On X, Cornyn said President Trump is wrong if he thinks the pushback stops with just the two of them.
02:32Trump called Blanche a star on Truth Social, criticizing both senators
02:36and saying he'd rather temporarily withdraw the nomination than give in to their demands, writing,
02:42I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd's name if they did not do the right thing
02:47and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office.
02:50Cornyn and Tillis are both not on the November ballot.
02:53But even if Trump pulls the nomination, Blanche would likely still remain in charge of the Justice Department.
02:59Under federal law, the deputy attorney general automatically assumes the duties of the attorney general when the office is vacant.
03:06Since Blanche is already serving as deputy and acting attorney general,
03:10a withdrawn nomination may change his title, but not his day-to-day authority.
03:16Just days after a deadly shooting at a Seattle food festival, the city's police chief has resigned.
03:22John Barnes submitted his resignation Thursday, and Mayor Katie Wilson accepted it, saying multiple factors led to the decision.
03:30Barnes came under fire after the shooting that killed three people, including two bystanders and one of the teen suspects,
03:36over the department's slow and inaccurate public updates, including erroneously reporting that two suspects had been arrested when only one
03:44was in custody.
03:45Barnes also faced questions about frequent travel outside Seattle.
03:49His family lives in Chicago, and he was in Dallas for a law enforcement conference the night of the shooting.
03:55Three Seattle council members criticized losing another police chief, saying the city has now gone through four chiefs in just
04:02two and a half years and needs stability.
04:05The Police Officers Guild, meanwhile, accused Mayor Wilson of creating confusion and sending mixed messages about Barnes' future.
04:12Down south, a judge sentenced a Georgia father to prison time for his role in his son's deadly school shooting
04:20in one of the first cases of its kind in the country.
04:2355-year-old Colin Gray received 15 years in prison after a jury found he ignored repeated warning signs about
04:30his son's mental health,
04:32then bought him the rifle used in the Appalachee High School shooting in September of 2024.
04:37Prosecutors had asked for an 80-year sentence.
04:41I don't have a concern that you're going to commit future crimes.
04:44You're 55 years old and you have no criminal history.
04:47You didn't intend to commit these crimes that you've been convicted of.
04:52But the loss here is profound.
04:56But I still have to distinguish your acts from the malignant heart and the acts that Colt Gray committed upon
05:06the Appalachee School.
05:08Outside the courtroom, District Attorney Brad Smith said the case should be a warning to other families.
05:14That people need to understand that this is a phenomenon going through our society and do not take these things
05:20lightly.
05:22I own guns. I'm not against people owning guns. I own them myself.
05:27But when you see someone in distress, please take away their access to guns.
05:33A jury convicted the father, Colin Gray, earlier this year of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and other charges.
05:41He's the first parent in Georgia convicted in connection with the mass school shooting committed by their child.
05:47And the first in the country convicted of a murder in a case like this.
05:51His attorneys plan to appeal.
05:53The sentencing comes just two days after his son, Colt Gray, now 16, was sentenced to life in prison without
06:00the possibility of parole.
06:03More evidence in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping investigation has led to another dead end,
06:08as the Pima County Sheriff's Office in Arizona also faces the threat of legal action.
06:14Investigators say they were unable to develop a usable DNA profile from a hair found inside Nancy Guthrie's home in
06:21Tucson.
06:21Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News the sample was just one part of the broader DNA analysis still underway,
06:28though he did not say what other evidence is being tested.
06:32Meanwhile, lawyers for two men detained during the search for Guthrie, along with one man's mother,
06:38have filed a notice of claim against Sheriff Nanos and a detective.
06:42A notice of claim is the required first step before filing a lawsuit.
06:46One of the men, Carlos Palazuelos, was held at gunpoint and detained for hours, 10 days after Guthrie's kidnapping.
06:54Authorities released him without charging him.
06:56The notice argues investigators have never publicly cleared Palazuelos or stated he is not a suspect,
07:02leaving him to live under what his attorneys call a cloud of suspicion.
07:06Police handcuffed the second man, Daniel Maddox, and held him for several hours that same day at a home investigators
07:13were searching for evidence.
07:15The claim also includes Maddox's mother, who owns the home, alleging investigators damaged the property during the search.

07:28Now imagine misplacing a flash drive that contains the only master copy of an unreleased Hollywood thriller starring Nicolas Cage.
07:37That's the center of a new $105 million lawsuit.
07:41A UK-based production company is suing Netflix, claiming the streaming giant failed to safeguard the master copy of the
07:50unreleased World War II thriller Fortitude starring Nicolas Cage, Ben Kingsley, and Ron Perlman.
07:56The lawsuit says an associate producer hand-delivered the drive to Netflix for an internal screening with instructions to delete
08:04the files afterward and return the drive.
08:07But nine days later, Netflix reported the drive had been stolen from its Hollywood office.
08:13Netflix denies its responsible, saying the movie was delivered without standard security protections.
08:19The filmmakers are now seeking $105 million, saying they spent seven years and more than $45 million making the film,
08:27and that the missing master copy has jeopardized its release.
