00:00Finally this morning, if you've ever dreamed of finding buried treasure, well, somebody actually
00:07has. Searchers pulled more than 1,000 silver and gold coins worth the cool million dollars
00:13from the ocean floor of Florida's aptly named Treasure Coast. The loot comes from a Spanish
00:19fleet that sank more than 300 years ago in a hurricane. And yes, they are legitimate pieces.
00:24How neat is that? They were discovered by Captain Levin Shavers and his crew aboard the MV Just
00:31Right, which sounds like the kind of boat that would stumble on a pirate payday, right? Historians
00:36say the coins may have spilled from a single chest as the ship broke apart. Some still
00:42have visible mint marks from Spanish colonies like Mexico, Peru, and Bolivia. How neat is
00:47that? And the best part? These coins are not just treasure, they're tiny time capsules
00:52from the Spanish Empire's Golden Age.
