00:04Now the Texas camp is planning to reopen next summer, and families are pushing back.
00:11For parents like Cece and Will Stewart, the announcement hits close to home.
00:16Their eight-year-old daughter still has not been found.
00:19In a letter to camp leaders this week, they wrote,
00:21you are preparing to invite children to swim in the very river that may still hold our daughter's body.
00:27Instead, the stewards said Camp Mystic must hold themselves accountable for what happened on July 4th.
00:34On the day of the disaster, camp owner Richard Dick Eastland received a severe weather alert at 1.14 a.m.,
00:40but evacuation didn't start until about an hour later, according to the Washington Post.
00:45Eastland died trying to lead campers to safety as rushing waters tore through the camp.
00:51Camp Mystic says parents who lost children will be invited to take part in rebuilding.
00:56The camp also says it relies on faith and a century-long mission to provide a Christian experience for girls.
01:04The property at Cypress Lake is away from the Guadalupe River and escaped damage in the July flood.
