00:00All right, y'all, after a week of chatter, the Rangers are signing 29-year-old free agent
00:05Vladislav Gavrikov. The coveted defenseman agreed to a seven-year, $49 million contract,
00:11and he will likely pair with Adam Fox. He actually agreed to less money to come to New York.
00:18Gavrikov was a six-round draft pick in the 2015 draft and spent his first four seasons
00:23with the Columbus Blue Jackets before being traded to the LA Kings at the 2023 deadline.
00:30He's coming off of a 30-point season where he logged a career high in minutes,
00:34which was a little over 23 minutes of ice time per game.
00:38Now, he's a big physical defenseman and a piece that the Rangers have desperately needed.
00:44But will the price tag of signing Gavrikov affect a potential offer sheet of Will Cooley?
00:51Now, there are still a lot of questions to be answered before the Rangers open camp,
00:54and that's in about two months.
