00:00It's probably more enticing for especially those top guys to add a player like
00:04that. You know, you can forget about last year.
00:07Look what we're trying to do to build this thing back.
00:10I told you it was a retool. We're trying to retool.
00:15We've got an emergency episode of up in the blue seats for you guys.
00:19After a pretty big draft day for the Rangers on Friday,
00:23Chris Drury went into the day with two first round picks to make and came out
00:29with an NHL regular high end goal scorer and one of the most NHL ready
00:34defensemen available in the draft at fifth overall biggest sharpshooter.
00:39Pavel Dorfeev is a Ranger.
00:41The price was the lower of their two first,
00:44the number 26 pick one of their four third rounders this year,
00:49the number 92 pick and a top 10 protected first in 2028.
00:55And I've heard what everybody else has.
00:57There's a deal in place for, for him. He's an RFA.
01:01So that makes sense.
01:02Seven years at 11 million per is the expectation.
01:06So pretty nice splash for the Rangers.
01:08And this is exactly the kind of moves that they should be making.
01:10I think, I mean, what was your reaction to the trade, Brian?
01:13Yeah. Well, look,
01:15when you see sort of where the market was and the JJ Paterka goes from Utah for
01:20just one year, you know, he got there in the Josh Doan trade.
01:23And Josh Doan seems to fit in nicely in Buffalo.
01:26He moves on to Boston for two firsts.
01:30I mean,
01:31Pavel Dorfeev is a more of a proven goal scorer.
01:34I think, look, he got real hot in the playoffs, had 12 goals.
01:41Look, you can, you can,
01:43there's like six guys in the league you can bank on that are that consistent,
01:48that good, that have almost no holes in their game.
01:50I mean, buying goals is expensive.
01:52That's the cost of doing business.
01:54When you have accumulated picks and you can make the picks,
02:00or if you want to be relevant, a little bit quicker,
02:03you have a top, top line winger.
02:05This, this guy left shot plays on the right.
02:08I think if you're looking at power play,
02:10he can be that trigger man on that side.
02:13That gives Adam Fox two options.
02:15If you want Mika on a flank and you want Dorfeev on a flank,
02:18you know, I think I just,
02:21it adds to high end scoring.
02:24It puts players.
02:26You don't have to force feed a Will Cooley on the second line,
02:30or even on the first line.
02:32This is barring everybody staying healthy, obviously,
02:34but it just sort of slots people correctly.
02:37I think now they're going to probably hang on to a Troach.
02:41Vince Trocek, I would, you know,
02:44especially where he sits in terms of cap wise and what he can,
02:48I mean, what it's,
02:51it's probably more enticing for,
02:52especially those top guys to add a player like that.
02:56You know, you can forget about last year.
02:58Look what we're trying to do to build this thing back.
03:00I told you it was a retool.
03:02We're trying to retool quickly.
03:03And yeah, it's, it's a steep price,
03:06but I think Boston paid more for less player.
03:09I know,
03:10but Tarek is probably,
03:11I think he's a year younger,
03:12maybe two years younger,
03:13but yeah,
03:14it doesn't matter.
03:15I think,
03:15I think score a fav as they call him.
03:18He can get hot.
03:19He's he's an elite scorer,
03:2137 goals.
03:22Like he had 49 goals last year,
03:24regular season playoffs.
03:26Yeah.
03:26I mean,
03:27some highlights that I wrote down here,
03:28he's one of just 12 NHL players to score 35 plus goals in each of the last
03:34two seasons,
03:3533 power play goals over the last two seasons are tied for the second,
03:39most in the NHL 12 goals.
03:41He scored in Vegas,
03:42the Stanley cup final finish.
03:43We're second only to Brett Howden and 64 points last season,
03:48a career high 37 goals.
03:51I mean,
03:51we touched on a little bit,
03:52but how do you see him fitting into this Rangers team?
03:56Obviously top six.
03:57I mean,
03:58the power play it's,
04:00it's an exciting element to add to a already to a already pre-established good
04:06group on the power play.
04:07I think.
04:07Yeah,
04:08I think so.
04:09If you,
04:09if you think of it,
04:10I flip it around and think of it as a penalty killer and you're scouting it
04:13out and trying to kill a penalty against a group who has a very elusive
04:19distributor and Adam Fox already.
04:22Now you have a,
04:23a one timer or you could overload the left side with JT and Dorothea.
04:28You can keep Troach in the bumper.
04:30You can have Mika on his flank just bombing away.
04:33And it's like,
04:34all right,
04:34pick your poison.
04:34And so you're going to have to take something away as a penalty kill.
04:37You're going to have to give something up.
04:39And I think both.
04:41It's advantage at and Dorothea can find themselves in more space,
04:45depending on how you want to kill it.
04:48It's,
04:48it's going to open up options for them.
04:49They're going to have opportunity to get the puck in the scoring area.
04:55And those two can score.
04:58In terms of team connections,
05:00he shares an agent with Igor Shosturkin.
05:03And apparently he's trained in Connecticut with Ben Prentice,
05:07who a lot of Rangers trained with.
05:08So he might already be familiar with some of the guys in that locker room.
05:12But the other thing I wanted to touch on,
05:14which I find pretty fascinating is there's just been a lot of discourse about how
05:18this type of contract affects the market going forward with the cap rising.
05:23I mean,
05:23how do you see this deal aging under the cap for the Rangers?
05:27I mean,
05:28it's,
05:28it's fine.
05:29As long as every,
05:30you know,
05:31you perform,
05:31if this guy gets you 30 goals every year,
05:33that's what you're paying for.
05:34I mean,
05:35look,
05:36there's a situation going on in Dallas right now.
05:38It's turning into a bit of a soap opera with Jason Robertson,
05:42who is a 40,
05:4340 guy and Dorfey is not there yet,
05:45but turning down 120 million,
05:49allegedly from Seattle,
05:50turning down different opportunities to play.
05:54Like he wants 14 million and he wants to stay in Dallas.
05:57Well,
05:58Miko Rantanen just signed for 12.
06:00Not quite Miko Rantanen.
06:02Now,
06:02although I think Jason Robertson's a hell of a player,
06:04he's a really good player.
06:07If I'm Jim Nill,
06:08it's kind of like,
06:09all right,
06:10well,
06:10no.
06:12And it's,
06:12it's just interesting to see how that's all going to play out.
06:15Look,
06:15Chris Drury went,
06:16they got the trade.
06:17Sounds like the deal's done.
06:1911 million AAV.
06:21Sounds like a lot.
06:21It's going to sound like a lot next summer when players are signing for even
06:24more.
06:26The cap is going up and the top guys command the most that when they put in a
06:32salary cap,
06:33it took a little longer than I thought,
06:35but the middle class of player is going to get squeezed a little bit.
06:40Although we've seen some deals in like the five year,
06:44$20 million deals.
06:44I thought those might go away,
06:45but those are pretty much the backend guys.
06:48A lot of defensemen are getting sort of deals like that.
06:52You're just going to see less and less of those because you're going to need
06:55all your bullets for these top guys.
06:57And if they ever become available,
06:58you're seeing this trade market.
06:59Now you're going to have to have the capital to go after them and pay them
07:04what they command.
07:06Were you surprised that the Rangers didn't have to give up number five for
07:09him?
07:13Not really.
07:14I mean,
07:14if it was number five,
07:15it probably would have been just like straight up.
07:18I don't think you would have had to add.
07:20And they probably liked what they saw.
07:22They obviously have a need and we'll get into it too,
07:25but they're thin on D and they certainly,
07:29I mean,
07:29we saw what they,
07:30what they did in the second round as well.
07:31They added another D and McBeath,
07:33a big six,
07:34two plays out in the WHL.
07:37There's a need there.
07:39And,
07:39you know,
07:39your dance partner,
07:40what's sort of,
07:41what position are they dealing from?
07:43Right.
07:44You know,
07:44Kelly McCrimmon,
07:45I think he's done an unbelievable job in Vegas.
07:47Obviously they're back a couple miles this year,
07:48but,
07:50you know,
07:51when you have success like that,
07:53it's going to breed a problem somewhere.
07:55And that's usually with the cap and,
07:58you know,
07:58Dorfea was making 1.8 this year,
08:00I think for 37 goals,
08:03obviously he was going to get a raise.
08:05Yeah.
08:05I don't know if they were able to unload like an Aiden Hill or,
08:10you know,
08:12even another forward.
08:14I was thinking they'd probably try and move hurdle,
08:15but obviously this was just an easier,
08:19simpler way to keep sort of some of the guys probably didn't want to let
08:24him go,
08:24but yeah,
08:25they weren't in a position of strength because they were in that cap
08:28crunch.
08:29Yeah.
08:30I definitely think that number five pick was really important for them to
08:35make.
08:35when you look at who the Rangers have in the pipeline right now,
08:38their defensive depth pool is especially shallow,
08:42like you mentioned.
08:43And with how many high end D were available at the top of the draft,
08:47I felt like they really wanted to make that pick.
08:48And so they did taking left-handed D Albert Smiths out of the Finnish elite
08:54league.
08:55Chase Reed fell further than I thought he would.
08:58I thought they might go with him,
09:00but,
09:00but Smiths is arguably the most NHL ready defenseman,
09:05especially in terms of his build and strength.
09:08So I feel like the retool timeline of theirs had them leaning toward a player
09:14who was more likely to be ready sometime in the next couple of seasons.
09:19What was your take on the pick?
09:21Yeah,
09:22that makes sense.
09:22And he turned a lot of heads this year.
09:26He's playing and fitting in nicely in a pro league in Finland.
09:31He played in Germany as well.
09:32I think he went to Munich.
09:34So I didn't,
09:35I didn't see a ton of them,
09:36but when you play,
09:37he was on loan under 18s,
09:40world juniors,
09:43Olympics and world championships all within like 18 months.
09:46A lot of hockey.
09:47And he's playing in these pro leagues.
09:49He's kind of bouncing around.
09:51Mean,
09:52like a mean player who fits in on the big ice.
09:55He could skate with those guys.
09:57Look,
09:58you have Adam Fox.
10:00You like Adam Fox.
10:01You want to keep Adam Fox and keep,
10:03keep them happy.
10:04You have Gabbro Cabo.
10:06I thought was great.
10:06If this kid could come in and I mean,
10:11we,
10:11we got,
10:12we,
10:12we won a lot of hockey games with Mark Stahl and Dan Girardi guys who really knew how to defend,
10:16really knew how to transition.
10:18You know,
10:18I'm not going to blow you away with points,
10:20but I think the Rangers sort of lacked some of that.
10:23Yeah.
10:24Especially breaking out.
10:25There was,
10:26there's some guys that have some promise and the guys that certainly had flaws to their game on the back
10:32end this year where breakouts were tough.
10:36And sort of simple and not chaotic defensemen who can just do their jobs are so,
10:43so valuable.
10:44Now with Chase Reed,
10:45like he came on the scene and made a big splash this year and just kept climbing.
10:50And he's one of those guys that I think is like a really efficient player.
10:53But I,
10:54you know,
10:55he,
10:55it's hard to go after a guy and make them the first defense from taken with the level of competition.
11:02Yeah.
11:03He's playing against his peers.
11:04That's very high level.
11:05And I think the kid will be a good player and have a good career.
11:08A lot of defensemen that I work with at the NHL network really liked him as the top guy.
11:13Yeah.
11:14But there's pros that scout this and see this and they've obviously were impressed with what Smits could do at
11:21the pro level.
11:21Now,
11:22the one that really surprised me was like a Keaton Verhoff who was,
11:24you know,
11:26before the season was going to challenge Gavin McKenna as first overall.
11:30I thought he had a really good year at North Dakota.
11:33But again,
11:34I didn't get to watch him closely enough.
11:36And you kind of see the highlight package.
11:38You see bits and pieces of his game here and there.
11:41So maybe he was a year or two longer than Smits would take to get comfortable in the NHL.
11:46It takes a couple hundred games for D to get really comfortable in the NHL.
11:49Most of them.
11:51But if he can be serviceable on a bottom pair,
11:53you can shelter him a little bit.
11:55He's just adding another piece.
11:56A big time player.
11:59Yeah.
11:59I know left shot D is the Rangers priority right now.
12:03And I think that applies to both present and future.
12:07I had heard that Drew Fortescue did better than they thought that he would in his stint last season.
12:15But I think they are still leaning toward him needing some more time to develop, understandably.
12:21So they'll probably be looking to address that in free agency or a trade.
12:26But to add Smits to a pool they're clearly trying to address, I think, is a major win for the
12:32organization.
12:32Just in terms of getting an exciting player in the pipeline who are realistically close to being NHL ready.
12:38Whether that's at some point next season, following season, whatever it may be.
12:43But some other highlights I wrote down on Smits.
12:46Like you mentioned, spent the last season playing professionally in Finland's Liga and for Munich in the DEL.
12:52So he's been playing against men as a teenager.
12:55Had a busy 2025-26 season.
12:59First full pro campaign.
13:00The Olympics.
13:01While juniors were championship.
13:03And he was the youngest player and lone draft eligible prospect to compete in the Olympics.
13:07He recorded two assists in four games for Latvia.
13:11And he had that hit on Matthews in the Olympics that everybody was talking about.
13:16That kind of really thrust him into the spotlight.
13:20Oh yeah, that's a good way to do it.
13:25Yeah, really good day.
13:27Really good day for Chris, Jury and the Rangers.
13:29You got to give the snaps where they're due.
13:34Big, big splash.
13:35Pretty big splash.
13:36I liked it.
13:37I liked it a lot for them.
13:38No, it's exciting.
13:39It really is.
13:41You know, and leading into day two.
13:43Obviously, yeah, they're going to go with another D.
13:47Yeah, more D.
13:49They're going to, you know, again, I'm not watching amateur hockey as much.
13:54I mean, the amateur hockey I watch, they're 11 years old.
13:56So, I'm not quite ready to give my scouting report on those kids yet.
14:00But it's, look, this is, it's a new beginning for so many.
14:07And you saw just, it's, it's a hard league and teams are trying to get better.
14:15We saw kind of how the whole thing finished.
14:18Vindication for Carolina.
14:20A lot of people think, criticizing them for their style of play and construction of team
14:26while they're laughing now.
14:27So, yeah, I was one of them a little bit, but they got some found money in the resurgence
14:33of Taylor Hall.
14:34They guessed right with Logan Stankoven on a trade.
14:37And it's just wild to see, like, different teams taking swings at different players, right?
14:44So, Carolina is a great example with Ratnan.
14:46And realizing it doesn't work out and having the ability to pivot.
14:50Now, the Rangers have the ability to pivot.
14:51I think they have the ability to go into free agency and do different things.
14:54I think Trocek stays.
14:56But they still, I mean, he's still got tons of value.
15:02And it's quieted down, I think, for the better because of the soap opera that's going on
15:09with all these players from the Team USA Olympic team.
15:14It's wild.
15:16Well, we have a lot to touch on that.
15:18There's a lot of points that we should open up on that.
15:20But first things first, the other trade that they made on the first day of the draft,
15:25Brett Burrard prospect swap with Montreal for William Trudeau.
15:30Apparently, the Rangers had, not apparently, they did have an offer in on Mason McTavish,
15:36who ultimately went to the Blues.
15:38What did you think about that whole situation?
15:42With McTavish?
15:44Yeah, just the possibility of him going to the Rangers.
15:46Apparently, it was around a roster player was the Rangers' offer.
15:54And then apparently the Blues originally had the 11th overall on the table was reported,
15:59I think, by Pierre LeBron.
16:00And then they ended up, I think it was the 15th or something like that,
16:03they ended up sending something like that.
16:05Yeah, I mean, he's, if you get him at his best for what he's signed for,
16:11I think it's absolute, like, that would have been a great pickup for the Rangers.
16:19You know, it's, it doesn't, I don't know, it depends.
16:25A GM can love a player and a coach might not just, he just might not see it, might not
16:29fit.
16:29And with Anaheim, what they have up front is an abundance of talent.
16:34But what Joel Quindle did, he gave Jensen Harkins a role.
16:37He gave Jeffrey Vielle a role.
16:38Ross Johnson played a lot of hockey for Anaheim because he wanted certain roles to be defined.
16:44Right.
16:45You have seven or eight guys that are top six players that had trouble, you know,
16:49finding their role if they were, had to adjust and play a bottom six role.
16:54So, you know, are you getting value out of them?
16:57Are you, are you getting from them what you're paying them?
17:00And that's when you move on from certain guys.
17:02And obviously the trust probably wasn't quite there with Quindle and McTavish.
17:06I really liked the player.
17:09I think there's another level for him.
17:11And I think moving on, whoever gets him now, St. Louis gets him.
17:15You have a player that is certainly going to be motivated.
17:20Yeah.
17:21I don't think Anaheim's done.
17:22I still want Petrano back in New York.
17:24I think, cause he, he's a guy that can play in your top nine.
17:28He can play up and down and he's abrasive and he'll, he's just going to go straight.
17:35He's going to go fast.
17:36He's going to shoot a lot of hockey pucks at the net.
17:39And I think Mike Sullivan all year last year is talking about being more direct.
17:43I just think it's a great fit and a manageable cap hit.
17:50And I think Anaheim would probably want to move him.
17:53I just, I don't think they're done.
17:54And I think that conversation can keep going.
17:56Yeah.
17:56You didn't get McTavish.
17:57I think he's a good player, but you can just hang on to Troach and add a winger if you
18:02want.
18:02And that, that just makes you even more dangerous.
18:05And Frankie, when he killed penalties in Anaheim two seasons ago under, under job, under Cronin, they were dangerous.
18:15Like it, he had, you know, the shorthanded opportunities he created.
18:19It was, there's a role for him on a different team.
18:22It's just, again, him and the coach aren't, you know, linked up.
18:27And that's, that's just the way it is.
18:30There's more that's going to happen.
18:31You know, free agency is July 1.
18:33That's, people are still, teams are still positioning.
18:36And if you look at the Metro, like Washington just got better.
18:40Right.
18:41I think.
18:43I think they overpaid for Alex stock in terms of years and maybe dollars, but they really wanted them.
18:48They get a Cairo.
18:49It's like.
18:51Yeah.
18:51I liked, I liked Cairo.
18:52I liked that.
18:53I liked it for them a lot.
18:55Which, which ones, which guy are you going to get?
18:56Right.
18:56These guys are flawed.
18:57If, if they're bonafide, like foundational pieces, they don't move.
19:03So there's something there that's not quite right.
19:05You get a new, like you have some new scenery and maybe some motivation and talent is there.
19:11So that's, what's going to happen in these trades.
19:15But if your division is getting better and you're last in your division, you need to get better.
19:19Correct.
19:20So what would be your pitch to Chris Drury to keep Vincent Chocek in New York?
19:27Oh, I mean, where are you going to get what he does for what he makes?
19:31Correct.
19:32I mean, hey, we just got Dorfea.
19:34We just added another thought, like, we still need you.
19:38Last year was last year.
19:40It's over.
19:41This is a new beginning.
19:42Like, it didn't go the way we wanted it to.
19:44This was the approach we took.
19:46We didn't get the high, high asking price we wanted for you.
19:49We value that much.
19:51We're not just going to give you away.
19:52We still want you.
19:53But if we were going to get all this back, you kind of had our hands are tied.
19:57No.
19:58All right.
19:58Well, we're keeping you because we still value you.
20:00Right.
20:02Yeah.
20:03I'm curious to see what ends up happening with that because that would be quite the turn of events.
20:08And I'd be curious to hear from Chocek about, you know, wrapping his head around coming back to New York,
20:15the conversation with his kids, because obviously that was a topic of conversation leading up to the deadline, how difficult
20:22it was to talk to his family about the impending trade.
20:25So, yeah, it'll be really interesting to see how that how that settles.
20:31You had well, just before we get into the Team USA stuff, I had written about this, but pretty self
20:39-explanatory.
20:39Brodzinski and Connor Sherry are expected to hit free agency.
20:43I don't think that should come as a surprise to anybody.
20:45Obviously, the Rangers want to create openings for their young players to come in and start becoming a younger, faster
20:52team in that regard.
20:54So that's a little update there.
20:57Brady Kachuk joins.
20:59Yeah.
20:59South Florida with his brother, Matthew, and all these USA Olympians seem to be reconsidering where they want to play
21:11this summer.
21:11What are your thoughts on this movement we're seeing in the NHL right now?
21:16Yeah.
21:17All right.
21:17So I'm going to start by saying they're all separate situations.
21:23There is a blanket over them all because of this narrative about the group chat.
21:28The USA group chat.
21:30The group chat.
21:31Dun, dun, dun.
21:32They won the first gold since 1980.
21:34They're allowed to walk together for something.
21:37It's an amazing accomplishment that they did for USA Hockey.
21:40I thanked them for it because I was excited.
21:42The kids love it.
21:43Everybody.
21:44Fantastic.
21:45Everybody loved it.
21:46The New York Post loved them for it.
21:48That's for sure.
21:48You know, but if you're a high, I mean, if you're on the U.S. Olympic team, you're a high
21:53level player and you play in a Canadian market, you're going to have to deal with some crap.
21:59Oh, they just traded Adam Edstrom.
22:01Did they?
22:03Yep.
22:03They acquired 148th overall pick from Nashville.
22:07Massimo Rizzo.
22:08Oh, yeah.
22:11They acquired the 148th overall pick from Nashville and Massimo Rizzo in exchange for Adam Edstrom.
22:18All right.
22:19So that's four.
22:19You bought a six gone.
22:21All right.
22:22Berard Brudzinski.
22:25Yeah.
22:27Go ahead.
22:28Sorry.
22:28Continue while I tweet this out.
22:30Yeah.
22:30Go ahead.
22:30So, well, my point was just like, it's untenable there for Brady.
22:37Are you going to resign?
22:38Are you going to resign?
22:39Do you want to join your brother?
22:39Do you want to play in the States?
22:40All these different things.
22:41Oh, you're an American.
22:42You don't really care about playing for the Ottawa Center.
22:44All of those, like, questions you shouldn't have to answer, especially when you're Brady Kachuk.
22:48If you watch him play for five seconds, you realize the guy is going to bleed literally, literally, for his
22:54team.
22:58So, moving him is one thing.
23:00How Bill Zito figured out a way to get him is wizardry.
23:05I don't know how he did it, but he did it.
23:10They're going to be the worst to play against.
23:12That sounds like the most fun hockey team, I think.
23:18I mean, imagine being on the Florida Panthers, and that's your lineup, and you have these lunatics every single night.
23:25They trade for Garnet Hathaway as well, who's a rat.
23:29I love them.
23:30Just a bunch of nasty, nasty guys.
23:33Just jerks.
23:35A bunch of mean guys.
23:37They're just going to – I mean, they've got two games against Tampa in the preseason again.
23:44People are going to get arrested from the ice.
23:49People are going to be taken out in handcuffs.
23:52I know.
23:52It's going to be like slap shot, but I'm going to watch.
23:55I'm going to watch those games.
23:58It better be televised in the preseason.
24:00I riot.
24:01Oh, my God.
24:02Yeah, I don't know.
24:03It's just – it's interesting.
24:04I mean, in the age with so much access and up-to-the-minute updates, Brady was probably just like,
24:11all right, whatever.
24:13And Steyo's probably sensed that.
24:15He makes a trade and gets what he gets for.
24:18I mean, Bill Zito, he's a wizard.
24:23Yeah, my thing is now that we are seeing this transition to a player's league where, you know, stars equipped
24:33with no-move clauses are the masters of their fate and, you know, can back their teams into corners, into
24:40trading them to where they need to go, where they want to go.
24:43You know, now this becomes a sort of game for the teams where you want to be a destination.
24:49You want to be a team that players want to go to, and part of that is obviously culture and
24:55organization, but also winning pedigree.
24:59Winning.
24:59Yeah, competitiveness.
25:01Like, that is huge, and, you know, I think of what's going on in Edmonton and the bit of all
25:09over the place that's going on over there.
25:11And in a couple years from now, when Connor McDavid is mulling over where he wants to go next, the
25:18Rangers need to be a premier destination that he would like to come to.
25:22You know, like, these are the sorts of things that teams and the Rangers need to be thinking about now
25:27that all these big-time names, you know, are choosing their destinations, essentially.
25:34Choosing the teams that they want to go to next, and that's going to be part of playing the game
25:37now going forward, I feel.
25:39Yeah, I mean, if there's precedent set where top, top guys can do that, then top, top guys are going
25:46to do that.
25:47They're not going to.
25:48I mean, in Connor McDavid's case, he's different.
25:52He got offered a deal, his eight-year deal that he finished just this year was more originally, and he
26:01said, that's too much.
26:03He was almost embarrassed by it, and he said, you can't build around that.
26:06Yeah, that's the type of guy you're dealing with with, Dave.
26:09Yeah.
26:10Not everybody's like that, and I'm not saying it could be, but he's like, no.
26:15And then he's like, I'll take a two-year deal.
26:16How much do you want?
26:17I'll just take the same amount.
26:18Sid, Sid's the same way, right?
26:20How do we build around this?
26:21Yep.
26:228.7 million.
26:24That was one of the best.
26:25Crazy.
26:26Like.
26:278.7 million.
26:30But it's.
26:30What an icon.
26:31Yeah, he's truly special.
26:34The.
26:36I don't know what's going to happen to him, and that's going to be fun to follow.
26:40I don't even really want to get into that, but.
26:45Doesn't matter, because the Rangers better be ready.
26:47Yeah.
26:48It'll be interesting.
26:48Yeah.
26:49And that's the thing.
26:50Like, if you win, or you show that you're going to win.
26:53Yeah.
26:53Dude, New York's the best.
26:55It's an unbelievable place to play.
26:56Yeah.
26:57You see that Knicks parade?
26:58You see that Knicks parade?
27:00Imagine.
27:01Just think about it.
27:02Yeah, you can steal a trash barrel if you want.
27:06Get fired from your Goldman Sachs job, or J.P. Morgan, whatever it was.
27:11You could get fired.
27:14Oh, God.
27:16Oh, I love New York.
27:18It's the best.
27:20Yeah.
27:20Unlike any other place.
27:21You win there, man.
27:23Yeah.
27:24You win forever.
27:25You win there, you win forever.
27:27If you didn't even win, we had a great run, but I still get to go down there, and people
27:33remember.
27:33It's fantastic.
27:35I mean, it's not easy to let you know when you're not going to win.
27:37The North remembers.
27:38New York remembers.
27:40New York always remembers.
27:42Yeah.
27:43Very exciting.
27:44Yeah.
27:44No, it has been really interesting.
27:47I mean, like, you know, and it's kind of funny when all this stuff comes out.
27:51Like, oh, yeah, Dylan Larkin, his four teams, or, you know, Dallas, Vegas, Minnesota, Brady,
27:58same thing, plus Carolina.
28:01But, you know, realistically, probably just one of those teams that are being put out to
28:06the media.
28:07It's who these players are saying, I'm only going there.
28:11We know that was the case with Kachuk, obviously.
28:14I mean, there was no way that they weren't going to pull that off, so.
28:19They didn't have to get rid of Lindell.
28:21No.
28:22No.
28:23I mean, it was, like you said, I'll be turning on the TV to watch that opening night.
28:29Just because I have to.
28:32Yeah.
28:33Yeah.
28:34Yeah.
28:35No, but, I mean, you've got to think about that now going forward with these no-move clauses.
28:42And you want to be on those trade lists.
28:46You want to be a team that these top guys want to go to.
28:51So, they have a bit of a window.
28:54You'll have to draft and develop.
28:55You have to build the right culture and have, I mean, I still don't think you need to coddle
29:02and cater to everything.
29:03It can't be an easy environment because this league's too hard.
29:08And, you know, we won a lot of games in a hostile environment because that's the one
29:12our coach put in front of us.
29:14And then when the game got hostile, we were very, very much.
29:17You were ready.
29:17We had no issues.
29:18Yeah.
29:23Well, really, really exciting podcast for us.
29:26I don't think Brian and I have smiled this much together in maybe a half a year.
29:32So, that's really exciting.
29:35And I think that's a good place for us to leave off.
29:37We have free agency coming up.
29:39They're wrapping up the second through seventh rounds of the draft as we speak.
29:44We'll have more coverage on it going forward.
29:47And free agency should be a fun one on July 1st.
29:50So, perhaps we will have another podcast shortly after that all wraps up.
29:55So, give us a thumbs up, like, and subscribe.
29:58Comment down below what you think of the Rangers trades that they made.
30:02Another D.
30:04Another one.
30:06You get a D.
30:07You get a D.
30:07You get a D.
30:09Charlie Morris.
30:11There you go.
30:12Very exciting.
30:13Yeah.
30:14So, we'll chat again soon.
30:15Bye.
30:18Bye.
30:23Bye.
30:29Bye.
