00:00After Clark Schmidt went down with a season-ending injury last week,
00:03the Yankees are now turning to a new face to try and help steady the pitching rotation.
00:0924-year-old Cam Schlittler will be making his MLB debut on Wednesday
00:13when the Yankees take on the Mariners.
00:16Now, Schlittler, who stands at a towering 6'6", 225-pound frame,
00:22was drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 MLB draft out of Northeastern University.
00:28In 15 games between double and triple A this season,
00:33the big righty has a 2.82 ERA with 99 strikeouts and 76 and two-thirds innings.
00:40Now, the Yankees desperately need help in the rotation
00:43after suffering another blow with Clark Schmidt tearing his UCL.
00:48Schmidt joins ace Garrett Cole, who's out for the year after getting Tommy John surgery in March,
00:53as well as Luis Hill, who is yet to make his season debut injuring his right lat in spring training.
01:00That's going to be a tough assignment for Schlittler as the Mariners rank sixth in baseball in home runs.
