00:00It's late October and Giants fans aren't looking ahead to the NFL draft like in recent years
00:05because New York has finally found its QB1. It's only been a small sample size but Jackson Dart
00:11has changed the conversation from the Giants need to draft a quarterback to the Giants need to draft
00:16to build around their young quarterback. He ran for one and threw for three TDs in the loss to
00:21the Broncos but you know what stood out to me the most? It's that kid's confidence. Here goes a
00:26couple plays from the Denver game that showed that Jackson Dart has arrived in this week's Blue
00:32Rush film breakdown. Jackson Dart definitely progressed as a playmaker and quarterback.
00:45They did it in 12 packets. They went down out to Denver and they did some good things within the
00:52offense this game in this loss. So let's watch this play. You see them 12 personnel. There's
00:58Daniel Bellinger, Theo Johnson, Lil Jordan Humphrey, Wondell Robinson. We'll watch it. We did get into
01:06this stack formation. Double tight ends.
01:11Saw him. Buy time with his legs. Throw the football.
01:19Down the field. Touchdown. Let's break this down. Let's look at this. Let's look at this a little
01:24bit and let's kind of see what he saw. Watch the play develop.
01:33Here. They're making this look like some sort of run play action but it's making it look like
01:37it's some sort of stretch play that's in the Giants arsenal. That's in their playbook in terms of
01:44running a stretch play to a double tight inside like this. You see what we call elephants on parade
01:49when it comes to the linemen. Hats down making it look like this like the run steps and the
01:56combinations it will look like if the Giants were running some sort of stretch play here with Tyrone
02:01Tracy Jr. Daniel Bellinger's running up the seam. Dio Johnson now kind of replaces is like that
02:09outside go route but they're running some sort of like seam concept here. Wondell Robinson has the
02:15dig. Lil Jordan Humphrey slams and then goes into his flat release. He's like that check down
02:22option. You see Jackson Dart great run action here
02:26and the entire time he's scrambling his eyes are down the football field.
02:34See the way he's able to step up in the pocket find like the holes the gaps
02:40within the protection and the leakage to step up and buy himself time right when he's making his move
02:49or he's stepping up in the pocket. Fungus seeing that and it looks like he's in some sort of duress and
02:55now from 5, 10, about 20, 22 yards out he's having to start to honor the possibility
03:05of Jackson Dart taking off and getting some sort of positive gain in this space right here. You see
03:12Mufanga starting to sit down and kind of starting to drive and not carrying belly over the top.
03:20There's also this in route run here as this kind of safety control just in case his eyes do get
03:27nosy and that's exactly what happens. So now that Jackson Dart is able to step up in the pocket
03:32keep his eyes down the field the entire time
03:36he gets to now reset in a clean pocket and let it fly.
03:42Daniel Bellinger right up the numbers. Safety in the middle of the field so he kept it up the hash.
03:51Again let's watch it here from the tight.
03:54That's why Jermaine Illuminor loves said he loves blocking for a guy or a quarterback that can move.
04:00helps the O-line here. You see Broncos. One, two, three, four, five. Five up. Two backers.
04:11And you've got the nickel wheel right there.
04:21So they're only rushing four. They're only sending four to get after him. And again you saw the run.
04:26You saw the run action. You saw how the offense line did a great job. The continuity. If I was to put on a stretch play
04:32right now it would want to look like pretty much identical or married footwork
04:38when it comes to trying to get these linebackers
04:41and these DBs to step up.
04:45I wouldn't even really say the pocket breaks down here.
04:49One of the Broncos' D-linemen are able to cross face
04:52and here Jackson Dart sees it and he just takes off here.
04:55Resets and now he has himself a brand new pocket
04:58to throw the football from.
05:01Clean. Big play within the Giants offense.
05:04Big play on the day.
05:06And he was able to do that
05:07in 12 personnel.
05:09Again, 12 personnel.
05:11Again, they go with this pistol look.
05:13They were running this when they were giving him
05:15a couple reps during the Cowboys game.
05:18Remember, Cascadaboo scored on the touchdown.
05:20The touchdown run.
05:21Now they have Theo Johnson lined up at the X.
05:26And they have the two receivers
05:27over to the strong side of the football.
05:30It's third and five.
05:32I'm sure this is the play he's going to want back.
05:34Obviously because not wanting to turn the football over.
05:39But they got after him.
05:40They got after him here.
05:41They tricked him.
05:42It happens.
05:43And obviously I have to put this on tape.
05:45And we'll watch this for a little bit.
05:50But this is part of his progression.
05:52This is part of having a rookie quarterback in there.
05:54I counted for three touchdowns.
05:55Well, through three touchdowns.
05:57Ran one on the day.
05:59Did have this interception.
06:01But the way he was able to bounce back from this.
06:04And he almost could have taken off.
06:05I wish he would have taken off here.
06:08So now that we've watched it.
06:09Denver has one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight up.
06:14One's going to drop.
06:15But it's looking like cover zero.
06:17Could it be cover zero right now?
06:19No.
06:19Because there's a safety hiding in the middle of the field.
06:22Maybe if he would have dropped down.
06:24It started to creep to play.
06:26Wandale Robinson.
06:27Yeah, you'd look at it.
06:28It's cover zero.
06:30But right now.
06:33Because this backer is kind of stepping.
06:35It looks like cover zero.
06:36One.
06:37Man to man.
06:38Man to man.
06:39Man to man.
06:40And right here.
06:41And we'll watch it from the tight.
06:43You'll have two backers in the A-gaps.
06:47And they ran the same blitz.
06:49Basically against the Jets.
06:50Only that this rusher ended up playing and being a spy.
06:56Let's watch it.
06:58Let's watch it from the tight.
06:59See what he saw.
07:01Obviously you want to burn that.
07:04At least take the sack to get them.
07:06To force them to call the timeout.
07:10Got to take the good with the bad.
07:13See these.
07:14I mean.
07:14They did a decent job with the protection.
07:17There's leakage here.
07:18There's leakage here.
07:20He's able to step up.
07:22Ah.
07:23He gets on his legs.
07:24And that messes up the throw.
07:25But we're showing that.
07:26Because he almost was able to get out of that.
07:30In the future.
07:31You want him to learn from this play.
07:33But watch how he responds after this play.
07:39And this is to show you how this kid is starting to get wise beyond his years.
07:45This is fourth and 18 and a half.
07:49Fourth and a 19.
07:50The Giants need it.
07:52Absolutely need a play right here.
07:55All the hope.
07:55Light on him.
07:59Making a play here.
08:01At quarterback.
08:02Kicking the ball to his wide receiver.
08:05His top receiver of the day.
08:07His top receiver on the season right now.
08:09Wandale Robinson.
08:11Real quick with the concept.
08:13He's trying to split.
08:15Either.
08:16He's running the inside go route here.
08:18Up the numbers.
08:19Or it's like a deep.
08:21Like a deep corner.
08:22For him to throw it up and over.
08:25And to see what this.
08:26One.
08:26Trying to out leverage the safety.
08:28Two.
08:29Try to make this corner.
08:31Fall off.
08:31So he can hit.
08:33Wandale Robinson on the squirrel route here.
08:36But since it's 19 yards.
08:37Wandale is going to be a little short.
08:39But he'd be expecting this ball.
08:42He'd be.
08:42If he caught the ball here.
08:43He'd be expecting to come back to it.
08:46Catch it.
08:46Make a move.
08:47And know he has to get up field.
08:49To get the first down.
08:50Jackson Dart has to scramble.
08:52And I'm going to tell you a couple things.
08:53What I like about the scramble.
08:55Or the by time.
08:56In a little bit.
08:58But he scrambles.
09:00And watch the dart.
09:01He's able to deliver.
09:03On the run.
09:05Across the body.
09:07On the run.
09:08A play needed to be made here y'all.
09:11This is a franchise quarterback.
09:13Making a franchise throw.
09:18Big play needed to be made.
09:20And he did it with his mobility.
09:21He did it with his pocket presence.
09:27Athleticism.
09:31And he got tore up while he did it.
09:36And he got hit with the roughing the pastor.
09:38Broncos rushing four.
09:42Running stunts.
09:45Giants offensive line.
09:46Doing a great job.
09:47Holding up.
09:48But here's what I like about Jackson Dart.
09:52How he's able to manipulate the pass rush.
09:55Look at him taking a deeper drop.
09:57Putting his foot into the ground.
09:59On that final drop step.
10:02And reset.
10:03And taking off.
10:04In the gap.
10:05Here.
10:06In the C gap here.
10:07To have extra time.
10:10To throw the football.
10:11Down the field.
10:14By exaggerating.
10:16Or backing up.
10:17A little bit more.
10:18On his drop step.
10:19He's forcing these edge rushers.
10:21Or these pass rushers.
10:23To go up.
10:25Two.
10:25Three extra yards.
10:26Than what they normally would.
10:28On his regular drop step.
10:29From the shotgun.
10:31And that's buying his receivers time.
10:33To get down the field.
10:35He knows that he would be protected.
10:37Because he's getting the tight end.
10:39Theo Johnson.
10:40And Tyrone Tracy Jr.
10:43He has both those guys.
10:45Chipping.
10:46And getting out.
10:47In the flat control.
10:49And he knows.
10:49You don't want to take the flat here.
10:51Obviously.
10:52You're not going to want to take the flat.
10:54Because it's 4th and 19.
10:57You know that you got to get ready.
10:58For the pitch back.
10:59If you had to throw it to the flat.
11:01But don't.
11:02That's just there.
11:03For extra protection.
11:04To buy you a little bit.
11:05Extra time.
11:06To widen these pass rushers out.
11:10A little bit more.
11:12To give you.
11:13A little bit of extra pocket.
11:15And for you to be able to step up.
11:17Buy some time.
11:18And look at his eyes.
11:19Or down the field.
11:21The entire time.
11:23Dime delivered.
11:25He has arrived.
11:28Dime delivered.
11:29And he took the hit.
11:30Just watch the.
11:32The rough in the pasture real quick.
11:38Took a shot.
11:40Delivered it.
11:42First down.
11:43Huge play.
11:44Last but not least.
11:49Game on the line.
11:52Heavy.
11:53Heavy personnel.
11:54Empty formation.
11:56Calls his own number.
11:58Quarterback power.
12:00Follows his block.
12:02He's able to get low.
12:03Get skinny.
12:04And get vertical here.
12:07Take flight.
12:08Fought his way up in there.
12:1137 seconds left in that game.
12:13Looking back.
12:13You wish he would.
12:14I wish he was down.
12:16Right here.
12:16So they forced.
12:17Denver to call a timeout.
12:19And then they could have scored.
12:21Or maybe even ran it down a little bit more.
12:23Then score once or twice.
12:24But.
12:24Hey.
12:25This was Jackson Dart.
12:26Taking control of a football game.
12:28And what everybody thought was the potential game winner.
12:33But he really showed up.
12:35He really showed out.
12:36And he got all the respect from Jonathan Cooper.
12:39In that Denver Broncos defense.
12:42Got respect from the Giants fan base.
12:44For the way that he was able to calm himself in the moment.
12:48And make plays.
12:50Big plays.
12:51In the biggest moment of this football game.
12:53And bounce back.
12:54The Giants now have a quarterback to where you don't have to look for a quarterback in the next draft.
13:00You look for pieces to build around the quarterback you now have for the future.
13:06And that is Jackson Dart.
13:07And that is Jackson Dart.
13:08Okay.
