00:00the next question sir i have a question is it permissible to open the holy quran on the phone
00:08without performing wudu open and read it the question posed was that is it permissible
00:20to read the quran on the phone on any smartphone and now it's available there are many quranic
00:27apps you download it so if you open on the phone without doing wudu can you read it or is it compulsory
00:33even while reading the quran on the phone iphone or tablet you have to ever do regarding the question
00:41that can we touch a quran and now i'm talking about the most of then i'll come to a tablet or a
00:46or electronic device first we'll discuss on the topic is it permissible to touch the quran the
00:53musaf of the quran without wudu there is a verse in the quran where people normally quote of sura
01:00waqia chapter 56 verse number 77 to 80 that none shall touch the quran except those who are mutaharin
01:12now this people prove from this verse that because of this verse the quran is very clear cut allah
01:19says that no one can touch the quran except in wudu you have to be pure this is a misconception if you
01:24read this verse and the context and nuzuli quran whether you read ibn qasir or any of the tafasir
01:29it says that this verse was revealed when people laid a allegation that the prophet is receiving these
01:36messages from the city the verse was revealed none can touch it except those of mutaharin now this what
01:43they're talking about touching is not the most of the quran is talking about the tablet preserved talking
01:50about the lohim hafuz not about the most of the quran and when it says except those are mutaharin it's
01:56not talking about the person being in a state of wudu it's talking about those not about physical purity
02:01it's talking about everything spiritual everything this is referring to the angels to these mutahari this
02:08most of the quran of surah chapter 56 verse 77 to 80 when the word mutaharin is used it is not referring
02:15to a human being being in wudu it's talking about those absolutely pure talking about the angels so
02:21anyone using this verse of the quran to prove that it should be wudu is totally wrong this is talking
02:27about the lohim hafuz and it is referring to the to the angels to reply to the allegation that the prophet
02:35is receiving from the satan so satans cannot come anywhere close to the tablet well preserved where the
02:41original lohim hafuz is there now come to the question that is it compulsory to be in wudu
02:50when you touch the quran there is no quranic verse that tells you should be wudu but there's hadith of
02:56the prophet that when he sent a letter to the people of yaman he said that none should touch the quran
03:03except those who are pure now there is difference of opinion among the scholars whether is it for a
03:09person to be in wudu to the quran the majority of the scholars say yes you should because the word
03:16purity has three levels that you should not be in ajasad and and the quran says that every mushrik
03:25is not just now here it's talking about impurity of soul not impurity of body
03:31so when they are saying that the mushrik is is not just means impurity of soul that's one level of
03:36impurity the second is if a person who is in janaba he is in major impurity or ceremonial impurity
03:46even though he is called he may not be in wudu and if he's not in ajasa he's not in ceremonial impurity
03:57if he's not ejaculated if he didn't have a section of intercourse if the lady is not going under
04:02menstruation then she is yet considered pure even if she is not in wudu but that's called as the minor
04:09state of purity and the third level is if you are not in wudu or that if you are in wudu then you are
04:21totally pure that means you are not even in minor impurity so three types of impurity one
04:28imperative of kafir or mushrik the second is imperative of najasa because of menstruation
04:33ejaculation and third imperative is if you are not in wudu so if you are not in wudu then you are in
04:38minor impurity if you are not in wudu but if you are not in wudu then you are minor impurity if you have
04:47done ejaculation or menstrual cycle or or intercourse then that's called a major impurity so scholars
04:54differ so but the majority of the scholars say that you should be in wudu to so the scholars differ
05:02what did the prophet mean when he said what type of purity event that you should be touching the quran
05:09so if it meant that purity of uh only of the soul that is therefore you are not in muslims or if it
05:18meant only purity from the major impurity that is ejaculation or menstruation that means okay fine you
05:27can't touch the quran if you are not in wudu if it meant that you should not be minor impurity also then
05:32you should be in wudu so the major of the scholars say that you should be in wudu but there are scholars
05:40who say there's no evidence so being in wudu is not farad but all agree it is mustab to be in wudu
05:47so while touching the musaf of the quran it is mustab to be in wudu some scholars say it is farad
05:52some scholars say it's not farad but those also say it's not farad they do agree it should at least be
05:56mustab and scholars agree unanimously that if you are major impurity if you are in najasa or if you are
06:07have done ejaculation or intercourse then you should not touch the quran physically
06:18now coming to the question that whichever school of whichever scholars you believe in whether it's a
06:23farad to or not to be in farad can we touch the mobile can we open the quran on the mobile and read
06:32it or on a tablet or on a computer or any electronic device all the scholars unanimously agree that the
06:38ruling for touching a musaf a copy of the quran is not the same for electronic device whether it be a
06:44mobile phone whether it be a smartphone whether it be a tablet whether it be a computer this doesn't apply
06:50so there is no question that you should be in wudu all the scholars honestly agree that if you're
06:54reading the quran because all the scholars agree that reading the quran you don't have to be in wudu
07:00so if you open the quran on iphone and touch the iphone on a tablet and touch the tablet or on a laptop
07:07or touch the laptop on a computer touch the computer all scholars immensely agree that there is no
07:13requirement to be in wudu when you're reading or touching the iphone or the smartphone or the
07:21tablet or a laptop or a computer all unanimously agree that electronic device you don't have to be in
07:28wudu it's no problem at all but generally of course all scholars agree that if you are in wudu
07:34it is preferable even while studying the quran but it's not offered at all hope that answers the question
