00:06and today I'm going to guide you through an unforgettable 10-day Peru itinerary

00:11designed to take away the stress and help you make the most of this magical destination.

00:15In this video, we explore Cusco, spend a night under the stars in the breathtaking Star Lodge,

00:21and conquer the legendary Inca Trail on our way to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu.

00:26And this isn't just an ordinary travel vlog.

00:31including the logistics on how to get from place to place.

00:41We flew from DFW to Miami, Miami to Lima, and Lima to Cusco.

00:45We made it to Cusco!

00:47Our travels to Cusco were anything but smooth.

00:50We are hopefully going to Peru, maybe.

00:53Stick until the end of this video, and we'll tell you that side of the story.

00:56We chose to stay at the Palacio del Inca, a historic mansion built on Incan temple ruins,

01:01and now it's a hotel conveniently located near Cusco's main attraction.

01:05Since Cusco is over 11,000 feet above sea level,

01:08we took it easy on arrival day to acclimate and avoid altitude sickness.

01:11Our first day in Cusco was a blast.

01:14After starting the morning with cocoa tea and breakfast,

01:17we headed out to explore the city.

01:19We visited Sacsayhuaman, a stunning Inca ruin site.

01:22All right, we're headed up to Sacsayhuaman,

01:25and I would be lying if I said that we weren't feeling the altitude.

01:29And explored Plaza de Armas, the central square,

01:32which is surrounded by historic buildings, shops, and restaurants.

01:35In between the exploring, we had some chance to eat some delicious food.

01:39Let me tell you, Cusco has some of the coolest restaurants in the world.

01:43Here are a few that we recommend.

01:44Day two in Cusco is all about that food.

01:47We ease into the day with a lazy morning before heading to the San Pedro Market

01:51to explore and sample the local foods.

01:54We're at the San Pedro Market.

01:56It's this massive shopping area with everything from fruits to breads to meats,

02:00anything you can imagine.

02:02And it's pretty busy.

02:03So we're buying a bunch of stuff for our cooking class with our guide,

02:06and then we were going to go back to the studio and cook it.

02:08So it should be fun.

02:10That evening, we participated in a cooking class

02:12where we learned how to make traditional Peruvian dishes.

02:20Day three was an adventure.

02:23We hopped in a van from our hotel in Cusco

02:25and headed to the Star Lodge in the Sacred Valley.

02:28Picture this.

02:29You're sleeping in a pod, hanging off the side of a cliff.

02:49It was really scary.

02:51I'm really scared of heights.

02:52It was fun.

02:53Like, I had a great time,

02:54but going up in the dark for the third time was pretty tough.

02:59So I'm glad to get in here.

03:00I'm not going to leave until tomorrow,

03:01and then I'm going to get down as fast as possible.

03:03So, yeah.

03:04On day four, we were set to visit ancient ruins and the salt flats,

03:08but fate had other plans.

03:10We ended up walking for about three hours

03:12from our cliffside Star Lodge to our hotel in Urubamba.

03:16And boy, was it an adventure.

03:18But that's not even the half of it.

03:20You have to watch the full video to hear the whole backstory.

03:23Despite the unexpected turn of events,

03:25we still had an amazing day exploring the Tambo del Inca,

03:29sipping coffee at local shops,

03:30and savoring a delicious dinner.

03:32The hotel was gorgeous,

03:33but we'd recommend staying in Ollante Tambo instead

03:36because there's more things to do.

03:38And just when we thought the day couldn't get any wilder,

03:41we were picked up and literally smuggled to our campsite

03:44to start our hike on the Inca Trail.

03:47Days five through eight were spent hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

03:50The stunning beauty of the Andes Mountains,

03:53the ancient ruins,

03:54and breathtaking scenery made every step worth it.

03:58The Inca Trail was challenging with its ups and its downs,

04:02but the reward of reaching the iconic Machu Picchu was priceless.

04:08I'm so happy.

04:10We highly recommend hiking the Inca Trail,

04:20On day nine, we were exhausted from all the hiking.

04:24We rode the Vista Dome train back to Ollante Tambo,

04:27and from there we took a bus back to Cusco.

04:30We decided to hit up the spa after the hike

04:32to adequately recover and shop for souvenirs

04:35for our friends and our family.

04:36Day 10 was our travel day,

04:38which we were flying back home to the United States

04:40with memories of a lifetime.

04:42Okay, so time to be 100% honest about the experience.

04:46Our Peru trip was insane.

04:49We had it all planned out perfectly,

04:51but then the unexpected happened.

04:53We are hopefully going to Peru.

04:56Maybe.

04:56The LATAM plane wreck in Lima Airport shut down,

04:59not to mention some of the largest protests in Peru's history,

05:03threw a wrench into our plans.

05:05Farmers are striking in Yorubamba,

05:08so we are walking from the Star Lodge

05:11back to our Yorubamba hotel.

05:13It's like a three-hour hike.

05:15We're just walking on the main road.

05:17Yeah, we're just walking on the main road,

05:18trying to be respectful.

05:19But did we let that stop us?

05:21No way.

05:22We worked with some amazing vendors

05:24to make quick modifications

05:25and still enjoyed the things we were most excited about.

05:29We got picked up from our hotel at 9.30 p.m.

05:33It is now 11.30,

05:35and all the roads are blocked.

05:37All the protesters are having a fiesta.

05:38And I'm not feeling too confident

05:41that we're going to get past any roadblock.

05:43Sure, we missed out on some awesome spots

05:45like the Oye Tantambo ruins

05:47and some incredible restaurants in Cusco.

05:50But setbacks aside,

05:51we had an incredible adventure with our family,

05:53and we are already planning our next trip to Asia,

05:56where we'll explore Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.
