00:00:48shambay mitchell versus reggie green a pair of dc area products while the two aren't bosom buddies
00:00:54they they do know each other even sparred once tonight when mitchell and green square off it
00:01:01won't be a sparring session and the the stakes will be much higher than hometown bragging rights
00:01:08i think we sparred a couple times but uh i don't even remember so it wasn't too much to it i know
00:01:12what he has um he thinks he knows what i have but i'm not a gym guy i don't like really sparring in
00:01:19gym and you know you probably can beat me up in the gym but you know in a fight it's totally different
00:01:24to me it's this point in my career is the most important fight of my career you know that point
00:01:30blank it's the most important fight he's a hard puncher um you know he has pretty much a a basic style
00:01:39um i think he needs to learn a lot more um i think i've just been in deeper water than he has and you
00:01:47know i'm gonna take him into deep water and drown him how you doing well reggie green may need a
00:01:54life preserver in reality no real animosity between these two guys mitchell is actually doing green a
00:02:00favor by giving him this title shot and as they mentioned they once did spar together but each
00:02:04claiming no recollection of the occasion which is kind of hard to believe also should find out as
00:02:10recently as last week my spies tell me mitchell was working out with tremendously oversized gloves almost
00:02:16cartoon-like perhaps as extra protection for his injured hands from that last fight bobby
00:02:23we are set for your keys to victory for both fighters well i'll tell you what for mitchell he's got to use
00:02:27his good hand and foot speed he's got perfect one two down the middle and he's a terrific counter puncher
00:02:33again with terrific speed here against khalib rahilu he's on the right as a softball he jabs with the
00:02:38opposite hand he used a nice little feint and he throws a jab left hand right down the middle i don't think

00:10:51green feels a good strong jab is essential against shambay as much as all South boys drive me absolutely

00:11:30pointed out green can punch this is the thing he has to watch the most for green loads up with his
00:11:36right bottom line though he'll take his heart out well if green can punch you better start showing it
00:11:42because right now he hasn't thrown anything and he has been swamped by shambay the biggest element for
00:11:50him don't get frustrated control adapt and pressure are keys to victory for him also not to preset in his
00:11:57mind what he's going to do got to adapt nice right hand lead by green and left hook to the body the
00:12:07left hook did connect yeah the right didn't and went right by until it wasn't strong good idea he does
00:12:14have power in both hands looks pretty well part with a couple of southpaws for this fight as mentioned
00:12:21he also sparred with pedro saiz the man who troubled shambay Mitchell back in February although Mitchell
00:12:27won convincingly oh oh he got hit big right hand there right hook by shambay Mitchell upside the head
00:12:38there's a left hand and right hand behind it straight left and the right hook and he he racked him up a
00:12:43little bit with it yeah that second punch the right really rattled green
00:12:47boom there's another heavy right hand by Mitchell to the temple and down goes three same right hand
00:12:55Steve the third one first round knockdown green down for the third time in his career
00:13:02and he's got about 30 seconds to survive but a whirlwind a whirling dervish is in front of him
00:13:13Mitchell trying to smother green chevalier breaks it up there's a cut on the left and
00:13:19in the right eye of green through a pretty big cut that may be the least of his problems right now
00:13:25come on come on out there shambay Mitchell looking to finish strong with the final seconds ticking away

00:14:08now let's take a look at the knockdown because it was impressive
00:14:16shambay throwing with everything he's got lands that right hand over the top it looked like over
00:14:22the top of his head well you know you can take a look at his turn you watch him he's turning he
00:14:27turns in with his left hand he misses it and he turns with the right he gets him wobbly but he's
00:14:31really turning in on his right hand he is turning his body and there he missed a big one and bang takes
00:14:36it back use the momentum come back swings right into it well here we are again and uh more of
00:14:42the same in store for green because shambay doesn't slow up that's the bad news Mitchell just too fast
00:14:47fast and powerful for green as we head into round two
00:14:57a swarming shambay Mitchell in the first round nice right hand counter by green green meant to put some
00:15:04hurt back on shambay Mitchell with that right hand see if green can regroup following a dreadful opening round
00:15:09something has got to have been taken out of green by that because he took a good size beating the whole round he just
00:15:19happened to go down at the end of it but he was taking the beating
00:15:23Mitchell continues to pummel green
00:15:26yeah green has got to fight back here there's no question about it he's in over his head and the only thing he can do is hope to connect to those punches
00:15:32he staggered Mitchell good buckled his knees i'm not sure it was a combination of balance and the punch but it was good right hand yeah it was i think it was a combination balance and
00:15:45punch he didn't look hurt at all and then a left hook to the body and Mitchell really upset with himself
00:15:53what a turnaround for reggie green here in the second round after being down to the first i think a
00:15:58good amount of that is balanced you see how charming mitchell loves to jump around switch feet switch
00:16:02sides switch directions you're caught in a switch and it'll look like more than it is especially the
00:16:09way he's fighting with that right jab i mean he just throws it and so careless with his body comes flying
00:16:13across like a body surfer or something and then they get tangled up that's what's happening to him he's
00:16:22dramatic turnaround mitchell all of a sudden being a little more cautious
00:16:28you see the cut over the right eye of reggie green seems to be intact not dripping down into the eye
00:16:38wasn't bad it wasn't in a bad location it will believe it will open up
00:16:42could get worse but right now it's under control excellent corner
00:16:51mitchell getting frustrated
00:16:52those punches are being blocked by the elbows of green and he's got to step almost over his leg the
00:17:00way he's coming in they're getting tangled he's got to step over him to punch he was so effective
00:17:04with that right hook to the head and he stopped throwing it as consistently

01:05:44as they seen it the same way that the judges were seeing it this this will prevent a whole lot of stuff
01:05:50at the end of the fight where the perception of a propriety looked over and hovers over the ring
01:05:55people knew what was happening every way so it was all adjusted to what the score would be it was an
01:06:00excellent it was up it was awesome it was the bomb it was a success we tried it two ways one way was
01:06:06given after three or four rounds and one way round by round by far round by round was the winner and now
01:06:13you're into the basketball the nba you're into the hockey you're into the football everybody knows what
01:06:18the play is the nevada athletic commission however turned down the request for open scoring yesterday
01:06:24progress has always had a problem custom and tradition is diametrically opposed to reform and
01:06:32progress it's going to take time for it to sink in because each one has their idiosyncrasies one says
01:06:38for the fear of the judge somebody may do them the archaic practice of people coming in with balance
01:06:43and doing in the judges and what they do and how they do within passion fans i take that into
01:06:48consideration i understand that but you can't stop progress we had to steamship then we had to pony
01:06:54express we had to railroad now we got jets with the propeller planes you cannot stop progress and
01:07:00progress is is on the move and so we have everybody attacking our sports making all type of bills and
01:07:06things most of them are directed toward me as though this is my sport not so the sport was here before
01:07:11i came it'll be here when i leave but we must adjust and can come into the 20th century and be in in
01:07:17pulse of the time with the people but this is going to slow you down if nevada's not going to do it
01:07:22no it's not you know nevada's going to do what nevada do render unto caesars which is caesars and
01:07:26unto god which is god whatever it do i predict nevada will be in accord before long it's going to be
01:07:33because there's going to be an overwhelming demand you the public has got to demand what the officials
01:07:39do because you started to condemn them when they make an erroneous decision maybe an unpopular decision
01:07:46but not a corrupt decision so i'm looking forward to come pushing and looking for repeal of the old
01:07:52arcane way of hiding in the dark room smoke-filled rooms and at the end of the day you come out with
01:07:58a decision most of the times it may be miscalculated even been we even when they have it right they've
01:08:04been added it wrong and so it's a draw when it's a win or a win when it's a draw they got to come into
01:08:09the real time and age of what time it is i love nevada nothing was a very a very timely subject a
01:08:16lot of talk these days about boxing reform senate committee hearings all week right here in washington
01:08:21pushing for legislation that would give fighters more control over their careers muhammad ali appeared
01:08:26before the commission your thoughts on that well i first of all i love muhammad i forgive him i say
01:08:32father because you know not what he's doing uh they're using him they're manipulating him and he don't
01:08:37have a clue of what's going on but the fact of the matter is with all the hearings and the fighters
01:08:43taking more control of their lives let the fighters go out and find the money let the fighters go out and
01:08:47find the matches let the fighters do that it's archaic is if you take one objective impassioned step back
01:08:54unimpassioned step you would realize the frivolity of what they're saying give the fighter more control
01:09:00of his life the fighter does control his life be more specific who's manipulating muhammad ali
01:09:05whoever it is that's manipulating that's getting one of the greatest fighters of all time to come
01:09:10out and sign his name for letters and be able to hear the mumbo-jumbo that he's putting forth
01:09:15everybody in america know it is in him he said that he's been seeing the scandals and that he wanted
01:09:20to appear before the i know what about the scandals when he was in the business you know i mean it's
01:09:24always going to be scandals i'm not going to defend the pro i'm for the safety of the boxer i'm for
01:09:29improvement of the boxing i'm for boxing policing itself and welcoming anyone and everyone that
01:09:35wants to do something for the good of the sport of boxing i'd join them to do right i would not
01:09:39join them to do wrong but i see here like a bulls rush everybody's jumping on the bandwagon for
01:09:45political uh... rewards and but the fact of the matter is the fighter is going to be left out there
01:09:51without a promoter there's no definition definition to promoter okay we got network signing up fighters
01:09:56you got casinos signing up fighters you got people signing up fighters that not even in the boxing game
01:10:02who are you going to police them does the bill cover all of it it's it's a big question john king
