00:00This one's for the builders, the people who build this country, the people who get up every day and know it's a good day to make things better.
00:11This is the truck they've always trusted, built like never before, built for those who know that towing and torque and connectivity aren't truck ad cliches, they're things they use to make a living.
00:24It's for those who know that available features like active camera views and head-up display aren't just options, that towing innovations are way more than features.
00:36They're tools that see things differently, built to improve how things will be built.
00:43Roads, bridges, schools, stadiums, with onboard scales to weigh whatever heavy thing you have before you build whatever heavy thing we need.
00:54With up to 2 kilowatts of ProPower onboard to power miter saws, jackhammers, and tailgates where no one has ever tailgated before.
01:03And the truck is just the start.
01:05With Ford Pro Telematics that receive scheduled maintenance recommendations ahead of time.
01:10And a new UpFit integration system, giving you productivity tools to fit your business.
01:16From a few contractors to the thousands of farmers responsible for the butter we put on our toast every morning.
01:23Yeah, this one's for the builders.
01:26The all-new 2023 Ford Super Duty.
01:34Kentucky Truck Plant, please welcome one of your very own Joy Jeffries.
01:40Good morning, and welcome to Kentucky Truck Plant.
01:54My name is Joy Jeffries, and I'm an employee here at KTP.
01:59It's great to see all of you here today, and I am beyond honored to be standing up here to kick off our Super Duty Employee Celebration.
02:07Are you all excited as I am?
02:11We have some special guests joining us today.
02:14Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford, President and CEO Jim Farley, and several other senior leaders from Ford.
02:22The UAW Region 8 Assistant Director, George Palmer Jr., Governor Brashear, Senator Rocky Adams, Mayor Greenberg, Metro Council President Winkler, and other government guests.
02:37And our very own UAW Local 862 Building Chair, John Jaggers, KTP Plant Manager, Joe Closardo.
02:48And let's hear it for our guests.
02:52Woo!
02:52I joined this amazing team at the Kentucky Truck Plant last year, and ever since the moment, I've been blown away by the incredible people that I work with and the products that we built, especially the all-new Super Duty.
03:08I come from a Ford family, and I couldn't be prouder to join the company and continue the legacy.
03:14Now, it is my honor to welcome Ford Executive Chair, Bill Ford.
03:34Well, thank you, Joy.
03:37Excuse me, it's a little loud.
03:38Hello, everyone.
03:39And it's an honor to be with you today.
03:41And I want to begin by welcoming my good friend, Governor Andy Beshear.
03:51Thank you so much for joining us and being such an avid supporter and a partner of Ford.
03:57And I love it when you were at the Super Duty unveiling.
04:01You renamed the state Kentucky.
04:03That was very cool.
04:04And, of course, I'm very grateful to be joined by many other elected officials, as well as UAW Region 8 Assistant Director, George Palmer, Jr.
04:21Super Duty is the Ford Motor Company, and it's the backbone of work in America.
04:28But, really, it's a testament to all of you, our incredible workforce here in Kentucky, as well as those in Ohio, workers who build the best heavy-duty trucks in the world.
04:42Here in Kentucky, at KTP and at Louisville Assembly Plant just down the road, we have more than 12,000 employees.
04:49In fact, Kentucky has the highest concentration of Ford hourly workers in the United States outside of Michigan.
05:07I just want to thank all of you for making a product that our customers love.
05:12And thank you for coming to work during the pandemic.
05:17You kept this company moving forward through the toughest of times.
05:21And you are living proof that building in America matters now more than ever.
05:33I'm really proud that Ford leads and has for years with more UAW workers than any other automaker.
05:41And we want to keep adding to those jobs here in America.
05:45And that's why we're investing over a billion dollars across all our facilities over the next several years
05:52to make improvements based on the comments and feedback that we have received from you.
05:58We continue to invest in our hugely successful gas-powered and hybrid products because of you,
06:06even as we develop our electric vehicle portfolio.
06:10Superduty and other ICE vehicles will remain key products in our lineup for years to come.
06:21And there's more to come for Kentucky.
06:26We're eagerly anticipating Blue Oval SK Battery Park in Glendale.
06:31And these two battery manufacturing facilities will allow us to power our vehicles with technology made here in America's manufacturing heartland.
06:44Production is going to begin in 2025 and will add more than 5,000 jobs here in Kentucky.
06:51And at Ford, we know that by building the best cars and trucks in the world, we're building so much more.
07:05We're building families and communities right here in Kentucky and all over the country.
07:11Thank you to the governor and the many others who are here with us today for your support.
07:18And thank you to all of you for your incredible work.
07:22Thank you.
07:23Please welcome UAW Region 8 Assistant Director, George Palmer Jr.
07:44What a beautiful day.
07:48I thank the Lord for this type of weather that we have that's shouting down upon us.
07:53Today, I'd like to bring greetings to you from Region 8 Director, Tim Smith, who regressed that he's not here today.
07:59Also, Vice President Chuck Browning.
08:02I want to thank Kentucky Truck Plant leadership, Building Chairman John Jaggers,
08:06President Todd Dunn, Vice President Marcus Sheckles,
08:09all the elected officials and appointed officials for the UAW.
08:13I also would like to thank Ford Motor Company leadership, hourly and salary included.
08:20The biggest part of this celebration, I know we have this launch of this super duty,
08:24but the best part of the UAW are our members that are on the shop floor.
08:29It means a lot to me, and I genuinely say that.
08:31I started right here at Kentucky Truck Plant 23 years ago as a TPT.
08:36For those that don't know what that is, that's a temporary part-time employee.
08:39I started on the Fast Frame Line, IPNF.
08:45I never will forget those long days working 10-7.
08:48But because of the relationship with the UAW and Ford Motor Company, I've been able to retain my employment.
08:5423 years, I've been laid off multiple times due to the auto industry.
08:59But because of the work that you all do right here in Kentucky,
09:01we've been able to sustain our jobs and be a staple in the community.
09:05It means a lot to me because I'm home.
09:07So this job I have as an assistant director, it would not have been possible if it was not for collective bargaining
09:14and the relationship with UAW and Ford Motor Company.
09:17But I truly do know it's the workers out here on the floor that build these products,
09:22but we do more than build products.
09:23We do things in the community that other companies don't do.
09:27Out in this audience, you all out here, softball coaches, you feed the homeless.
09:34We do so many things in the community.
09:37A numerous amount of things that I don't want to say things and forget what I should say
09:40because I'm not reading from any teleprompter.
09:42No offense, but I'm speaking from the heart.
09:45The things that we have in the future that's been secured because of a collaborative effort.
09:50My brother, my good friend, Andy Beshear.
09:53We have a governor that's a partner with Ford Motor Company,
09:57but a bigger partner with the UAW.
09:59We have an opportunity to set the tone outside of Detroit, outside of everywhere else,
10:05but right here in Kentucky.
10:06I've worked at Louisville Assembly Plant and Kentucky Truck Plant,
10:09and I couldn't be more proud of what we do right here in Kentucky.
10:12The best product built on planet Earth, they are built right here in Kentucky.
10:16So thank you all.
10:24Please welcome the governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Andy Beshear.
10:35Hi.
10:38Hello, everyone.
10:40Everyone, what an exciting day to mark yet another milestone, historic milestone with Ford.
10:47This iconic American company has bet on Kentucky time and time again.
10:53And the production of the new 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty truck
10:58represents yet another commitment to our future, our workforce, and our combined success.
11:04Just last September, we stood here together to celebrate $700 million in investment
11:11that is creating 500 new jobs.
11:15It was so exciting, we even proclaimed September 27, 2022, as Kentucky Day in the Commonwealth.
11:23Yeah.
11:28This is one of the largest investments in Louisville's history.
11:32And it meant our dedicated Kentucky workers would be the force behind this new Ford F-Series Super Duty truck.
11:41And to no one's surprise, we Kentuckians delivered.
11:49Here we are just eight months later watching this vehicle roll off the line.
11:55Kentuckians have been building Ford trucks since the Model T.
11:58And we are thrilled this tradition is going to continue.
12:01Kentucky gets the job done.
12:04We get it done right.
12:06And we get it done fast.
12:07It's why Ford keeps betting its future on us.
12:11Folks, this is just one of the many investments Ford has made right here in Louisville.
12:16This announcement followed the historic announcement in September 2021,
12:22the largest investment Kentucky has ever seen.
12:25Along with this partner, SK Onn, Ford is building the largest electric vehicle battery production facility in the entire world.
12:33And they're building it right here in Kentucky.
12:40Just down the road in Hardin County,
12:43Their record-breaking $5.8 billion investment will create 5,000 more good jobs for our people.
12:51This announcement sparked a chain of EV-related investments launching Kentucky as the undisputed EV production capital of the United States of America.
13:00And thanks to your hard work, thanks to these investments and many more,
13:09we just closed the best two years for economic investment in our history.
13:14We've announced more than $28.89 billion in new investments that have created 46,000 new Kentucky jobs.
13:23We have the lowest unemployment rate in Kentucky history, lower income taxes, record budget surpluses.
13:30Bill, Jim, I thank you and I thank Ford for helping us achieve this economic success.
13:37I also want to thank you, every single Ford employee who has been there for us when we need you over these past three years.
13:46From helping us fight the pandemic, to helping us recover from natural disasters,
13:51Ford and its employees have been there for Kentucky.
13:55I also want to thank the hard-working Kentuckians who show up at these jobs every day.
14:01Folks like those here making this celebration possible.
14:04All in all, Ford has helped create more than 120,000 jobs for Kentuckians, and that number is growing.
14:12And those 120,000 jobs Kentuckians do with pride and a commitment, and that's what is driving our combined success.
14:21This also doesn't happen without great unions.
14:24I am proud to be a pro-union governor right here in Kentucky.
14:28And I want to thank the 8,500 United Auto Workers putting together this high-tech new super duty at the Kentucky truck plant.
14:41Unions built the American middle class, and they continue to ensure our workforce is the best in the world.
14:48Can we give a round of applause for all our employees?
14:51From the bottom of my heart, thank you for what you do.
15:02You are the reason that I knew when I promised Bill that Kentucky would not let him down, that we would deliver.
15:09It's a promise that I and you keep every single day.
15:13And now, I'm a little biased, but I think the Ford F-Series Super Duty truck is a good-looking truck.
15:21And it's everything a driver needs, from the toughest jobs to the most important job that any of us have,
15:28and that's traveling safely with our families.
15:31Trucks are a part of our way of life, whether it's working on the farm or driving our kids to church.
15:36They are a critical part of who we are in our history, and thankfully, our future.
15:42Together, Kentucky and Ford will drive this industry forward as we produce the very best batteries
15:48and the very best vehicles that folks depend on across our country.
15:53We're looking at a future full of prosperity for our people and the greatest American company.
15:59Thank you all. We love you. God bless.
16:02Thank you all.
16:06And now, please welcome Ford President and CEO, Jim Farley.
16:20All right. Good morning, everyone, and thank you, Governor.
16:24It's great to be with you again.
16:27Thank you for your support and partnership.
16:29And thank you to all the Kentucky leaders who have joined us today.
16:35And thank you for our host, Kentucky Truck.
16:40This plant has assembled 13.3 million trucks since 69.
16:54My daughter and I measured it.
16:57That's lined up the trucks.
16:59That's twice around the planet.
17:01So, now let's focus on the reason why we're here.
17:05To honor the thousands of UAW men and women at Kentucky Truck Plant, Ohio Assembly Plant,
17:13and Sharonville Transmission who build this beautiful super duty.
17:18This is a celebration of your hard work and your commitment to quality.
17:26You are Ford heroes.
17:28You're building the trucks that literally build America.
17:34Think about that.
17:36This plan and all you help to do powers the American economy.
17:45Customers' demand for super duty has far exceeded our expectations.
17:50And we're doing everything we can to deliver a high quality vehicles with the customer experiences
17:57that surpass all others as fast as we can.
18:03Super duty customers are the backbone of business.
18:08Trades people.
18:10Farmers that grow the produce that feeds our families.
18:14First responders.
18:15The world relies on our customers.
18:20And our customers rely on the super duty.
18:23We could have launched this truck a few weeks earlier.
18:27Right, Bryce?
18:29We decided instead to make a stand on quality.
18:35This plant in the truck, this is a ground zero for our return at Ford to world-class quality.
18:44So we tortured these trucks.
18:48450 drivers covered 30,000 miles in nearly 200 different super duty, the earlier prototypes.
18:57We pulled heavy trailers for thousands of miles.
19:01We sifted through the data and thousands of comments from those test drivers.
19:07And we fixed dozens of quality issues.
19:10Joe, you and the team here at KTP, you were not shy.
19:15You spoke up when we needed to slow down to get the quality right.
19:20And we haven't always done that as a company.
19:24So today, we're here to say thank you.
19:29You and the team have my deepest respect.
19:33You are the model for an entire company.
19:36Take Jake Kluge.
19:39He's here.
19:41Thank you, Jake.
19:42He is a team manager in the body shop.
19:47He noticed the super duties, hood, fit, wasn't just right.
19:53And you know, it actually met our standard at Ford.
19:56But he didn't think it was good enough for our customers.
20:00So we got the teams together, went to every yard, and corrected every hood.
20:08Paul Murray.
20:09Paul, there you go.
20:12Paul moved here to Kentucky from Dearborn to lead our zero defect launch process.
20:21Paul and his team worked with every department and every supplier to spot and fix issues before we made a single truck and sent it to our customers.
20:33Thanks to their work, we now are set up to act quickly to find defects and fix them at the source.
20:43Thank you, Paul.
20:44Thank you to your team.
20:45Thank you.
20:45Thank you.
20:45Thank you.
20:51This truck is special.
20:54It's the first pickup truck in America with an embedded 5G modem.
20:59So it is a mobile command center to run a complex job site.
21:04It's the only truck with Ford Pro UpFit integrated system.
21:10So if you rely on a crane or a plow for your job, it will attach easily to the super duty and work right away.
21:19The super duty comes with Ford Pro software, services, charging solutions that save work customers time and money.
21:30And what I get most excited about is this is a new era of digital trucks.
21:35We keep improving the vehicle over time.
21:38We're going to ship software updates to the super duty as it's working.
21:43And our customers are going to love it.
21:45Our team caught up with Christy Lewis, one of our customers in Alabama, where she distributes for a little Debbie.
21:54She drives for a living, more than 150 miles a day, towing a 7,000 pound trailer on rural roads and highways.
22:03She had a Ford for years and then she upgraded the super duty as her business expanded.
22:11And yes, she made a mistake.
22:14She tried one of our competitors' trucks, but found it didn't tow like her super duty.
22:22She said, I drove it for four months.
22:24That thing didn't have enough power, so I'm back to super duty.
22:27Super duty is just one of the critical launches we have this year at Ford, in addition to the Escape and Corsair, down the road in Louisville.
22:41And the Ford Mustang, and of course the Ranger, that are both built in Michigan.
22:46And we actually have more than that.
22:49As a company, we're focused on the things we do better than anyone.
22:53And boy, do we do trucks well, we do SUVs well, we do vans, we do sports cars.
23:00That's what we're world class at.
23:02And as Bill said, we put our money where our mouth is when it comes to built-in America.
23:08We are America's auto company.
23:12Not because I say so, but because people know that our vehicles are all built here.
23:20In fact, we're the only company who builds 100% of its pickups in America.
23:27Only one.
23:32And our customers have made us the number one brand in America again for the first quarter.
23:39How about that, folks?
23:40The best in America.
23:45Team, what an amazing day to share with all the employees around the world.
23:49Bill, thank you for being here.
23:52I know how much it means for our team.
23:54This team on the line at KTP and Sharonville and Ohio Assembly, you're the heart of what is good at Ford.
24:02Thank you all for what you do.
24:04I want to especially add my thanks to the governor for all his support.
24:09And for all of you for setting the standard for the rest of the company to live up to.
24:15It's a privilege for me to serve you.
24:18Now, let's go get some lunch before we get back to building those damn trucks.
24:24Thank you.
24:24Thank you.
24:24Thank you.
