Continuous heavy rainfall has caused a newly formed barrier lake in Hualien County to overflow. As a precaution, nearly 100 residents in downstream Dongfu Village were evacuated. In September, the main barrier lake collapsed and overflowed, causing catastrophic flooding that killed 19 people in Guangfu Township.
