00:00Rescue and relief personnel from all over the country are converging in Hualien in eastern Taiwan
00:06as a town inundated by a breached natural dam continues to suffer.
00:10Our reporter Irene Lin is live from the Emergency Response Center in Guangfu Township.
00:15Irene, what are people there doing to help?
00:20Yes, Yvonne, we're at a center where firefighters and first responders from Hualien City
00:24and all over the country are gathering here and rest before their next mission.
00:29Now, some of them just had lunch and are ready to be deployed to residences or wherever they're needed when called on.
00:36Now, earlier this morning, we were at a church, now serves as an unofficial evacuation center.
00:41About all of those 700 people flocked there when floodwater rushed into town.
00:47Some of them were able to gather some essentials and have been sleeping on church pews for the past two nights.
00:53Now, people there told me that they do have enough dry food and drinking water,
00:57but still lack some basic necessities.
01:00And there are also some chefs and restaurant owners there to station there to cook food for the evacuees
01:05as they were cut off on water and gas.
01:08Here's what they said.
01:08But now we're trying to do some of the resourcesater.
01:12This is because there's a lot of resources in the water.
01:13There's plenty of resources on the hog.
01:15There's some formulas here that are in the water, water, and food, but also there are a lot of problems.
01:20And now, people, it's a lot of home.
01:23There are some children that are really tired and there are a lot of DRAMs for a while.
01:26And now, there's some children.
01:27Now, there's our children who are not to in the water.
02:04Now as you heard earlier
02:07many people have not showered since Tuesday
02:10And that's simply because there's no water in most of the town
02:14About 3,000 households according to the official figure
02:17Now many people told me that they've had to use bottled water to flush toilets
02:22And they can't just go home without an official order
02:24So it's a really difficult situation for the people there
02:27Irene, as you mentioned that some people have not been able to wash in the past two days
02:34Is there any help or service for that?
02:39Actually, yes
02:40So the military has sent in a mobile shower station
02:43Along with a tank and a tower filled with clean water
02:46Now that was at Dajin Elementary School
02:49One of the biggest official evacuation centers in Guangfu
02:52About 300 people are still staying there as of today
02:57Now I do want to mention that President Lai Qingde is in Guangfu now
03:02To oversee emergency response and recovery on water supply
03:08He's at a water purification center, purification plant
03:12Now we're waiting here on more details on the progress of the water supply recovery
03:18Thanks Irene
