00:00Large amounts of water were drawn from the reservoir to prevent crops from drying out,
00:04beginning in December 2021. Due to the unforeseen event, archaeologists were under sudden pressure
00:10to excavate and document what they could of the ruins as quickly as possible before it was
00:14resubmerged. Archaeologists uncovered various major sites during excavations between January
00:19and February, including a massive fortification with wall and towers, a monumental, multistory
00:25storage building and an industrial complex. The lost city, which is believed to have existed from
00:301550 to 1350 BC, previously served as an extensive urban complex within the Mittani Empire.
00:37Also among the group's interesting findings were five ceramic vessels with an archive of over 100
00:42cuneiform tablets, experts said. Some of the clay tablets were said to still be sealed into their
00:47clay envelopes. It is close to a miracle that cuneiform tablets made of unfired clay survived
00:52so many decades underwater. Now, the ancient city is completely submerged underwater once again.
