00:00The Bermuda Triangle is an urban legend focused on a loosely defined region in the western part
00:04of the North Atlantic Ocean where tales of lost mariners and disappeared ships,
00:08crashed aircraft and even vanishing humans, have been emerging from the waters of the
00:13Bermuda Triangle for centuries. The vast area of more than half a million square miles is also
00:18known as the Devil's Triangle, and theories as to why so many travelers fall foul of its clutches
00:23abound. Unexplained circumstances surround some of these accidents, including one in which the
00:28pilots of a squadron of US Navy bombers became disoriented while flying over the area, the
00:33planes were never found. Other boats and planes have seemingly vanished from the area in good weather
00:38without even radioing distress messages. Some say there are magnetic anomalies that throw compasses
00:43off course, others that tropical cyclones are to blame, and some say there's simply no mystery at
00:48all. Today, visiting the area can be much more pleasant than you might think, with the sun-splashed
00:54islands of Turks and Caicos beckoning in the south and the coves of Bermuda in the north.
