00:00Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia,
00:02and Minister of Rural and Regional Development.
00:08But it is a great honour,
00:11a real great honour for me
00:13to be given the opportunity to officiate the Global Skills Forum 2025
00:18and for the first time outside Geneva.
00:21Thank you for the DG of ILO
00:24for giving us the opportunity.
00:30This forum marks as a powerful testament
00:36to how far we have come as a nation
00:39and how deeply we are committed
00:42to the course of skills,
00:44human capital and social justice.
00:47As chairman of Malaysia's National Tibet Council,
00:51I have witnessed first-hand
00:54how simply the world,
00:57the world of world is being transformed,
01:01driven by artificial intelligence,
01:04the great economy and new global trade dynamic.
01:08In this defining moment,
01:11we are reminded that skills are the true currency of future.
01:16And knowledge is the key that unlocks the door
01:20to share prosperity.
01:23Alhamdulillah,
01:25with the presence of nearly 50 Pacific countries
01:28from ASEAN and beyond,
01:30sends a powerful message
01:33that skills development,
01:35skills development is not an isolated agenda,
01:39but a shared global responsibility.
01:42A responsibility to ensure that every worker,
01:46every youth and every community
01:48has the chance to learn,
01:50to adapt and to drive.
01:52We must recognize that the next great divide
01:56will not be between rich and poor nations,
02:00but between skilled and unskilled societies.
02:03The ability to learn, unlearn and relearn
02:07will determine whether countries rise or fall
02:11in this new global economy.
02:14ASEAN is one of the world's youngest
02:17and most dynamic regions.
02:19If we invest wisely,
02:21issues divided
02:23can drive innovation and prosperity for decades.
02:26But if we neglect,
02:29we risk losing a generation to inequality and irrelevance.
02:35Under a nation's ASEAN chairmanship,
02:39we aim to turn potential into progress.
02:42Through the Ministry of Human Resources
02:45and HRD Corp,
02:48in collaboration with ASEAN secretariat,
02:50of course, ILO and IOE,
02:55we are developing new frameworks
02:57for cross-border recognition of skills
03:00and shared investment in human capital.
03:04governments build frameworks,
03:07industry give the life
03:10and workers give the meaning.
03:13The private sector is not just a beneficiary of skilled workers,
03:17it is a co-creator of talent
03:19and a partner of national building.
03:22Every investment in scheme
03:25is an investment in competitiveness,
03:29innovation and shared prosperity.
03:32Let this forum mark a true turning point,
03:36where the private sector stands
03:38not merely as a beneficiary of progress,
03:42but as the architect of a future power
03:47by skill, purpose and ownership.
03:51Let this be the moment where every nation in ASEAN declares,
03:55which one united voice,
03:58that the future of work belongs to those who believe together.
04:02And with their spirit and our shared commitment,
04:07I hereby officiate the Global Scale Forum 2025.
04:14Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
