The warmth of your welcome reflects the time-honored bonds of friendship between our two countries.
00:07
The Prime Minister and I held very fruitful discussions today on a wide range of issues.
00:14
We reaffirmed our commitment to elevate our partnership to greater heights, keeping in
00:20
mind that the Maldives and Malaysia are bound by shared values, mutual respect and a strong
00:26
foundation of Islamic faith.
00:29
This year we celebrate the 57th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between our
00:34
two countries.
00:35
Over the decades, our partnership has matured into one characterised by high-level cooperation
00:42
and people-to-people exchanges.
00:44
I would like to thank the Prime Minister, the Government and the people of Malaysia for the
00:48
generous assistance and cooperation extended to the Maldives over the years, especially
00:53
in developing our human resource capacity.
00:57
The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme has contributed immensely to capacity building
01:04
of our civil servants over the years.
01:07
In addition, the educational opportunities provided to Maldivians in Malaysia have enriched individual
01:15
lives and contributed to the nation's development.
01:18
I welcome the over 600 scholarship opportunities that have been made available to Maldivian students
01:25
by Malaysian higher education institutions.
01:28
I express deep appreciation to the Prime Minister and the Malaysian Government for the supportive
01:34
visa arrangements extended to the Maldivian students and their families, particularly with
01:39
the arrangement of the Guardian visa.
01:42
These policies have significantly contributed to Malaysia's position as a preferred destination,
01:48
especially for the Maldivians pursuing higher education.
01:52
As Excellency the Prime Minister has highlighted, we have signed and exchanged key documents aimed
01:57
at enhancing our collaboration in areas such as health, tourism, sports, financial services and training
02:05
of our diplomats.
02:07
These instruments will serve as strong foundations for expanding collaboration and delivering tangible
02:14
benefits to our people.
02:16
Our discussions paved the way for future collaboration in several promising areas.
02:21
I also express our keen interest in expediting and concluding MOUs in the field of defence and other
02:31
important areas.
02:33
Malaysia's advancement and leadership in the halal industry and digital economy are truly commendable.
02:38
I deeply appreciate the Prime Minister's willingness to share Malaysia's expertise with us.
02:44
We are interested in exploring joint initiatives in digital transformation such as information technology,
02:51
artificial intelligence and cyber security.
02:54
We look forward to forging meaningful partnerships that can tap into these dynamic sectors for mutual
03:01
benefits.
03:02
Trade and investment remains key pillars of our bilateral relationship.
03:06
We exchange ideas and avenues for enhanced trade and investments between our two countries.
03:13
I see immense potential to deepen our economic ties and invite Malaysian investors to explore
03:19
opportunities for opportunities in the Maldives, particularly in our special economic zones, business sector,
03:25
financial services, maritime economy and in addition to digital economy.
03:32
Later today I will attend a business forum where I will get the opportunity to engage with Malaysian
03:39
businesses and investors.
03:41
I thank you Prime Minister for deciding to take your time out to grace the occasion and it
03:49
is a great honour for the Maldivian people.
03:52
Thank you, Excellency.
03:53
We have also exchanged views on matters such as climate change with which countries to pose
04:01
an existential threat to the Maldives as a low-aligned small island development state.
04:07
I shared our national commitments including our efforts towards generating 33% of our energy
04:13
for renewable sources by 2028 and the ongoing work to plant 5 million trees in our country
04:21
by 2028.
04:23
The Maldives economy and livelihoods are heavily dependent on sustainability of our fragile environment.
04:29
I spoke to the Prime Minister about the importance of accessible global adaptation finance for vulnerable
04:35
countries such as the Maldives, struggling with the disproportionate brunt of the ill effect
04:41
of climate change.
04:44
Looking ahead, we are united in our vision to transform our close partnership, including
04:48
through high-level exchanges and meaningful engagements that enrich our understanding and
04:54
strengthen our bonds.
04:56
I also conveyed to the Prime Minister our full support and cooperation as Malaysia takes on
05:03
ASEAN chairmanship this year.
05:06
I am pleased that our meeting concluded with a strong sense of mutual respect, shared purpose
05:12
and optimism for the future.
05:14
I am honoured to extend an invitation to the Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to
05:19
the Maldives at your convenience.
05:23
I look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful country.
05:33
RANediします.
05:35
I haven't commenced you to say that you have much time for mayor to year towards you to
05:36
pick up your conversations.
05:37
So when you say that one is the same, how about you?
05:39
I can't believe that.
05:41
I do have a strong sense ofaré completely, really.
05:42
How about you?
05:43
And what you think is that it is.
05:44
I don't believe you are a strong sense of that you are a strong sense of ashtuban
05:47
when the current team will be able to evolve.
05:48
I am asking you to keep this in our comprehensive and sustainable framework
05:50
to the present.
05:51
I am the most common sense of your understanding of the future.
05:52
But how about you the right?
05:53
How about you, how about you?
05:56
How about you?
