00:03Is intercourse a prerequisite to walima?
00:09What if due to tiredness or some other reason the act wasn't possible on the first night
00:14and the walima is due tomorrow?
00:16Reason to ask this question is
00:18if one is not sure of its performance because of zero exposure to the opposite sex, female.
00:26As far as intercourse a prerequisite for walima
00:32there is a misconception amongst many of the Muslims
00:37that consummation of the marriage is compulsory before doing walima.
00:43There is no such thing mentioned in the Quran, the hadith
00:46that consummation of the marriage is a must before having walima.
00:52Yes, there is the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ
00:54that Abulavik Prophet ﷺ when he married the Mu'atul Mumineen
01:01Zainab Mahla between with her
01:03the Prophet consummated the marriage and then gave the walima.
01:08So it is a sunnah to consummate the marriage
01:12and then give walima but it is not a fard.
01:16According to all schools of thought
01:17all the four madhab you can very well have walima before so there is no problem.
01:23According to the Maliki school of thought
01:25there is no problem at all, you can have it before.
01:29What the scholars say that depending upon how the custom is there of the society
01:34because different societies in the world have different customs for marriage
01:39as long as it does not go against the Sharia while following the customs
01:43so you can have the walima right from the time after nikah is done
01:50till the festive day for the wedding is there.
01:54So after nikah you can have any time
01:56you can have before consummation also, after consummation also
01:59but the Prophet had before consummation of the marriage
02:03so sorry the Prophet had after the consummation of the marriage
02:07so having walima after the consummation of the marriage is a sunnah
02:11it is not a fard at all.
02:13You can have before, you can have later also
02:15both accepted and walima is a sunnah
02:20it is not a fard.
02:22Secondly, consummating the marriage on the first day
02:26or the first night of the wedding is not a fard
02:30it depends upon the two people who are married
02:34depends upon the couple
02:35how comfortable they are
02:37it can be on the first night
02:38it can be second night
02:39it can be third night
02:40there is no hard and fast rule in Islam
02:44that the marriage should be consummated on the first day
02:47or the first night
02:48or the second day or the second night
02:50it depends upon the comfort zone of both the couples
02:54and how do they feel
02:56and there is no particular compulsory
03:03that it should be the first day
03:05can be, cannot be
03:07depending upon the comfort zone of both the parties
03:09hope that answers the question
03:10Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
