00:00The next question, Assalamualaikum sir, Waalaikum Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
00:05I am Muhammad Ainul Bari, medical student of AIIMS, AIMS, from West Bengal, India.
00:16I stay in a hostel and my roommate is a Hindu. He has some small statues of their gods.
00:25So is it mandatory to cover these every time when I attend to Salah? Please explain.
00:32I cannot attend every Jumma because of the class schedule, so I do Zohar at Tiffin time. Is it right or wrong? Please explain.
00:42Mr. Muhammad Ainul Bari has asked two questions. Number one, he stays in a hostel and his roommate is a Hindu.
00:48And his Hindu friend has got many idols of their gods.
00:53So he is asking, when I pray in the room, should he cover these idols?
00:59Brother, when you pray, you have to pray towards the Qibla.
01:02You have to find out from the compass, from your mobile, that where is the Qibla.
01:07After you've identified the Qibla, you have to face in the direction of the Qaba for praying.
01:11Now, when you face in the direction of Qaba, in front of you there should be no idol.
01:15If the idol is behind you, no problem.
01:17So if the idol is in front of you, or you can see the idol while praying, see if you shift it behind you, or out of your field of vision.
01:26If you cannot shift it, then you cover it.
01:29You explain to your non-Muslim friend, your Hindu roommate, that I am a Muslim.
01:35I am not supposed to pray in front of idol, but if the idol is out of your vision, somewhere behind, there is no problem.
01:43If in front of you, you shift it behind, keep it at the side or behind you, so that you cannot see it, and your prayer is valid.
01:50If you cannot shift it, you can cover it with a cloth, so that it is not seen.
01:55Come to your second question.
01:56That you miss your Jumma Salah, because it clashes with your classes.
02:01So what do you do?
02:03You pray a Zohar during a Tiffin time or lunch break.
02:05Is it correct?
02:06It's totally wrong.
02:08A Muslim is not supposed to miss his Jumma Salah.
02:12Normally, a Muslim should offer his prayer in congregation, in mosque.
02:17Some scholars say it's a Fard-e-Kifaya, some scholars say that it is Fard.
02:26Some say it is Guna-e-Kabira.
02:27He puts it as, if you regularly miss your normal Salah, if you do not pray in congregation mosque, it's a major sin.
02:38He puts it as 65th or 56th number of major sin.
02:44So some scholars say it's Fard-e-Kifaya, some say it is Fard, some say it is Guna-e-Kabira, if you miss it.
02:51Jumma, there is no difference of opinion.
02:53Jumma is a Fard on every Muslim.
02:55And if you miss, for three Jumma, there's a Hadith that, no, it can, if the black spot is there, it can, without any valid reason.
03:02It can go to Kufr, without any valid reason.
03:06So normally you cannot miss unless if you're traveling, okay, you need not pray.
03:11It's not far to pray, you're traveling.
03:12Or if you're sick, or if there's a valid reason.
03:14But because it clashes with your education classes, this is no valid reason at all.
03:21And you're in West Bengal.
03:23MashaAllah.
03:24West Bengal is one of the states of India which has, mashaAllah, substantial percentage of Muslims.
03:31And one of the safe places, when I say in my talk, if you have to migrate, you know, one Kashmir has a large population, then Kerala is there.
03:37Even West Bengal has a large population and West Bengal has millions of Muslims.
03:44I'm sure if you tell to your teacher that, you know, you want to go to prayer during Jumma, I doubt the object.
03:50And mentioned in the constitution, the Muslim personal law is there.
03:54Worst comes to worst, you miss it.
03:56No problem.
03:58If you can see to that, you can change the timing of the class.
04:00If not, you miss it.
04:02There is no comparison between attending an educational class or Jumma Salah.
04:09And Jumma Salah can't be prayed in your hostel or your college.
04:14It has to go into a mosque or a place where Jumma is offered.
04:18If your college is a Muslim college where Jumma is offered, Alhamdulillah.
04:21So it should be read in a congregation and you cannot miss it for petty reasons, unless there's a valid reason, like traveling, and in physics, etc.
04:31So my advice to you, you're asking, is it right or is it wrong?
04:35It's totally wrong.
04:36It's haram.
04:37So you cannot miss your Jumma Salah.
04:40And see to it, my advice to you would be that pray, even your five times Salah in congregation in a mosque.
04:48Since I was living in West Bengal, West Bengal, MashaAllah, has got many mosques.
04:55Most of the, you will find mosques in most of the places.
04:58It will not be far away.
04:59So my advice to you would be, see to it that you pray five times Salah in a mosque in congregation.
05:05And Jumma Salah, in no way should you miss a single Jumma Salah, unless there's a valid reason.
05:10Hope that answers the question.
05:12Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
