The panel also examines the expectations and scrutiny the new manager will face, given the club's ambitions to compete at the top of the league.

Concerns are raised regarding the club's ownership and leadership, with the panel suggesting they have ground to make up with the fans. The pressure is on for the new manager to deliver success, or face potential consequences.

00:00Rangers have a new manager, Danny Rose in the door.
00:03Manager at the last, I should say.
00:06Lewis, I guess, before we get into anything, is it a good appointment?
00:13I think it's another risky one, Martin, I do.
00:16I think given his lack of managerial experience, that might be a slight cause for concern.
00:22Obviously, a hugely highly rated coach, given he's held assistant manager roles
00:28at some top clubs, Southampton, Bayern Munich, the German national team,
00:33prior to going into his first managerial position at Sheffield Wednesday,
00:36where he did really well, given the scenario.
00:40The people we've had a chance to speak to, it sounds like he's going to bring
00:44an exciting brand of football to play a lot of high-press, counter-press football.
00:53Again, the question remains, though, will the current group of players
00:57be good enough to carry it out?
00:58They weren't under Russell Martin, who obviously tried a kind of radical approach
01:02that simply seemed destined to fail from the outset,
01:06given that they went after Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat,
01:10and were left with an egg on their face.
01:14He's almost under huge scrutiny from the outset.
01:18He knows the demands that he's going into a club of, you know,
01:23the expectation levels are through the roof.
01:26It's simply not good enough that they're not competing with Celtic at this moment in time.
01:30But first things first, you need to drag them away from the bottom half of the table
01:34and try and get them back into the mix at the top end.
01:38You've been doing this job for over 20 years.
01:41You've seen a lot of ownerships in Scottish football,
01:44from Vladimir Romanov at Arts to several at Rangers.
01:49What are your initial early thoughts on this current ownership
01:52and sort of leadership structure that's in place?
01:56Yeah, it's certainly, they haven't covered themselves in glory
01:59in the first few months, you have to be honest.
02:01And I think that's probably where the fans' anger has certainly magnified,
02:08because, or been magnified should I say it,
02:11because they expected a lot more from this group
02:14and the way the direction they take Rangers in
02:16and it hasn't materialised yet.
02:17And there haven't been particularly great signs
02:19that things behind the scenes are going to materialise
02:22and take them in the direction they want to go.
02:24So, yeah, they have a lot of making up to do, I think.
02:29Russell Martin, the Russell Martin appointment
02:30clearly set them back quite a bit.
02:33And I feel sorry for Danny Roller a little bit
02:34because it's not his fault that he's been in this situation.
02:37But, again, he has taken the job
02:39and he must have an idea of what he's signed up for.
02:41So, yeah, the owners have got to,
02:44this has to be a success for them,
02:46otherwise the Rangers fans are going to be
02:47turning against the owners,
02:49never mind some of the people in the club hierarchy.
