20 October - National weather forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk.
Transcript
00:00Good morning.
00:01Well, after what was a wet end to the weekend, we have further blustery showers for many
00:07of us as we go through today, and most of them will be focused across England and Wales.
00:12They're going to be heavy with hail and some thunder too.
00:16But to the north of that, across northern England, much of Scotland, northern Ireland,
00:21plenty of sunshine coming through, but across the far north, that's where we have persistent
00:25rain across Shetland.
00:27We'll also hold on to some strong winds with coastal gales along the south coast, so feeling
00:32unpleasant here underneath any heavy downpours, but to the north of that, feeling pleasant
00:38where you get the sunshine and lighter winds.
00:41So as we go through this evening and overnight, the area of low pressure that's responsible
00:46for all of these showers will shift its way eastwards, so most of those showers will start
00:51easing across eastern areas as we go through the night.
00:54There will be some clear spells in between as well, and here we'll see a few mist and
00:58fog patches developing and turning a little bit chilly, but towards the west, that's where
01:03we'll see further showers moving through during the early hours.
01:08Otherwise, temperatures still holding up around 9 to 11 or 12 degrees, but in the clear spells,
01:14temperatures falling away, so it could be a little bit chilly with some mist and fog to start
01:19Tuesday.
01:20But there will still be some dry and bright weather across eastern areas to start Tuesday
01:24morning, but otherwise a focus for the showers more so across western areas, so this time
01:30more so across Northern Ireland, into Scotland, Northern England, Wales and the southwest.
01:35Now, they're not going to be as heavy or as frequent as today, and there will be some brighter
01:40interludes in between, and lighter winds as well compared to Monday.
01:46Otherwise temperatures still holding up around 14 to 16 degrees, so around average for the
01:52time of year.
01:53And then as we go through the week, looks like there's heavier spells of rain Wednesday evening
01:58into Thursday, and then something a little bit colder as we head into the weekend.
02:04But for more details on that, make sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss an update, and I'll
02:07see you soon.
