01:00And interesting that Aaron Glenn taking over to, as he said, you know, there's a process here.
01:06I'm here to lay a foundation.
01:08I want to create winning consistently, but moved on from Rodgers, brought in Justin Fields,
01:13hope to build behind him offensively, defensively.
01:16They appear to be a little bit more on schedule, except for they haven't won a game.
01:21We're in week seven.
01:25Third down eight.
01:29Fires.
01:31And let's see over there with Mike Jackson on the coverage.
01:36They're going to say catch made by Josh Reynolds.
01:39Short, but check the spot near the first down marker at the 30.
01:45You need to really get beyond that.
01:47Mike Jackson just all over him.
01:48How you came away with that football.
01:50I thought Jackson had it, and he just kind of laid it into the breadbasket of Reynolds.
01:56And talk about hand fighting right there.
01:59All right, fourth down, they're at their own 30, and the Carolina defense shuffling
02:04because the Jets are lining up to go for them.
02:07Well, they're bringing in the big guns right now.
02:09They're bringing in 95.
02:11Derek Brown, the big run stuffer.
02:15There's a flag and delay of game.
02:17Make sure that there's a challenge that may be on that catch or the spot from the Jets' sideline.
02:33Well, he's already won for one as a head coach, winning challenges.
02:37So they'll take a closer look, and as you know, they can still move it up a little more,
02:47and it still may not be enough for the first down.
02:50Yeah, well, I don't know exactly, like, where do you get possession?
02:54I just think it's a bad challenge overall.
02:56Where do you get possession on this ball?
02:59Because both of you are fighting for it, and it looked like, to me,
03:02Mike Jackson had the ball first and got ripped away.
03:08All right, we have our rules analyst, Mike Pereira, joining us, observing here.
03:13Mike, let's get a view from you as they review this.
03:16I say my view is that the ruling of first down was a good ruling because he gets the first contact.
03:23He gets the ball, the position of the ball when he's first contacted by the defender.
03:27So, to me, at that point, and if we looked at the live shot especially,
03:33you can see that, you know, to us he had broken the plane and made it first down.
03:37So, they will take a closer look, and maybe will we get one of those virtual spots, Mike?
03:46I don't know.
03:47I like when they do that and they show it to us with all those cameras that they have out there.
03:50The runner controlled the catch beyond the line to gain.
03:55It's a first down New York catch.
03:57All right.
03:57Don't mess with Mike.
03:58Yeah, don't mess with Mike.
04:00Hey, Mike won stink zero.
04:03That's all right.
04:03That's all right, Mike.
04:04And two for two is Aaron Glenn, but can he challenge his team to a victory?
04:09And Bryce Young, with some medical assistance there, headed and looks like a little bit of a limp as he goes to the locker room.
04:22Andy Dalton, the backup for Dave Canales and the Panthers.
04:29So, it was a big move on the challenge, and from the 31, a fresh set of downs for the Jets.
04:39Just under two and a half to go in the third.
04:48Taylor, incomplete, nothing was there.
04:51He just got rid of that in the neighborhood of Mason Taylor.
04:55And there's a flag down on the other side of the field at the 33.
04:58You're going to have an illegal man downfield.
05:00This is something that has plagued the league right now.
05:03All those passes that get extended or those screens, offensive linemen down there.
05:09And Dave Canales might decline the penalty.
05:15Ineligible player downfield, offense number 71.
05:19That penalty has declined.
05:20Second down.
05:22Yeah, where were you on that one, Mike Pereira?
05:25Nailed it.
05:25Well, you told us that you just Mike.
05:28So that Mike.
05:29I don't need you on this one, Mike.
05:30I had it.
05:31I had it.
05:31Blitz is on.
05:43Taylor delivers.
05:44Catch.
05:45And he gets across the 40.
05:46Diving is Mason Taylor.
05:48The 21-year-old second-round pick from LSU, and he got the first down.
05:53And we were told that there would be an uptick in opportunities to target him today.
05:58He's a developing player for this offense.
06:00Well, you put the ball on the numbers on the hands of the receiver, and just basically you're giving the receiver information.
06:08You're basically saying, hey, man, I want you to cut back inside from the leverage of the defense.
06:12So you communicate the leverage of the defense with the ball placement, and that's what creates yards after catch wonderfully done by the quarterback.
06:21Mason Taylor, second catch of the game.
06:24And going deep.
06:26Josh Reynolds back there but incomplete.
06:29So was Mike Jackson, who opposite J.C. Horn.
06:33We don't say Horn's name much because he's so darn good, but people have been picking on Mike Jackson.
06:38Yeah, he doesn't get a lot of action on the other side, but this is perfect.
06:41I want you to watch that left arm.
06:43You see that they call that being in phase right there.
06:46Want to feel the receiver so that I can look back to the ball, feel where he's at, and then use my momentum and use that lever to actually force him to the out-of-bounds mark
06:58so you limit the opportunity for that ball to come in inbounds.
07:02Perfect done.
07:03Perfectly done by Mike Jackson.
07:05Good to see a deep shot from the Jets.
07:08That's batted incomplete.
07:09They're going to roll it incomplete right away.
07:12There's pressure from Derrick Brown.
07:14He's big.
07:15He's powerful.
07:15He's also humble.
07:16Yeah.
07:18Derrick Brown is just, I mean, is like a big old grizzly bear just pushing back in there.
07:23When you collapse the pocket, even if you're not getting sacks, but you cut that space between the quarterback and the back of the offensive line,
07:33and it gives you that opportunity to get your hand in that passing lane and knock that thing down.
07:37So it's not even, you don't get sacks, you're still affecting the play.
07:41Let's do a new line in the K-7 corner.
07:45On third down 10, pressure coming.
07:50Taylor gets out of it and throws on the run.
07:53Wide open.
07:54Catch made inside the 40.
07:55Tyler Johnson has a Jet first down.
07:58Just mirror the ball.
08:04He's going to come from this side of the football field, and when he sees the quarterback escape out to his right,
08:10steps up, gets out to the right.
08:12He's just going to mirror the quarterback, give him a friendly target on the sideline.
08:17Tell you what, that is scramble drill 101, and the Jets are starting to move the football a little bit.
08:22Love to see some tempo.
08:24Love to see an uptick.
08:25Got to run the ball, got to continue that part of this offense.
08:28Johnson, a former Buck, and Brees Hall.
08:33The snap, they're going to get creative.
08:34Back to Tyrod Taylor.
08:36Throwing downfield, and at the last moment, Lazard had it knocked away.
08:41It was an underthrown ball, but Trevin Wallace got back there for the Panthers.
08:46Man, they had that set up perfectly.
08:49Got to throw the ball.
08:50You had it.
08:51Just put some air on it, and watch.
08:53As all this goes, watch Trevin Wallace.
08:55He's just going to take off down the football field.
08:58He feels it right down the sideline.
09:01Got to put some air under that.
09:02That's a touchdown for Lazard if you just throw that to the back pylon.
09:06Well, it was well executed until the very end on the underthrown, but nice to see some creativity.
09:17Taylor time.
09:19Going long.
09:19He's got him for the end zone.
09:21And knocked away.
09:24Is that intercepted?
09:25J.C. Horn.
09:26That's back-to-back underthrown footballs by the quarterback with wide open wide receivers.
09:45And J.C. Horn, this is just about staying on the go.
09:50Look at how bad he's beaten, but he just keeps fighting.
09:53Gets that one hand up there.
09:56Did he secure the football?
09:58Did he juggle it coming down?
10:00Great make-up speed right there on Reynolds.
10:03The official.
10:04Let's just see.
10:05Standing right there.
10:12Josh Reynolds was the target and frustrated.
10:15They have confirmed that he did hold on to the football.
10:18That was a spectacular catch.
10:21And remaining inbounds with the interception.
10:25We just were talking about how teams stay away from J.C. Horn.
10:29That's his second interception this season.
10:31And Andy Dalton has come into the game protecting a 10-point lead.
10:37We'll get an update on Bryce Young when possible and pass that along as Rico Dowdle carries.
10:45What happened, we'll go back a little bit at the time.
10:48You know, we don't know Bryce Young, but apparently they're going to call this an ankle injury,
10:53and he's questionable the rest of the way.
10:55All right, there, get ankle stepped on a little bit as he's trying to scramble out.
11:03That was Briggs.
11:04It looked like he accidentally stepped on the ankle of Bryce Young,
11:08went into the locker room, and Andy Dalton's running this offense now.
11:12End of the third quarter, Carolina with the football and the lead in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
11:29Scoring by quarter here as we start the fourth.
11:32J.C. Horn, his seventh career interception.
11:36Sauce Gardner, by the way, headed to the locker room.
11:38We'll get a report on him, so he's not out there for the Jets on defense.
11:41And Andy Dalton has come in.
11:42It's been a very physical game, and that's one thing Dave Canales said.
11:46We want to hang our hat on toughness.
11:50The run game reinforces that.
11:52Our defense helps with that.
11:53Gardner's played a heck of a game on McMillan.
11:56As I mentioned, in the locker room.
11:58The pitch they've been sharing.
12:02This is Dowdle, and Rico Dowdle shoved out of bounds at the 25-yard line by Andre Sisco.
12:08Well, the defensive coordinator, Jiro Evero, talked about this team and their toughness,
12:15and so did Canales, and you get this from Dowdle.
12:17Yeah, and you know what?
12:19Finishing runs, they've done a great job of that, getting their offensive line out on the edges.
12:24And why do you do that against the Jets?
12:26Well, you want to stay away from 95 Quinton Williams.
12:29You want to stay away from Harrison Phillips in the middle of that defense.
12:32So attack the edges with your running game.
12:35Dalton throws, and at the 40, Leggett hangs on in the sunshine, and he looks like he's hurting.
12:52Xavier Leggett, the second-year player from South Carolina, who had the touchdown grab in the opening half.
13:05Remember, he had the hamstring that cost him a couple of games earlier in the season.
13:11There's a leg.
13:12I don't know if that stretched him out.
13:16A leg in the air as Stevens runs into it.
13:22There are some Panther fans here as Leggett that made the trip.
13:27As Leggett jogs over to the sideline.
13:30Again, they have Hunter Renfro inactive.
13:33He had stepped in when Coker was injured back in August, who is active today.
13:38It has not been much of a factor for Carolina.
13:43Meanwhile, the Jet defense have played well enough for their team to win,
13:46and they still have a chance to.
13:48See what the backup quarterback can do against them without Sauce Gardner.
13:53Rico Dowdle, his 11th carry, and that's what he does well, crossing midfield for a first down.
14:08Chuba Hubbard, who got the start for Carolina, also 11 carries.
14:12Yeah, and you know what?
14:13It's all about blocking the edge, and you watch the edge.
14:16Man, they're going to get this edge block pull behind Christensen.
14:19You're going to see it, receivers right there, Tremaine.
14:22You see Coker out there securing that edge to get you out to the perimeter of the offense.
14:29And at this point for the Jets, it's about what pressures can we bring?
14:33How can we create a takeaway right now to get us back in this game?
14:37Dowdle again inside the 45.
14:41He came in leading the league with an average of almost 6 a carry,
14:45and he's averaging over 5 a carry in this game.
14:47And Canales referred to him as kind of a David Montgomery.
14:51He was looking at this like the Lions situation with his two running backs sharing time,
14:54you know, the Gibbs-Montgomery.
14:56But he said they're both more like Montgomery,
14:58so I don't think I have to change plays out there, whether it's Dowdle or Hubbard.
15:02No, you certainly don't.
15:03And like I said, for the Jets defensively, how do you create a turnover at this point?
15:07What kind of pressure packages can you do?
15:09You know you're going to get a big-time run game, right?
15:12You know they're going to lean into that run game,
15:14but can you get them in long-yarded situations?
15:18Straight ahead, that's a good stop for the Jets.
15:19Defense Panthers are over 100 rush yards in the game combined.
15:26And slow getting up is Rico Dowdle.
15:33Came in after back-to-back games.
15:35Over 200 rush yards one game, 230 scrimmage yards in another.
15:43Both he and Chuba Hubbard talked about sharing the load
15:46and not worrying about who got the start.
15:48Pass is delivered right on time.
15:59Dalton to Leggett.
16:00He stepped back into the game.
16:02Thought I heard Leggett at the end of that.
16:05Offensive, that barking out the signals.
16:07They're going to bring pressure this way.
16:09Linebacker's going to come over that way.
16:10Stop it.
16:11Excuse me.
16:12That is the safety, Isaiah Oliver, but how do you create stops?
16:17How do you get off the football field?
16:19That's the question.
16:20Fourth down and short now.
16:21They're going again.
16:23Two out of three in this game.
16:24Going on fourth.
16:25We get seven catches.
16:26Leads everybody in this game on eight targets.
16:31Just using snap count here.
16:33It's Dowdle and rams in to anybody, and everybody was in his way
16:41and got the first out, inside the 35,
16:44and it keeps the clock running and the chains moving.
16:47Man, that's just based on what we believe we are right here.
16:51Double teams off the ball.
16:53Corbett, big-time punch.
16:56He loved Mays at the center position, driving right here.
17:00And when you get that, when you have that much confidence
17:03and belief in the guys up front,
17:05this is what we've done in our two-game win streak.
17:08We're going to lean into you big guys.
17:09And I love it by Dave Canales.
17:12That was a Rico charge, and here he goes again, Dowdle,
17:16inside when we're near New Jersey.
17:17We're in Jersey, right?
17:18So he gets out of bounds inside the 30.
17:20I love this change of pace, right?
17:22When you get shotgun and you have a gun run normally,
17:26you're going opposite to the way the back is.
17:28But that time they hand it to Rico, and he goes back play side off that power look.
17:34Rico really getting some work done here.
17:36And whatever they did, out of fairness,
17:38because Hubbard was the starter before his injury, his calf injury, and returning.
17:42I mean, it looks like Rico Dowdle was saying to the team, to the coach, to the owner,
17:46you know, I should be your starter the rest of the way.
17:49They'll sort that out.
17:50On second down, ball knocked around, it hit complete.
17:59Sanders, coming back from his injury, he's missed the last three weeks with an ankle injury.
18:07Well, here he is down here on the bottom of your screen, and great throw by Andy Dalton.
18:13Could not hold out a good defense, pulling that out.
18:16It almost looked like it could have been a catch and a fumble.
18:20So, but he juggled it and clearly ruled incomplete.
18:25It did not make a football move, I think is what they'll basically say.
18:30They didn't make a catching move either.
18:31Yeah, not catching, not football move.
18:34Great hands by Stevenson there.
18:36The timeout, Carolina.
18:42Canales came running over on a third down five.
18:46Yeah, and that's, you know, we talk about it.
18:48Steven's there.
18:50You got to make a play, right?
18:51You got to get your hands in there.
18:52You got to be able to create a turnover.
18:53You got to do something to get yourself into this game.
18:56It's only a two-score game, ten points right now.
18:59And, you know, as oddly as it seems for a team at three and three,
19:02and Carolina had a bit of a rough start to the season,
19:04but look at this, in the fourth quarter, this was an interesting,
19:08you know, I'm not big on numbers.
19:09You can twist them and torture them any way you want,
19:11but 38-point differential in the fourth quarter.
19:13That's the best in the NFL for Dave Canales' Carolina Panthers.
19:16Yeah, and some of that is you're down, you know, early in the season,
19:20and then ultimately you've been in close games,
19:23and you've found a way to come back and win.
19:24Remember, they were down 17-0 against Miami a couple weeks ago,
19:29came back and won that football game,
19:30and then they were down late, put a drive together
19:33to win the game against Dallas.
19:35So they've done that in the second half,
19:38and especially in that fourth quarter.
19:43Hubbard comes in on third and five.
19:48Pressure coming, and he's sacked!
19:51Surge again with Jamie and Sherwood.
19:54He just could come from right here.
20:02He's come in there off the blitz.
20:06Had the back on that side.
20:09Hugged up the linebacker in man-to-man.
20:12He sees that's Maui Noah that hugs up,
20:16and the back goes to him.
20:17Sherwood comes unmolested through the line of scrimmage
20:20to knock down Andy Dalton.
20:23Yeah, that's the fifth game this year now.
20:25Sherwood has had 10 tackles or more.
20:27Gets his first sack.
20:29Again, he's been a team-high tackler
20:31in each of the first six games for this team.
20:33Worked his way up from special teams as a mainstay,
20:36kind of a heart-and-soul player in the middle of that Jet defense.
20:39And so the decision here, there's some confusion.
20:46Jets allowed to substitute.
20:48Delay a game.
20:50Offense.
20:51Five-yard penalty.
20:53Still fourth down.
20:55Yeah, so Carolina probably doing that intentionally to back it up
20:59so Martin has room to try and pin the Jets back inside their own 10-yard line.
21:05Still a 10-point game with nine minutes to go.
21:16Isaiah Wilson will be back,
21:18and coming off a 68-yard his season long a moment ago,
21:22he just wants to drop this in where it's difficult.
21:25Fair catch called for.
21:27Short at the 15-yard line of the Jets.
21:29Defense keeping a minute.
21:36What can Tyrod Taylor and the Jet offense do?
21:45Here in a jersey, Bryce Young is out.
21:48The remainder of the game for the Panthers with an ankle injury,
21:50and Sauce Gardner out for the Jets defense,
21:53evaluated, being evaluated for a concussion.
21:56Sarah Kustak on top of both of those injuries.
21:58Tyrod Taylor batted away.
22:05So it was a benching.
22:07That's Derek Brown again.
22:08He's had a heck of a game up front.
22:09They talk about a run-stomper, but he's affected, as you pointed out, Mark,
22:12the passing game.
22:13You know, I asked Aaron Glenn.
22:14I mean, they're running out of time here, the Jets,
22:17to try and get their first win in Week 7,
22:19and I asked about a timetable with his culture and his foundation.
22:22He says, no, no, that's the worst thing you do is have a timetable.
22:25So what's more important is building a foundation.
22:32And trouble hanging on.
22:34That's dropped.
22:35Yeah, well, I mean, you look at where the Jets are right now defensively,
22:39back-to-back weeks, they've played well enough to win.
22:42Offensively, they've been atrocious.
22:44They have not been able to protect their quarterback.
22:46So the first thing, you know,
22:48we all want them to throw the ball down the football field.
22:50We want them to create offensive explosive plays and all those things.
22:54The first thing you have to do is protect the quarterback.
22:56The first thing you have to do is give the quarterback time.
22:59Run the football.
23:00Give him some time.
23:02Those are the things that need to get fixed first.
23:04And then it's about pushing the ball down the football field.
23:07And do you have the right quarterback for that foundation as Taylor spins out of that
23:11and throws on the run and a beautiful play by Tyron Taylor
23:15as Tyler Johnson makes another big catch, his second of this game.
23:19Well, now you think about it.
23:20If you're the New York Jets, you missed two touchdowns in the last drive,
23:26and now all of a sudden, off a broken play,
23:29you get it to Johnson right here on the corner route, wide open,
23:33and now you're almost at the 50-yard line.
23:37So, you know, you look at this as we've produced on the offensive side of the ball.
23:41Now it's just about executing and connecting on some of those deep balls.
23:4735-yard pickup.
23:49Tyron Taylor is going to have to do something, and he'll keep it
23:53and wisely gets something out of that.
23:55And Carissa now has a game break.
23:58Thank you, Chris.
23:58A lot of question marks around this Eagles offense,
24:01but Jalen Hurts answering that today, throwing his third touchdown pass.
24:04This one to A.J. Brown, his second of the day.
24:06Eagles up nine over the Vikings.
24:09Chris?
24:10Thank you.
24:10And back to Aaron Glenn, who he's great to talk to.
24:12He's positive.
24:13Some of the players have said, look, if things are going bad,
24:15he is the right kind of guy to have as our coach.
24:18He talks to Bill Parcells on a regular basis,
24:20has talked about his time in Detroit starting out with a losing record
24:24and building something over time.
24:25The question is, how much time?
24:27How much time do you have?
24:29Pass and caught.
24:31Lazard goes out of bounds.
24:33Let's check in with Sarah.
24:35Well, Chris, you've been talking about this foundation that Aaron Gled said,
24:38and Bill Parcells, someone who he leans on.
24:41He coached Glenn nearly three decades ago with his Jets franchise.
24:44Never really stopped coaching him.
24:46Still calls him every week.
24:47Called him this Monday.
24:48It was a whole lot of tough love.
24:49But Glenn has said he's one guy who gets it and helps him to block out that outside noise.
24:55Oh, he's a great, thank you, Sarah.
24:56Great mentor to have.
24:58They look like the Jets moved after they went to the line quickly.
25:03All start.
25:05Offense.
25:06Number 70.
25:07Five-yard penalty.
25:09Still first down.
25:12And these are self-inflicted wounds.
25:14You know, when you are, when you're a struggling offense, you cannot have these pre-snap penalties.
25:19Jumping the gun a little bit right there for Membu.
25:22And I will say this about the Jets right now.
25:27You talk about that timetable, man.
25:29It takes a while to get the right guys.
25:32The guys that are your type of players.
25:34So, that's one thing that you just can't do overnight.
25:36But what a difference Tyrod Taylor has made after a few of those throws that weren't where he wanted them.
25:43Connects with Josh Reynolds.
25:45And that's good enough for a first down.
25:46Nick Scott delivering the hit.
25:49Yeah, the foundation you build, you go upward.
25:52And the quarterback, the most important position.
25:56You build around that, especially if you have a defense.
25:59Taylor.
26:00Taylor for the end zone.
26:03In and out of the heads of Arian Smith.
26:08Mike Jackson on the coverage.
26:11I mean, somebody's got to make a play, right?
26:13Two under-thrown balls.
26:15You get another deep one right now.
26:16And why the Carolina Panthers are letting the Jets get behind them, I have no idea.
26:21But, I mean, that's just one.
26:24You've got to come away with that ball.
26:26Well, that was the knock.
26:27Hands in there.
26:27Oh, gosh, actually, Mike Jackson just his hands in late to deflect that ball.
26:33Yeah, that was the knockaway on the part of Jackson recovering.
26:36But a well-thrown ball by Taylor.
26:38Almost a big play.
26:40And can he get away?
26:42He gets away enough.
26:44That's worth a lot, throwing it as Wallace was in his face.
26:48Somebody, well, that's what they're saying.
26:50Is there somebody in the area here?
26:52All right, hey.
26:52They're discussing.
26:53You've got to step up, and you've got to take people on.
26:57And there is no intentional grounding here.
27:06Okay.
27:07Just making sure.
27:13They're going to need.
27:13Is there a penalty here?
27:18They're marking it off inside the 30.
27:21They're going to go for the field goal instead.
27:22All right.
27:23So, they're going to make it, hopefully, a one-score game from a Jets point of view.
27:28As Nick Folk.
27:32From 47 yards away.
27:34The kick.
27:41And he got it.
27:4613-6.
27:48Something positive on that Jets side line.
27:50Panther fans making the trip on a nice day in New Jersey.
28:01And the Jets fans, they want more offense after the field goal, making it a one-possession game.
28:07Panthers trying to win their first game on the road this year.
28:11And for Bryce Young, who's now out of this game with that ankle injury, 1-15 in his career on the road.
28:18With under six and a half to play.
28:25Folk, who's made both of his field goal tries.
28:27It's been the best the Jets offense can do in the end zone.
28:31And they will down it right there.
28:34Friday, the World Series begins on Fox.
28:37Shohei Otani and the reigning champion Dodgers are waiting to see who they'll play.
28:42Mariners or Blue Jays?
28:44Game one of the World Series.
28:46Coverage Friday at 7 Eastern on Fox.
28:50How about that game Otani had the other day?
28:53Three homers and ten strikeouts.
28:55And they weren't just homers.
28:56I mean, they were, like, shots out of this world.
28:59So, I mean, it's got to be the greatest game in the history of playoff baseball, doesn't it?
29:05How can one guy do what Otani does?
29:09Meanwhile, Hubbard, 11 carries, 31 yards.
29:12Dowdle, 15 carries, 71 yards.
29:17Three catches between the two and Hubbard the back here.
29:23Chuba Hubbard and the Jets were ready for that.
29:25Three Jets on top of him.
29:26And the Jets defense, the team down early.
29:30Once made play after play to keep them in it.
29:32Man, they had just about everybody on the line of scrimmage right here.
29:36Knowing that they've got to defend the run.
29:38They do a great job.
29:40There, that guy is again, Quinton Williams, 95, right in the center of everything.
29:46He's just making all kinds of plays in the middle of that defensive line.
29:50And just to recap, Andy Dalton coming in in the second half after Young left with an ankle injury and is ruled out.
29:58There you go.
29:59There you go.
30:02Some movement.
30:05And then flags.
30:12That's what happens when you got 95 across from you, right?
30:19This guy's across from you, makes this guy a little bit antsy.
30:22You can see him move there.
30:23He's trying to get out of that.
30:25Snap the ball, get out of there, because 95 is coming down on you.
30:29That's Quinton Williams.
30:31He's been a dominant factor.
30:32Both guys, 95 for the Jets, Quinton Williams, and 95 for the Panthers.
30:39Derek Brown, been dominant today.
30:41Andy Dalton throws and completes Lee Getz, shoved backward as soon as he caught it around the 35, 34-yard line.
30:57Well, you know, you talk about a four-minute offense, Carolina's hoping for a five-and-a-half minute.
31:02They don't necessarily need to score again.
31:05That might be the dagger in the heart, but they do want to chew up as much time as they can, facing a third and 11.
31:11Can this be the Jets' chance for a win?
31:23The defense will have to make the play right here.
31:31Pressure is picked up as Dalton rolls and throws, looking for McMillan, and incomplete.
31:38The defense will have to make the ball out of the game, being evaluated for a concussion, and there is no flag at another stop from the Jets' defense.
31:50Both guys hand-fighting a little bit right there.
31:54Looks like an errant ball.
31:55I mean, I'm okay without throwing a flag on that right there.
31:59Both guys hand-fighting a little bit.
32:01There wasn't—I don't think there was any significant contact that created—like, if that's an on-target throw, maybe you throw that flag, but that ball was off.
32:11Isaiah Williams back it up from inside the 15 of the Jets, right ahead.
32:20He picks up 19 yards, maybe 14 yards, excuse me, on a good return.
32:26Coming up, NFL doubleheader on Fox America's Game of the Week.
32:29Jaden Daniels and the Commanders take on Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.
32:33What a year Dak Prescott is having.
32:37Check local listings for the game in your area.
32:39Some will see Packers, Cardinals.
32:42And for Carolina, they started 0-2, losing to Jacksonville and Arizona, but then they shut out Atlanta,
32:49turned their season around, and have won three out of their last four coming into this one.
32:54Tyrod Taylor is on the move, Brown chasing him.
33:03Derrick Brown chasing him all the way out of bounds.
33:07How about that?
33:07335 pounds, and you can run like that if you're Derrick Brown?
33:12I mean, chasing down the quarterback.
33:17Forcing him out of bounds for no game.
33:19The numbers on Taylor, and that one interception, it was a deep ball in the end zone that J.C.
33:26Horn just made an amazing play on.
33:29A couple of opportunities missed for touchdown throws, but the offense has moved much more efficiently with him.
33:39A couple of field goals, floating one, and reaching up.
33:44It's intercepted by Horn again.
33:46It looked like Josh Reynolds was going to catch that, but Horn got his hands on it first and wouldn't let go.
33:58Now, just watch J.C. Horn one-on-one on the edge.
34:02Watch his feel right here.
34:03As soon as he feels the receiver looking for the ball, he flips his hips and his head around and picks that ball off for number two.
34:13Blitz pressure off the edge.
34:15He knows he's one-on-one.
34:17Feels that pressure.
34:18What a play by J.C. Horn.
34:20Those are two spectacular interceptions from J.C. Horn.
34:26That one just reading the receiver, the body language of the receiver.
34:31Reynolds, when he goes for the ball, J.C. Horn flips that head around, locates it in the air, secures the interception.
34:42And now you know why people don't throw in his direction.
34:45Always talk about corners that have ball skills.
34:55That's where you see it right there.
34:56That's what they call ball skills.
34:58Balls in the air.
34:59Can you locate it and can you catch it?
35:04Back to Dowdle and chewing up the clock.
35:09Jets will have three timeouts and the two-minute warning.
35:12And their defense, I'm sure, worn out.
35:16The game, J.C. Horn.
35:18For the Jets, they can get the ball back for their offense in a hurry.
35:24We'll have hope.
35:26And that's what this season has been about.
35:29Hope for the first-year head coach of the Jets.
35:34And the Panthers trying to go to 4-3 for the first time in six years after the seven-game mark of the season.
35:45But we're not there yet.
35:48Dowdle looking for room and he's going to drag a jet with him short of the first down.
35:53Like it was Sherwood got a hold of him.
35:56While we get to that four-minute offense, what do you want to do?
35:59You want to control the line of scrimmage.
36:00You want to secure the football.
36:03You want to snap the ball with about two seconds left on the clock.
36:07You want to let this thing run as deep as you can.
36:11The clock is every much as much of an opponent for the Jets than the Carolina Panthers are.
36:18Yeah, and if you're the Panthers, I mean, if you get a field goal here,
36:22you've locked this game up for all intents and purposes.
36:25But you don't want to play it too safe and give the ball back.
36:31So he's going to throw it.
36:33And incomplete.
36:36Leggett was further downfield.
36:37Dalton was just trying to get rid of it.
36:42And not sure that was what they had in mind on a key third down to two.
36:46You know, you've just dominated the line of scrimmage.
36:50This guy has been a dominant player.
36:52Your offensive line has been great.
36:54You run the fake here.
36:56And you know you're getting pressure.
36:58You know the Jets are coming after you on every single play.
37:02Better off popping a run there, keeping that clock moving.
37:05Isaiah Williams, another big defensive stop by the Jets, will watch this sail.
37:18And, you know, now the official can watch,
37:19but they do have a chip on the ball to help them exactly mark that spot over on the sideline.
37:26Well, you always love a competitive game, no matter who the teams are or what week it is.
37:31And we have a great view on a nice day in New Jersey.
37:33And the Jets, you know, this is all you can ask for.
37:36Your defense has kept you in it.
37:37You've got a veteran quarterback with a chance to tie or possibly win the game in the fourth quarter.
37:41You know, we always talk about complementary football, right?
37:44And your defense has bailed you out of this game,
37:46giving you a chance to make it a one-score game.
37:49Now offensively, can you make a play?
37:51Hey, Carolina Panthers, you cannot let the Jets get behind you.
37:56They've let them get behind them several different times.
37:59The Carolina Panthers have made plays,
38:01but you have got to stay deep on the defense.
38:04Taylor is going to be sacked.
38:06You know, this Carolina defense,
38:08combination of Princely,
38:11Roman Mielin, and Derrick Brown.
38:15Derrick Brown has just been all over the place.
38:18And when you're that big and you've created that much pressure,
38:21just moving guys back,
38:23it's not fair to be able to make a move like that,
38:25make a swim move inside and get that pressure on the quarterback.
38:30And that's the sixth sack of the game for Carolina.
38:33That's more than they had for the entire season coming in.
38:37As Taylor drops it to Mason Taylor,
38:40whose father, of course,
38:41Jason Taylor, the Pro Football Hall of Famer.
38:45And it had some outstanding numbers at LSU.
38:49And they need some big plays from somebody at the two-minute warning.
38:55The Jets will have timeouts,
38:57but they need to get downfield fast.
39:00The Panthers' defense coming up big,
39:03especially a couple of picks from Horn.
39:05Third down, 10.
39:12All three timeouts under two to play.
39:16That's Lazard in motion.
39:21Tyrod Taylor has it.
39:24Throws middle of the field and knocked away by Mike Jackson.
39:27So they went away from Horn,
39:29but Josh Reynolds was covered by Jackson.
39:32And it's fourth down.
39:35Well, I tell you what,
39:36you're living on the edge of your Carolina
39:38because you're still bringing pressure
39:39going after the quarterback,
39:41playing man-to-man on the back end.
39:43And they're going to kick it away here with the three timeouts.
39:46I think they're hoping their defense can do it one more time.
39:49I think they're hoping their defense can score
39:50because that might be the only chance for the Jets.
39:52Well, that's the defense.
39:53You saw Daryl Everett who said to us,
39:55we don't want to be,
39:56we talked about it as a Panther defensive unit.
39:58We don't want to be thought of as the same old Panthers.
40:01And they certainly have looked like the new and improved.
40:04Carolina Panthers.
40:07Now they did fake a punt last week, effectively,
40:10but can't do it here.
40:12Etienne, inside the 35,
40:16puts a move on and up out of bounds around the 43-yard line.
40:22So after back-to-back through-the-roof performances,
40:26Dowdle didn't get the start today, but he got his carries.
40:29Yeah, he did get some carries today,
40:30didn't get the start,
40:31but he is electric.
40:33And they stayed out of the middle of the football field,
40:36got him on the edge,
40:37caught the ball,
40:38just did a little bit of everything.
40:41Rico Dowdle has put together three fantastic weeks,
40:45back-to-back-to-back.
40:46Well, he seems well-rested,
40:48so he doesn't need to worry about cramping.
40:51And Juba Hubbard, 12 carries, 29 yards,
40:56and also had a couple of catches in the game,
40:59but the average for Dowdle,
41:01over four and a half a carry.
41:03Hubbard gets this one.
41:05And a timeout used.
41:08The Jets will use one of their three remaining.
41:11So two left.
41:12Even you can do that, Matt.
41:14Yes.
41:14And if you can get a first down,
41:16you end this game.
41:17So that's where you are with the Carolina Panthers right now.
41:21Get us a first down.
41:22This game is over.
41:23And how does Aaron Glenn keep his team
41:29on that foundation discussion and culture?
41:34I mean, they've lost.
41:35I talked about the two-point defeats that the Jets,
41:38you know, they lose with the Steelers by two
41:40and the Buccaneers by two.
41:41And he's, you know, there's no moral victory.
41:43He said that.
41:43The Broncos by two
41:45and having a chance in this one in the fourth quarter,
41:47as they did last week.
41:50But ultimately, it's about winning.
41:52That's what Bill Parcells, his mentor, says.
41:54You're judged by your record.
41:56Well, here's the good news if you're a Jets fan.
41:58I mean, this defense is legitimate.
42:00And I said last week, I told you,
42:02against the Broncos,
42:03they out-hit the Broncos on a consistent basis.
42:06Here you have them with an offense that has been,
42:10I mean, to call it anemic,
42:12would be an insult to anemic fangs.
42:14Only allowed 13 points on the afternoon.
42:17So another brilliant performance by this Jets defense.
42:21At some point, you've got to get Steve Wilkes,
42:24you've got to get some offensive production
42:26to kind of balance this thing out.
42:29But right now, this is what's leading the football team,
42:32the Jets defense.
42:33You know, in a league where on any weekend,
42:35teams, underdogs, beaten up teams,
42:38can pull off upsets and get a win somehow.
42:41The Jets, the only winless team.
42:43And if they go 0-7,
42:44it'll be the third time since, what, 96 and then 2020.
42:51Dalton, sideline for Leggett,
42:53and he's under it, and he's got it.
42:55And that is a first and a finish for Carolina.
42:57Well, you know what you're doing out here,
43:02man-to-man, because why?
43:04You've got to bring pressure.
43:05You've got to create a turnover.
43:07Man-to-man defense against Leggett,
43:09and can't get it done.
43:11Thomas gets beat over the top,
43:13and that is the ball game for the Carolina Panthers.
43:16And the value of a backup quarterback
43:18who can come in and finish for a team,
43:20Andy Dalton,
43:21with Bryce Young says,
43:24I got your back.
43:25And the Panther defense,
43:26you'll be talking about them,
43:27they had allowed 22 points or more
43:29in the last 13 road games.
43:32And the Jets' final timeout,
43:34they've allowed just a couple of field goals today.
43:36And for him,
43:37and the frustration of that entire defense,
43:41they'll go back to work
43:43and get ready for a trip to Cincinnati
43:47to take on the Bengals before they get a bye week.
43:51The Panthers, meanwhile,
43:52tough games with the Bills and then the Packers.
43:58But they're in the race.
43:59They're in the hunt in the NFC South.
44:09Career numbers for Xavier Leggett, by the way,
44:12the nine catches for 92 yards.
44:14And Jet fans,
44:16if they're at Camry,
44:17they came in here looking for some hope.
44:19They're going to have to hang it on their defense.
44:23I don't think,
44:24I heard some people saying they may not win a game,
44:26but I don't think,
44:27I mean,
44:28given the Jets' schedule,
44:30there'll be opportunities
44:31with this team and this defense
44:33to get a few wins.
44:34Yeah,
44:35well,
44:35if this defense continues to play this way,
44:36you're going to create some turnovers.
44:38You're going to create some short fields.
44:40You're going to create some opportunities
44:41for an offense that's trying to find its way.
44:4513-6,
44:46the final.
44:47A physically proving game.
44:50This has been a Rich Gross production.
44:52Chris Myers,
44:53Mark Schlerer,
44:54for our entire crew.
44:55Bonus coverage of the Eagles.
