Burnley 2 Leeds United 0: YEP video verdict

Leeds United writer Lee Sobot on the 2-0 defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor.

00:01Hello there, Lee Sobot at the Orch's Revening Post here from Turf Moor where

00:05unfortunately it's a disappointing debrief from Leeds United's point of view

00:10following a 2-0 defeat to Scott Parker's Clarets for a fourth defeat of the

00:14season for Daniel Farker's side and that's now two defeats in a row obviously

00:18coming on the back of the home defeat against Tottenham before the

00:21international break and just a very disappointing afternoon all round really

00:26although there are stats you can look at in this game such as you know the

00:29shots on target the attempts that Leeds had etc etc but we all know the only

00:33thing that really matters is that score on the top corner of the screen which is

00:37a 2-0 victory for Burnley and to be honest it looked like it was going to be that

00:44way from a long way out once Leeds went 1-0 down

00:47obviously the Premier League is different but we all know how good Burnley's defence

00:50is and has been especially last season and when Leeds go 1-0 down against them

00:54that's going to give themselves you know a very very hard task and it was just a

00:58very very disappointing goal to concede which put Burnley in front it has to be

01:02said it was a fantastic cross from Carl Walker from the right flank absolutely we

01:05all know the quality he's got there was like oohs and ahhs around the stadium as

01:09that went in so I think everybody knew how much danger there could be but it's really

01:12disappointing the way that Leslie Ugochukwu got in there in the middle of the box

01:16in between sort of like Pascal Stroik and Joe Rodon but it looked like Anton Stack might have been

01:21marking him I don't know be interested to see what other fans' point of view is on you know what the

01:26problem was with the marking there for that one who was at fault so to speak but just as a unit

01:33you know obviously it just wasn't good enough and that was 1-0 to Burnley but obviously Leeds had lots of chances as well

01:39um and you know the one that stands out in the first half was Brendan Aronson being played in

01:44but unable to beat and keep him out of the Bravka winner you know you've got to score then really

01:49those chances I mean Leeds had a lot of chances in this game but that was the one that really stood

01:53out um and you know obviously that has to hit the back of the net and just you know the strike was just

01:58a bit too close to him really and took the ball onto the post a big chance gone but there were others as well

02:03Carver Lewin had an overhead kick um attempts and you know there were you know various bits and bobs and

02:07threatening moments but just didn't have the quality to put it in the back of the net um

02:11at 1-0 you're always still in it but I think um once it went 2-0 um in the second half um you know then

02:18I think everybody nobody could really see a way back then despite all the chances that Leeds did have

02:23and it's actually stunning strike to make it 2-0 um from uh Luneshua uh absolutely amazing strike from about 25

02:29yards out to um double the Clarets lead but even that came from Leeds giving the ball away in midfield

02:34um you know were the ball to him and you know stunning strike yes but just cheap the way that

02:39Leeds gave it away in the middle of the park and you know realists really the the tale of it is I

02:43mean it's it's not rocket science when you lose 2-0 but it's basically problems at the both ends of

02:48the pitch really in this one um because they had plenty of chances and they had four times the amount of

02:52shots that Burnley did but just couldn't take any of them and there were lots more on the second half as well

02:56and obviously conceding two goals at the other end and you know one of them's

02:59from a cross into the mixer where you know the guy's just got two free and you know Pascal

03:04Stroik turned around and showed his frustration straight away but I mean the marking there has

03:07got to be better um to a dangerous cross like that and as I say giving the ball away um in midfield as

03:12well um the one thing I would say about today if you're looking for positive points bright spots

03:18if you like was I thought Gabby Goodmanson was very very good indeed I mean pretty much every game

03:22I watch him at the moment I think he's you know fast becoming one of Leeds his standout best players

03:26and he played very very well at left back um created a lot of chances whether it be through

03:31forays forward or crosses into the box but also very very good defensively talk about Leeds having

03:36chances he did make two big clearances stroke tackles in the second the first half otherwise

03:41it might have been two mil to Burnley at half time to be honest so he was very very good um Daniel

03:45Farker went through various substitutions in the second half but nothing really you know they had

03:49chances Leeds but just didn't have the quality like I say to put it in the back of the net and um just a

03:53just a very very disappointing um afternoon all in all really be interested to see um let us know

04:06if you agree with the Goodmanson thing I think most people do that he was definitely the standout player

04:09from a Leeds point of view although the standard was pretty low it has to be said but a very

04:13disappointing day um all around here um as it's finished Burnley 2 Leeds United 0.
