00:00Human people condemn the actions of U.S. imperialism against Venezuela as an act of solidity in Havana.
00:19In Argentina, family members, organizations and people with disabilities rallied in the Belgrano
00:27neighborhood to express their rejection of Ayurveda's neoliberal measures.
00:31An Israeli forces attacked southern Lebanon on Friday, causing damage to civilian facilities in the city of Ansar.
00:41Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Jesús Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:51We begin with the news.
01:04On Friday, the Cuban people condemned the actions of U.S. imperialism against Venezuela in an act of solidity
01:10that took place in front of the statue of Liberator Simón Bolívar on President's Avenue in Havana.
01:15In response to the recent approval of covert CIA operations against the Bolívarian nation by the Donald Trump administration,
01:21the first Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel,
01:26presided over the event in support of Venezuela and his counterpart, Nicolás Maduro.
01:31In this scenario, the Cuban people denounced the threat of war to which the Caribbean is subjected due to U.S. interference,
01:38and remembered the historical ties that unite Cubans and Venezuelans.
01:42The key speech of the event was in charge of the member of the Politico Bureau, Roberto Morales Ojeda,
01:47who made it clear that in this context of constant aggression against the people of Latin America, Venezuela is not alone.
01:53We are united by the conviction, by the decision that nothing will stop the Bolívarian revolution.
02:07That certainty was already expressed by the revolutionary leader,
02:12Cuban revolutionary leader, general of army Raúl Castro Cruz, and also President Nicolás Maduro in 2017.
02:23Nicolás Maduro expressed for sure there will come days of strong battle of international harassment,
02:30of blockades, of limitations, but also it will be days of creation of work for the revolutionaries
02:37and the whole people of Venezuela, as it has been showing until today.
02:43It is not alone and will have Cubans in the first line of the struggle, more committed with our cause than ever.
02:51That's the end of the quote.
02:53For his part, the Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Pedro Infante,
02:57highlighted the strong bonds that unite the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela.
03:02Venezuela and Cuba are brotherly peoples who represent the legacy of struggle for liberation and independence,
03:15embodied by Bolívar and San Martín, whose flags are an essential part of the Cuban revolution and the Bolivarian revolution.
03:23We are nations of peace whose peoples and governments are victims of supremacism and terrorism by U.S. imperialism and its war-seeking lobbyists.
03:36Also in Cuba, the third international meeting of left-wing parties and movements on theoretical publications concluded.
03:42The meeting, dedicated to Commander-in-Chief Vilo Castro Ruz in commemoration of his centenary in 2026,
03:48was attended by more than 120 theorists, communicators, journalists and other experts.
03:53Political communication was at the center of the debate.
03:55The conference reiterated the need to create platforms as a political tool,
03:59with the aim of ideological unity and to give visibility to revolutionary struggles.
04:04During her speech, TeleSUR multi-platform President Patricia Villegas condemned the United States' attempts to undermine peace in Venezuela through misinformation.
04:17The Bolivarian people have stood up to the White House, which falsely insists that the South American nation is an unusual and extraordinary threat to the security of the United States,
04:34and that the legitimate leader, Nicolas Maduro, heads a narco state.
04:39From the centers of imperialist power, they try to impose lies and misinformation on us.
04:44The machinery of the information corporation seeks to make manipulations believable, becoming accomplices to falsehoods.
04:53They do not verify sources and censor our truths.
04:56We condemn attempts to undermine peace and impose the diplomacy of imperialist gunboats.
05:02We reaffirm that the unity of political forces and left-wing movements is an effective shield against attempts at destabilization.
05:09Only together can we confront the attempts of hegemonic imperialism that does not accept our sovereignty, self-determination, and decision to remain free.
05:19Antaresur President Patricia Villegas condemned the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.
05:29We reiterate our condemnation of the Zionist genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, where around 70,000 people have lost their lives, victims of Israeli neglect and gunfire.
05:46We strongly condemn the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years, which has intensified unprecedentedly since 2019, with the aim of economically suffocating the Cuban people.
06:01We demand the immediate removal of Cuba from the spurious list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.
06:08We call on all governments of the world to vote in favor of the resolution entitled The Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, to be presented on October 28, and 29, at the United Nations General Assembly.
06:27We firmly reject the fourth-generation warfare waged against the revolutionary processes of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, countries that have been arbitrarily excluded from the upcoming Summit of the Americas to be held in the Dominican Republic.
06:45We have our first break coming up. Remember, you can join us on TikTok at Tesoro English, where you'll find news in different formats, news updates, and much more. We'll be right back. Stay with us.
06:57Welcome back.
07:06Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Brown, declared before Parliament that Antigua and Barbuda would not use its military assets for any country as they support the region being considered a son of peace.
07:17We all know that the U.S. has decided that they will have discussions, they will have a military team, travel to the Caribbean to hold discussions with Grenada and Antigua and Barbuda.
07:29We know for sure, we know for sure, based on information coming out of Grenada, that the discussions were about hosting certain military assets.
07:38Now, I wasn't party to those discussions, but that's information coming out of Grenada, so I can't speak to the veracity of that information.
07:47What I can say is that I made a public statement on behalf of the government people of Antigua and Barbuda to defect.
07:56And this was made prior to them coming here, that Antigua and Barbuda will not host any military assets or assets for any foreign country.
08:09Now, the point is, having made that definitive statement, asking the question became redundant.
08:19So there is nothing irresponsible about what I would have said.
08:23So I don't know what the mischief you are trying to sell today, other than I made an unequivocal statement as to our position as a small, vulnerable country.
08:33And despite our vulnerability, we stand on certain principles.
08:37And on that particular principle about aggression and being involved in any conflict with any other country or facilitating any other conflict,
08:46especially in this hemisphere that we promote and support as a zone of peace, we said an unequivocal no.
08:56The Prime Minister will also say that they understand the need to combat the entry of narcotics to the US,
09:01but that they have always maintained friend relations with all countries.
09:05We understand the need to continue to have very good relations with them.
09:08Our team came with about 16 military officials.
09:11We met them. We held very good discussions.
09:15When it comes to military cooperation, we have been collaborating and cooperating for the United States for decades.
09:21In fact, if anything, the cooperation has strengthened all of my administration
09:25because we understand the need to deal with narcotics and other ills that are happening within the region that's contributing to crime and violence.
09:35So we are not opposed to the United States position in terms of dealing with the issue of the narcotics trade and to stop fentanyl and so on, you know, to be imported into the United States.
09:47But again, we have always maintained that we are friends of all, the enemies of none, that we are too small to have enemies.
09:54And we made it abundantly clear what our position is.
09:58Threats and attacks continue in Venezuela as does the United States call for countries in the region to take action against Venezuela.
10:07Journalist Garfield Burford has the details.
10:10We are certainly looking at land now because we've got the sea very well under control.
10:15We've had a couple of days where there isn't a boat to be found.
10:19Then that I view that as a good thing, not a bad thing.
10:21President Trump's comments on Wednesday about possible strikes inside Venezuela have signaled a ratcheting up of the tensions between Caracas and Washington.
10:30On the same day, President Trump also confirmed he had authorized the Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA, to conduct covert operations in Venezuela, stepping up a campaign against President Nicolás Maduro-Marras.
10:43Does the CIA have authority to take out Maduro?
10:46Oh, I don't want to answer a question like that.
10:48That's a ridiculous question for me to be given.
10:50Not really a ridiculous question, but wouldn't it be a ridiculous question for me to answer?
10:55But I think Venezuela is feeling heat.
10:58President Trump has doubled down on claims that the military pressure is aimed at stopping cartels from smuggling drugs into the U.S. from Venezuela.
11:06Venezuela vehemently denies those U.S. claims.
11:09In a sharp retort, Caracas says it, quote,
11:12Rejects the warmongering and extravagant statements by the President of the U.S.,
11:16in which he publicly admits having authorized operations to act against the peace and stability of Venezuela, end quote.
11:24The Maduro administration continues, quote,
11:27This unprecedented assertion constitutes a grave violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, end quote.
11:34Venezuela argues the U.S.'s maneuvers seek to legitimize a regime change operation with the ultimate goal of appropriating its oil resources.
11:43The developments have roiled a region regarded as a zone of peace.
11:47It was the basis of a question to the Prime Minister as Parliament met in St. John's on Thursday.
11:51The Honorable Prime Minister tell this Honorable host whether the United States of America actually requested to use Antiguan soil for the placement of military assets
12:01and whether he actually refused to cooperate with the U.S.
12:05and says no.
12:07Grenada has indicated that it has received such a request from the U.S. for the temporary use of the Maurice Bishop International Airport
12:15to host radar equipment and military personnel.
12:18There is a call for CARICOM to comment on this issue, but some of the people in the region have positions which they believe are in their diplomatic and geo-economic interests.
12:31But now the region nervously watches the unfolding situation as Venezuela could be a flashpoint in an increasingly fraught geopolitical...
12:40Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro urged the Venezuelan people to fight for peace and the country sovereignty in the face of threats from the North American Empire.
12:48During the inauguration of the City of Entrepreneurship, located in the Oscar López River urban development,
12:55the Venezuelan leader assured that in the face of threats from the Donald Trump administration,
12:59the Venezuelan people are stronger morally, politically, psychologically and militarily, ready to defend the peace, sovereignty and wealth of the country.
13:07He also reiterated that in the face of aggression from the U.S.
13:14to strengthen the national economy through entrepreneurship.
13:26Let's win peace by exercising our sovereignty and defending our right to life, joy,
13:33and the greatest social happiness to which we are entitled.
13:38Who can take away our right to social happiness?
13:42Do they want to erase the name of Venezuela from the map?
13:46Is it possible to erase the name of Venezuela from history and the map?
13:52Is it possible to erase all Venezuelans?
13:55The history of Bolivar, Sucur, it is impossible.
13:59And Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed his cry to the Cuban people, his counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel,
14:09and Army General Raul Castro Cruz, for their outstanding mobilization in support of the Venezuelan people.
14:14But also, on behalf of the entire people of Venezuela, I would like to thank the people of Cuba, the people of Havana,
14:26President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Army General and leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro Cruz,
14:33for the immense mobilization of solidarity, support, and love from the Cuban people, from the people of Havana, to the people of Venezuela.
14:43Cuba and Venezuela are together so that they leave, when they leave, and how they leave.
14:53The sons of Bolivar, the sons of Marty, the sons of Sucur, the sons of Antonio Maceo, we are united, together.
15:03Today more than ever, the difficulties and hardships unite us from the heart.
15:08Cuba and Venezuela, one people, one flag.
15:15I want to thank you. You have delivered for 1,387,000 signatures from Cubans who signed at universities, at their workplaces, in their communities,
15:26rejecting the threats of the North American empire against peace in South America, and against the stability of Venezuela.

15:51Welcome back.
16:04In Argentina, family members, organizations, and people with disabilities rallied in the Belgrano neighborhood
16:09to express their rejection of MLA's neoliberal measures.
16:13During this Friday, dozens of people entered the headquarters of the National Disability Agency
16:17to deliver a petition to the authorities as part of their various claims against the policies of the MLA administration.
16:23However, the personnel in charge refused to receive the report because the protest was entered the place
16:28with the objective of putting pressure and giving visibility to the demands of the sector.
16:33This protest is developing in the middle of political tensions over the suspension of the emergency law
16:38on disability and its application.
16:47Also in Argentina, citizens gathered in front of former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner's home
16:51to reiterate their support as part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Peronist movement.
16:56Militants, unions, and social movements commemorate 80 years since October 17, 1945,
17:02when thousands of workers filled the Plaza de Mayo to demand the release of Juan Domingo Perón.
17:08During the rally, supporters demanded the release of former President Cristina Fernández,
17:12convicted by the Argentine justice system, considering it political persecution.
17:17The former president greeted the demonstration from the balcony of our residents
17:21and criticized the economic policies implemented by Javier Blake,
17:25calling on the militancy to build a new starting point to leave the country
17:29ahead of the elections on Sunday, October 26.
17:32The city of Tarija
17:49Heavy rain and hail hit the town of Tarija in southern Bolivia, destroying crops and flooding streets this Thursday afternoon.
17:55Authorities reported that the weather event destroyed several crops and damaged the infrastructure of educational and health centers and housing.
18:03The Secretary of Economy and Finance of the Departmental Federation of Farmers of Tarija, David Yucra, emphasized that the assessment of the damage will continue this Friday.
18:14For his part, the mayor of Tarija, Johnny Torres, together with 200 workers, formed emergency brigades for the most affected areas
18:22and emphasized that although the storm lasted more than 40 minutes, it caused the collapse of the streets.
18:44The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, called on mediators to fulfill their role in ensuring that Israel respects the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
19:00In a statement, Hamas emphasized that mediators must ensure compliance with the remaining provisions of the agreement, particularly regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid.
19:08The organization also thanked Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their efforts to reach an agreement to stop the genocide and aggression against Palestinians.
19:16Hamas also thanked those who traveled in the flotilla to break the blockade, the peoples of the world who demonstrated solidarity,
19:22and the media exposing Israel's crimes and highlighting the injustice experienced in the Gaza Strip.
19:28The Israeli forces attacked southern Lebanon on Friday, causing damage to civilian facilities in the city of Ansar,
19:38though it is reported at least one dead and six wounded in recent Israeli attacks against a few people.
19:43Residents called the attacks systematic criminality, as they targeted vital infrastructure and facilities.
19:49For his part, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attacks by the Sinai's regime,
19:55knowing that the aggression hinders economic recovery and targets national stability under false pretexts of security.
20:06And the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela condemned through a communiqué the recent attacks perpetrated by the Sinai's regime against the Lebanese Republic.
20:13The statement begins. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects and condemns in the strongest and most unequivocal terms
20:20the recent bombings carried out by the Sinai's entity in recent days against the Lebanese Republic and its people.
20:26He continues by saying that these attacks constitute an illegal and unjustified aggression which violates all norms of coexistence,
20:33violating the charter of the United Nations, international law, and the basic principles of state sovereignty.
20:38This is already common practice on the part of the Zionist entity, which acts irrationally amid a growing loss of credibility.
20:45The communiqué concludes this aggression is part of the Israeli government's war strategy,
20:49which desperately seeks any excuse to undermine the efforts of the international community
20:54to bring peace and stability to the region of Western Asia
20:57and to weaken the efforts of President Joseph Aoun's government
21:01to strengthen the sovereignty and stability of the Lebanese Republic and the noble Lebanese people.
