00:00Hello and welcome to this New South Wales Janesweather update for Friday.
00:04Fairly clear skies at the moment, but we have got troughs that are moving through.
00:08So this brings a cool change. It also brings showers and thunderstorms out ahead of it.
00:13So we're going to see a lot of activity, particularly in the northeastern quarter during the afternoon and early evening.
00:19So this is for today. So we've got this is the boundary pretty much cutting right in through here and then just down into the coast.
00:26But most of that is the activity that moves through during the morning.
00:28So showers and thunderstorms pop up around the Sydney area and all through that northeastern part.
00:33So anyway, out ahead of that trough line has a risk of a shower or storm.
00:37This is during the day on Friday. As we move into Saturday, it's now confined to just that part in through there.
00:43We've got just showers that are in here. High pressure out here by the end of the day.
00:48So more showers and storms out ahead of that trough.
00:50Heading into Sunday, just some coastal showery activity. Nothing exciting.
00:54The next heat is starting to build over in the west. So let's watch that come through.
00:58It'll be a heat, then rain signal.
01:01So here we have Tuesday spreading right on through and then here is the rain starting to kick off.
01:06Let's watch that. Wednesday is likely to be the biggest day for us here starting Tuesday and then into Wednesday.
01:12So here currently 5 to 10 millimetres, 10 to 15, 2 to 5.
01:17So this is a system that is going to come through.
01:19It is fed by moisture from off the northwest and also off the western coast of the country.
01:24That plus energy working together to come through here and deliver widespread significant rain.
01:30Now, because this is out until next Wednesday, it's currently Friday.
01:34The modelling may change as we get closer to that point.
01:36You can always check this on Farm Online Weather, get up to date with the latest maps and see where that moisture is moving through and see if it's coming to your house.
01:45So keep on top of that and check it each day as it comes through because this could be a significant rain system for you.
01:52There we go on Wednesday.
01:53Into Thursday, cool changes move through as we move into Friday.
01:56And then Saturday, we could get some more shower and storm activity coming up in through there as the next potential rain system kicks off from the west that could come through.
02:05All right, let's have a look at what that might add up to.
02:08Now, if you're in the southern parts here, as the modelling stands on Friday morning, 5 to 10 millimetres, 1 to 5, 10 to 15, there's a potential for more if that band shifts northwards.
02:18If it shifts southwards, then there is a potential for less.
02:22In terms of the showers and storms, this signal isn't huge.
02:25On these maps, if you're underneath a particular storm, then yes, you're going to get a heavier fall because you've got moisture that's around it.
02:31But widespread, the activity is not.
02:33It's hit and miss a shower and storm activity.
02:36All right, let's have a look at what all of that means for Sydney.
02:38Showers likely.
02:40Thunderstorms are a high risk as we move through the afternoon and early evening of today.
02:44We've got the heat before that comes in and then a southerly change.
02:48It's just a little bit of light rain during the morning.
02:50That's going to clear to a partly cloudy day on Saturday.
02:53Temperatures are certainly down.
02:54So we could get a big fall with the storm during the afternoon and early evening and then not much as we're going to tomorrow, then it's dry during the day.
03:01Have a look at Sunday, cloud at first, sky is clearing.
03:04It should be mostly sunny as we move into the afternoon.
03:06Temperatures warming up.
03:0824, 31.
03:09We've got a little bit of a dip next Tuesday.
03:11Let's look at next Wednesday.
03:13Up to 30, we've got that heat that is coming through, but then we've also got that rain that is coming in.
03:17There is the chance of a little bit of that reaching Sydney, but really, this is an inland system.
03:22It's the cloud building and then a light spit of rain is what is likely there.
03:26But we are going to feel the cold change with that one.
03:28Look at that.
03:29It's a southwesterly.
03:30It's very gusty as we move through the afternoon on Wednesday.
03:33So then by Thursday and Friday, our temperatures are back down in the low 20s.
03:36So the peaks in heat today before the storms, that's Friday.
03:40And then as we move through Monday and then Wednesday before that change comes in.
03:45As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
