00:01Former Cricket West Indies director Baldit Mahabir recently said that the current CWI administration was not doing its part to improve the standard of the game in the region.
00:09Conferences were held a few months ago where former stars such as Clive Lloyd and Brian Laura, to name a couple, were part of discussions with the CWI team to find ways to improve cricket in this part of the world.
00:19Mahabir is certainly not impressed by this initiative, saying it is meaningless.
00:22I am especially hurt by what passes for administration, the PR stunts, the way that people try to embellish what they are doing, meaningless, though it may be, by conferences and high-end venues, by utilizing our pass grids to window dress, and everything is cosmetic.
00:48He is saddened by the fact that the standard of cricket in the Caribbean has dropped.
00:51It's at a stage where fans hardly attend regional four-day matches.
00:55Even the great team of the 70s and 80s was not due to any development plan of West Indies Cricket Board.
01:03Those players, that was an act of God, where all that talent came together at one time in the Caribbean, such that any regional team of that era would beat a West Indies team of this era.
01:15Even players who had never represented the West Indies.
01:17Such problems have resulted in many saying West Indies cricket should be disbanded.
01:42Mahabir 2 has no issues with that, especially after September's 2-1 loss to non-Tests playing nation Nepal in a bilateral T20 series in Shawjaw.
01:51What was worse for me was to hear the director of cricket describe Nepal as minnows after, after Nepal had beaten us.
02:03That, I found, was insulting to Nepal.
02:06If they are minnows, I wonder, what are we?
02:11At the moment, the West Indies have lost five consecutive Test matches in the new World Test Championship cycle,
02:16including the humiliating 27 All-Out to Australia in Jamaica.
02:20Winner with Narwani Chiefs Expoort.
