00:00According to PTA member Joy McIntosh, two classes at the school have been without assigned teachers
00:06for an extended period. She says this has disrupted the learning process for students while also
00:12forcing the school's principal to step in and take on teaching responsibilities in addition
00:18to administrative duties.
00:20The standard two class have been without a teacher for the last two terms and the standard
00:25tree where my son is at has been without for the whole year.
00:30McIntosh says correspondence has been sent to the Ministry of Education, the Teaching
00:35Service Commission and the relevant education authorities responsible for the school. However,
00:41she says, there has been no meaningful response to date.
00:45I have returned to the Catholic Board since the 5th of February, myself and other parents
00:52asking for some kind of relief. Up to date, nothing.
00:58She warns that the situation is becoming increasingly urgent, particularly as standard three students
01:05prepare to transition into standard four and begin preparations for their SEA examinations
01:10in the upcoming academic year. McIntosh is now urging the relevant authorities to assign the
01:17necessary teachers to restore stability.
01:20Hopefully they hear this interview and on behalf of the parents and the teachers we are begging,
01:25the Catholic Board or the relevant authorities, please, please, please send teachers, qualified teachers.
01:36We don't need just to play somebody because they're asking for it.
01:41TV6 contacted the Catholic Education Board of Management via telephone and was assured someone would look
01:48into the matter.
