00:25Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged overwork or stress.
00:35It doesn't just affect your mood, but it can have serious effects on your health.
00:40Firstly, burnout can affect your mental health.
00:44It can put you at increased risk of anxiety, depression, and irritability.
00:49Secondly, it can affect your brain health and your cognitive function.
00:54It can result in difficulty concentrating, memory lapses, and brain fog.
01:01It can also affect your heart health.
01:04Chronic stress results in an increase in blood pressure and heart rate,
01:09increasing your cardiovascular disease risk.
01:14Ironically, burnout can result in sleep disturbances.
01:18Exhaustion can often lead to insomnia or poor quality sleep, resulting in a vicious cycle.
01:26Lastly, burnout can affect your immune system.
01:30Burnout leads to a weakened immunity, leaving you more susceptible to infection.
01:36Here are some signs that you may be experiencing burnout.
01:40The good news is there's practical steps you can take to prevent or recover from burnout.
02:04Set boundaries in your work and personal life.

02:25And of course, we need support.
02:28Seek support from friends or family.
02:31And if your symptoms persist, seek advice from a healthcare professional like your doctor.
02:38Burnout may feel invisible, but its impact is very real.
