Are you feeling exhausted, unmotivated, and emotionally drained all the time?
00:07
You might be experiencing burnout.
00:10
It's more than just fatigue.
00:12
Chronic stress can push your mind and body to the limit.
00:17
Tonight on House Call, we're going to talk about what burnout is,
00:21
how you can recognize it, and what you can do to recover.
00:25
Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged overwork or stress.
00:35
It doesn't just affect your mood, but it can have serious effects on your health.
00:40
Firstly, burnout can affect your mental health.
00:44
It can put you at increased risk of anxiety, depression, and irritability.
00:49
Secondly, it can affect your brain health and your cognitive function.
00:54
It can result in difficulty concentrating, memory lapses, and brain fog.
01:01
It can also affect your heart health.
01:04
Chronic stress results in an increase in blood pressure and heart rate,
01:09
increasing your cardiovascular disease risk.
01:14
Ironically, burnout can result in sleep disturbances.
01:18
Exhaustion can often lead to insomnia or poor quality sleep, resulting in a vicious cycle.
01:26
Lastly, burnout can affect your immune system.
01:30
Burnout leads to a weakened immunity, leaving you more susceptible to infection.
01:36
Here are some signs that you may be experiencing burnout.
01:40
The good news is there's practical steps you can take to prevent or recover from burnout.
02:04
Set boundaries in your work and personal life.
02:09
Learn to say no.
02:11
Take regular breaks and prioritize rest.
02:14
Engage in daily physical activity.
02:18
Even short walks can reduce stress.
02:20
Practice mindfulness, being present, and take deep breaths.
02:25
And of course, we need support.
02:28
Seek support from friends or family.
02:31
And if your symptoms persist, seek advice from a healthcare professional like your doctor.
02:38
Burnout may feel invisible, but its impact is very real.
02:42
It can affect your mind and your body.
02:45
Recognizing the signs and symptoms early and taking proactive steps can protect your health.
02:52
Remember, your well-being comes first.
