00:00The real reason for WWE cuts are there major issues between WWE and TNA, TNA Bound for
00:07Glory highs and very very lows and more.
00:11I'm Nick Cohen and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:17Wrestlers and Tattoos.
00:18Hey, remember when we all had a giggle at Brock Lesnar when he got that one on his chest?
00:22Or when Randy Orton's tattoos were part of a copyright lawsuit in WWE video games?
00:26Or when everyone under the sun all agreed that Cody Rhodes' neck tattoo was supremely
00:32stupid?
00:33Well, here comes a new challenger.
00:35Now, I'm a man with a silly tattoo.
00:38I've actually got one of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th cutting out of my arm that
00:42I got when I was 18, which is now, scarily, 22 years ago.
00:47Not only is it a bit silly, it only cost me 40 quid and therefore isn't done all that
00:51well.
00:52What I'm saying is, I don't know if I'm in a position to judge Dominic Mysterio's new
00:55tattoo.
00:56Grayson Wallace shared a photo of himself and Dom on Instagram while in Australia, which
01:00shows off Dom's new neck tattoo of a massive Lucha Libre mask.
01:05The tattoo has divided opinion online, so I want you to let me know in these comments
01:08here what you make of it using emojis and emojis only.
01:13Have your voice heard in emoji form.
01:16Last Friday, just before Smackdown aired in the US, it was reported via Bodyslam, Fightful,
01:20and Wrestling Observer that WWE had released Jamar Hampton, Brayden BJ Ray, Summer Sorrell,
01:25Hayes Jameson, Draco Knox, Jin Tala, Lance Anawaii, Stevie Turner and Wes Lee.
01:30Zara Saka and Kylie Rae were also not picked up for new WWE ID contracts, and Zadia Steele
01:35announced that she would not be re-signing with the company.
01:38The releases all have 30-day non-compete clauses.
01:42Usually when WWE has a spring clean of mass releases, the answer to the question why is
01:47usually budget cuts.
01:49However, according to Bryan Alvarez, that is not the case with this class.
01:54He posted to his subscription Twitter, WWE cuts were not budget related.
01:58They have over 130 people in development and hire more regularly.
02:02If you're not progressing fast enough or they feel you don't have what it takes for
02:05the main roster, you're out to make room for someone new.
02:08Backing this up on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp wrote,
02:10The reason we were given was a natural progression of cycling out developmental talent.
02:15WWE is still actively recruiting talent.
02:18SRS had previously noted that while WWE did not re-sign Saka and Rey, they did re-sign
02:23other WWE ID names to new deals.
02:26And it might not be over as Bryan Alvarez added to his Twitter post, possible more cuts coming
02:31next week.
02:32A big heartfelt thank you to everyone who watched yesterday's re-upload of TLC worst wrestling
02:36catchphrases.
02:37Long story short, I tried to use YouTube's internal editor to cut around 20 seconds out
02:42of the video, but the editor's a bit clunky, and it instead cut out 48 minutes of the video.
02:48And that action cannot be undone.
02:50So we had to take the video down.
02:52And because it's a re-upload, it's been absolutely murdered in the algorithm.
02:55So if you could all watch it, it would be very much appreciated.
02:58Here's a clip if you missed it, and to whet your appetite.
03:03I feel bad putting Yeet on the list, because it is over, and it got him over to the point
03:09that he won a world title.
03:10So in that sense, great catchphrase.
03:13It just bugs me.
03:15Yeah.
03:15And I think it's because I'm old.
03:17Yeah.
03:18I mean, do I say this?
03:19It wasn't just WWE that had a pay-per-view over the weekend, as TNA presented Bound
03:49For Glory, their biggest show of the year.
03:52And while there is a lot that can be said about the partnership between TNA and WWE,
03:56the one big positive you can point to as undeniable evidence of success is the attendance
04:02for their big shows.
04:03Last June, Slammiversary had an attendance of 7,623, which is a record for the company
04:08in North America.
04:10And Chris Bay came out of Bound For Glory to announce they'd broken that record with 7,794.
04:15TNA President Carlos Silva said we wanted to break the attendance record, well, we did
04:20that with truly a record-breaking night in company history.
04:24And that might not be the end of the good news for TNA, as Fightful Select report a number
04:28of TNA talent have been told a TV deal is coming, but they don't know the specifics.
04:33Fat For Glory itself was a pretty good show overall, there wasn't much to say about the
04:37first half of it, but it did pick up towards the end.
04:39There was, of course, some massive and huge LOL TNA booking calls which we'll come onto
04:44in a moment, but I'd say overall, a thumbs up show.
04:48The Beautiful People and Mickie James were inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame, and the
04:51Inspiration retained their Knockouts tag titles against the Elegance brand in a five-minute
04:55match to round off the pre-show.
04:56The Inspiration's TNA contracts were coming up soon, but Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that
05:00they are expected to stay.
05:02The main show saw Steve Macklin regain his international championship in a fine match that
05:05went about 8 minutes, and Tessa Blanchard beat Gia Miller in another fine match that went
05:09about 6 minutes.
05:10Kaz did tributes to both AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels as a nice receipt for the Crown Jewel
05:15AJ Styles match, not sure why though, it was a tribute to Hangman Adam Page, wasn't it?
05:22Both Frankie Kazarian and Nick Nemeth won the Call Your Shot gauntlet to earn the ability to
05:25cash in on a title shot whenever they want, more on that in a bit, and NXT's Kehlani Jordan
05:30retained the Knockouts Championship against Indy Hartwell in a match that I thought was below
05:34average.
05:35This was wild throughout, highlighted by Agent Zero chokebombing Alicia Edwards into Thumbtacks
05:47and Mustafa Ali missing a 4.50 to Alicia into the Thumbtacks, and she had Thumbtacks on top
05:52of her and he missed and he landed in all the Thumbtacks.
05:55Eddie Edwards got the win with a Boston Knee party wrapped in barbed wire to Ali.
05:58Siobhan Evans and Leon Slater went to a no contest, more on that in a bit, believe me, and the
06:03Hardys retained their TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships over the Dudley Boys.
06:08As we noted earlier, I'm a guy approaching 40, so these four guys right here are some
06:13of my guys.
06:14I can remember so vividly seeing their tables match at Royal Rumble 2000 and being blown
06:17away by it.
06:18That's not to mention the ladder match at WrestleMania 2000 with Edge and Christian, literally the
06:22only good thing on that show, and of course the first two TLCs and their many other wars.
06:28That is to say, I was quite nervous going into this match.
06:32The Hardys have lost a step as they've gotten older, which is to be expected, and their match
06:36on NXT with Darkstage didn't alleviate any of my concerns.
06:39On top of that, there is a reason D-Von is now a producer and not wrestling regularly.
06:43Bully Ray is about the most working wrestler of the bunch.
06:46AJ Styles vs John Cena was like a great tribute band, doing an amazing tribute show at a pub,
06:50playing all of your favourite songs.
06:52I was worried that the Hardys and the Dudleys would be like seeing your favourite band from
06:55when you were a teenager get back together and do a terrible gig where they play the hits
06:59but do them badly.
07:01Or worse, try and play something new.
07:04So I was very pleased and delighted when this was so much better than I expected, Jeff smacking
07:10his head on the ladder doing the swanton notwithstanding.
07:12Bubba and D-Von wrestled in their 2000s WWF gear, Spike Dudley came out to give them their
07:17glasses and the finish was beautiful as Bubba admitted defeat and allowed the Hardys to put
07:22him through one final table.
07:25Bubba and D-Von then took off their boots and gave them to Matt and Jeff, signalling the
07:29end of this classic rivalry and the in-ring careers of the Dudley boys.
07:32For my money, one of the greatest tag teams of all time.
07:36And the main event saw Mike Santana defeat Trick Williams to win the TNA Championship.
07:40Both Nemeth and Kazarian tried to cash in their shots, but was stopped by Elijah.
07:43And it's a good job that Santana won, I suppose.
07:46TNA fans were very upset about the WWE partnership following Slammiversary where JC Jane won the
07:50Knockouts Championship and Trick Williams retained the TNA Championship despite Santana being
07:55the right guy to crown at that time.
07:57On the WrestleTalk podcast I said that this was all fine because it was likely leading to
08:01Bound for Glory where TNA would win their titles back, which sort of half happened.
08:06Jane actually lost her title a couple of months ago in a three-way where she wasn't pinned,
08:10and NXT's Kalani Jordan won the title after Ash by Elegance vacated it, and then she retained
08:15it at Bound for Glory over a TNA name.
08:17Mike Santana though did win the TNA Championship.
08:20He is not as hot as he was at Slammiversary, but it was still the right call.
08:24Especially as Sean Ross Sapp wrote on Fightful Select, one talent said that while they expect
08:27Mike Santana to win tonight, if for some reason he doesn't, they have major issues with the
08:32NXT partnership.
08:34So it's not just TNA fans that have taken issues with some of the WWE partnership booking
08:38as, at least according to Fightful Select, some talent have issues as well.
08:42And TNA fans also had issues with Bound for Glory.
08:45AJ Styles and John Cena had an entire match of tribute, so it was only fitting that TNA did
08:49a loving tribute to TNA themselves by booking some terrible finishes, lol TNA.
08:55The first came in the Call Your Shot gauntlet, where Kazarian ended himself by taking out
08:59Jody Thread, but he was seemingly eliminated when Santino hit him with the Cobra.
09:02When it came down to Matt Cardona and Nick Nemeth, Cardona was eliminated but Kaz just got
09:06right back in.
09:07And because this is one of those Rumble gimmicks where the match ends via pinfall, they did
09:11a double-pin finish.
09:12Santino ruled the match a draw, and the crowd chanted Bullspit.
09:16Now that's one thing, but Javon Evans and Leon Slater were having the banging match
09:21everyone expected them to have that was somehow exceeding those expectations.
09:25It was in fact on course for not only being easily the match of the weekend, but a bonafide
09:31match of the year contender.
09:34And then they did a time limit draw.
09:35Not the worst finish in the world, just TNA have not done it enough to establish time
09:40limit draw finishes, so that was booed by the crowd.
09:43I would argue though that is the right kind of heat, as the crowd were rabid for the match
09:47being restarted.
09:48But then they wrestled for a minute, and Darkstate ran in to cause a no contest.
09:52They did a non-finish, then restarted the match to do a non-finish.
09:56LOL TNA.
09:57The heat was nuclear, but it was quite evident that it was not directed at the heels in the
10:02ring, but at TNA themselves.
10:04It was akin to the Fire Russo chants that used a ring throughout the Impact Zone when they
10:08saw a finish they hated.
10:09The argument that has been given is that this will now lead to a tag team match with Evans
10:13and Slater against Darkstate.
10:14But you can still do that while also having a finish to the Dream match on your biggest
10:19show of the year.
10:20It had a real air of neither side wanting their guy to lose.
10:23What did you think of TNA Bound for Glory?
10:25Let me know in the comments down below.
10:26And make sure you check out the latest episode of TLC, where myself, Oli and Sullivan Bo Brown
10:31count down the worst wrestling catchphrases.
10:34The video is on screen right now.
