00:00Bus drivers across the capital have reported cockroach infestations on some buses and in staff rest areas as well, calling for urgent action to deal with the problem.
00:15Drivers have shared videos and images showing insects in vehicles and in areas where staff take their breaks as well.
00:25Campaigners say that the issue appears to go beyond occasional sightings and is adding to already tough working conditions.
00:35They've reported accounts from drivers who have found cockroaches in seating areas, floor panels and even near food and drink spaces too.
00:46Transport for London has responded and said such incidents are rare but confirmed it is investigating and working with bus operators to ensure vehicles and facilities are kept clean, safe and comfortable for staff and passengers.
01:05When it doesn't, because if you notice, it's like they don't clean the stations that they used to, you know, so every time you take public transport, you can see, you know, that there is lack of hygiene and they haven't been maintained lately.
01:20So yeah, even my daughter sometimes when she like mice dancing on the platforms is like, why we have this problem?
01:29Well, I've never seen it. I've never heard of that before. So I don't know. I mean, I'm not saying that no one's seen a cockroach or an infestation, but I've never seen it and I've never caught anything off a London bus.
01:43I actually think we're really lucky in London. Really lucky.
01:46Oh, days. Yeah. Yeah. I heard that. Yeah. I heard that in the news this morning. Yeah. Yeah.
01:50What does that, does that surprise you? What do you think of London transport?
01:53Not at all because I'm driving, I got a motorbike. So obviously what it is, it's like, I take transports times two times, but I just heard this this morning about talking about the cockroaches or whatever, the heat, I think.
02:08So obviously, I don't know. I don't know what the bus drivers doing to keeping, you know, up to date, but they said as well that they're cleaning, isn't it?
02:18Every morning or even when they start the shifts, they, they clean it. So I don't know.
02:23I would like to see, obviously, we pay a very high price for our transport system. And as customers, we, and as citizens, we just expect to live in a clean city, you know, that we see that what we're putting on is reflected on the service because at the end is the part of the service.
02:41It's very good. Yeah. I think it's really good. I, I, if you go outside London, then you have a bit of a shock, you know, we're very lucky in London, you know, you don't have to wait for buses long.
02:51I don't like the tube. I'll go on the tube. I don't like it, but you know, who, who wants to go underground, but, um, I think the bus is really good.
02:58I have nothing to moan about.
