00:00hello yes london has been well and truly grappling with major disruption as tube workers stage strike
00:09action across much of the network for passengers that has meant long waits packed alternatives
00:16and a scramble to rethink daily commuters if they have to go into the office at the heart
00:22of the dispute is a long-running argument between the rmt union and transport for london
00:30staff are pressing for a shorter working week and fairer pay while transport for london says it has
00:37already put out a reasonable offer on the table and warns that further concessions could threaten
00:44services now the result of this is most underground lines have been severely reduced or closed
00:51altogether during strike days you may have seen video circling on social media of this for travelers
00:57the impact is immediate overground trains and the elizabeth line have been running but are far
01:02busier than usual roads and buses quickly are becoming gridlocked as well and apps like city mapper
01:10have replaced tfl's own website which often struggles under demand
01:16so the question is when the city grinds to a halt how do londoners really feel are they frustrated
01:26do they feel resourceful or just resigned to the strikes either to the streets to find out
01:32um it actually hasn't affected me that much i've been able to like walk to work and stuff like that but
01:38honestly give them their money i think as long as it doesn't affect london being a 24-hour city which
01:46it is not but it's claiming to be i think we still need regular service all around the city but
01:52just give them more money basically yeah so massive massively disruptive if you look at what i do for
02:01work getting to and from work has been extremely difficult um and that has an impact on the people
02:06that i see equally in our household my wife works so it's she's struggled she's able to cycle to work
02:12but apparently the cycling's been very difficult people online bikes huge huge volumes of people
02:17compared to normal um and then my kids getting to school that's probably been the biggest disaster i've
02:22got two kids at secondary school they normally go on their own um they haven't been able to so we've
02:27they've had to i mean the poor guy my 13 year old had to leave home at 5 30 this morning in order to
02:32get to football training which is outrageous i think i honestly to be in the underground every day
02:41in that bleak i don't think it's good for your lungs i just feel like it's not a glamorous like job so i
02:47feel like i wouldn't want to do it so give them the money like give them the like decreased hours i
02:54yeah i don't see an issue with it
03:03you
