02:01Do bear in mind, at the end of each round we will eliminate the pair with the highest score,
02:06so if you don't wish to be that pair, keep the scores low.
02:09Best of luck to all four pairs.
02:10Our first category today is...
02:11Can you all decide in your pairs who's going to go first, who's going to go second, and whoever's going first, please step up to the podium.
02:21OK, and our question concerns...
02:31Yeah, we're going to show you the initial and surname of various men and women who have competed in the 100m sprint at the Olympic Games.
02:42We'll also give you the year they first competed in the 100m at the Olympics, so please give us what that initial stands for.
02:51Thank you very much indeed.
02:52Can you supply these missing first names?
02:55And here is our first board of seven clues.

03:26There we are.
03:28Glesney, welcome back.
03:30Thank you.
03:30Show two for Glesney and Daniel.
03:33Tell us more about yourself, Glesney.
03:35So, I'm a PhD student, but I have a little dog-walking business in my spare time.
03:39Now, that's fine.
03:40How many clients do you have?
03:42Probably about ten in Belfast.
03:44I do house-sitting as well, so I get to stay in some nice houses.
03:47How fantastic.
03:48How many walks a day do you do?
03:50Depends on the request, but usually one or two.
03:53One or two.
03:53If they're old, maybe just ten minutes.
03:54See, that's very nice.
03:55Very nice indeed.
03:57Now, Glesney, who are you going to go for on our board?
03:59Oh, it's really hard because I watched a documentary on Lyles, but I can't remember his first name.
04:04This is so bad, but I might just have to say Usain Bolt, because I know that's right and I don't want to guess one of the others.
04:11OK, you're going to go Usain Bolt, and strategically, you'll be removing Usain Bolt, which might be the only name other people know.
04:18You never know.
04:18Let's see how many of our 100 people said Usain for Bolt.
04:23Usain is absolutely right.
04:25It's a high score, but tactically could be very smart.
04:28AZ-80 is what it scores.
04:29Yeah, I think you're right to have gone safe, because, as Xander said, others may not know names.
04:36Usain Bolt, his first Olympics was actually in 2004, where he'd just competed in the 200 metres.
04:42He was eliminated in the first round, hampered by a leg injury.
04:46He was actually born with scoliosis, a sideways curvature of his spine, but that didn't hinder him, did it?
04:51No, no.
04:52Thank you very much indeed.
04:53Now, Ian, welcome to Pointless.
04:55It's terrific to have you here.
04:56Introduce yourself to us.
04:57Hakin and I are both directors of the Greyhound Board of Great Britain, so our job is to regulate greyhound racing in Great Britain.
05:05Heavens above.
05:06What do you do when you're not doing that, Ian?
05:09My favourite thing is to travel abroad as often as I can get away with.
05:13Right, and how often is that?
05:15Several times a year.
05:16Well, this is good, and not always under the auspices of greyhounds.
05:20No, no, as a private tourist.
05:22As a private tourist.
05:23Well, this is terrific, Ian.
05:24Excellent.
05:25What are you going to go for on our board here?
05:28I know a few of those.
05:29I believe the fourth one down is Donovan Bailey.
05:33Donovan Bailey for the men's in 1996.
05:35How many of our 100 said Donovan?
05:39Donovan is right.
05:4088 is the only score we have at the moment, and you zoom past that, but Donovan Bailey down.
05:45We go to 13.
05:46Very well done, Ian.
05:4713.
05:47Well done, Ian.
05:50Welcome to the show.
05:51Thank you.
05:51He was rapid, Donovan Bailey.
05:53The Canadian won the 100 metres and the four times 100 relay gold medals at the Atlanta
05:57Games in 1996.
06:00One of his life lessons is you either choose commitment or regret.
06:03I think this is a very, very worthy maxim to live by.
06:07I like it.
06:08Yeah.
06:09Commitment.
06:10Commitment, not regret.
06:11Isn't that right, Millie?
06:12Absolutely.
06:13As committed a person as I have ever come across.
06:16Millie, this is your third show already?
06:18It is.
06:18I can't believe it, how time has flown.
06:20Tell us more about your full life.
06:23Running a farm.
06:24You have a radio show.
06:26You host visitors.
06:27Tell us more.
06:27So, I really enjoy growing vegetables in my garden and I produce lots of videos with recipe
06:34tutorials to help more people to get inspired with growing and cooking from scratch.
06:40See, this is a very, very good idea.
06:42What's a good sample menu from your recipes?
06:44Oh, well, I really enjoy cooking things with vegetables and then making them into, like,
06:48a soup.
06:49Yes.
06:49Because, obviously, being livestock farmers, we've got a lot of pork and we've got a lot
06:53of beef and a lot of lamb as well.
06:54So, some things like sausages and potatoes and lots of vegetables as well.
07:01Okay.
07:01So, good farmhouse fare.
07:02There we are.
07:03Now, Millie, what are you going to go for on our board here?
07:06Oh, this isn't a very good board for me at all.
07:08Andrew's really into his sport, whereas I'm not so much.
07:11And the two answers that have already gone are the ones I'm going to go for.
07:15I'm going to have a guess at the top one and say Jesse Owens.
07:19Jesse Owens says, Millie, shall we see if Jesse Owens is right?
07:25That must have been a name just swimming around at the back of your mind because it is absolute
07:29right.
07:2945 for Jesse Owens.
07:31Not bad at all.
07:32And what a legendary figure Jesse Owens was.
07:37Jesse Owens won four gold medals at the 1936 Games in Berlin, as well as 100 metres and
07:43the four times 100 metres relay.
07:45He also won the 200 metres and the long jump.
07:48Amazing athlete.
07:49Incredible.
07:50Yeah.
07:50Thank you very much indeed, Trevor.
07:52Now, Esther, welcome to Pointless.
07:55Great to have you here.
07:56Tell us all about yourself, Esther.
07:57I'm a student.
07:58I study music.
07:59I'm originally from Essex, but now I'm studying in Manchester.
08:02Are you studying at the university or at the Royal Northern?
08:05At the university.
08:05OK, and what year are you in?
08:08Third year, final.
08:09Fantastic.
08:10What do you get up to when you're not studying?
08:12So, we're in a band together, actually, which is like one of the things that we do together.
08:16So, if I'm not studying, we'll be at band practice or going to gigs.
08:19What do you play, Esther?
08:21I do lead guitar, but also multi-instrumentalist.
08:24Very good.
08:25So, you have a whole rack of different instruments that you'll just pick up from time to time.
08:29Chuck the guitar away, out with a tuber.
08:32I'm guessing.
08:33I haven't seen them yet.
08:34But, Esther, what are you going to go for?
08:36Do you feel like filling in our board here?
08:38I really wish I could, but I'm going to go for the third one down.
08:42I'm going to say Florence.
08:44Florence Griffith Joyner for the third one down.
08:47Shall we see if that is right?
08:48Shall we see how many of our 100 people said Florence?
08:52Florence, absolutely right.
08:55Well, 88 is our high score.
08:5613 is our low.
08:5725 is where you end up with Florence Griffith Joyner.
09:02Very well done indeed, Esther.
09:04Considering everyone saying that they're a bit weak, we've got four strong answers there.
09:08Well done.
09:09Now, what about the rest on this board, Trevor?
09:11Well, the one at the bottom, the current champion.
09:14That is Noah.
09:15Yes.
09:16That's 14.
09:17Anyone else you can name?
09:19I'm going to take a punt on Emma for Thompson-Hera.
09:22No, Elaine Thompson-Hera.
09:25And that would have scored you three.
09:27But the best score on the board is 1960.
09:31An old school name.
09:31I think Wizard of Oz.
09:33Oh, Dorothy.
09:34There you go.
09:35There you go.
09:35Lovely.
09:35Thank you.
09:36Dorothy Hyman would have scored you one.
09:38Thank you very much indeed.
09:39We are halfway through the round.
09:40Let's have a look at those scores.
09:4113, the best score of the past, Ian.
09:42Very well done indeed.
09:43Ewan Akin looking pretty strong on the back of it.
09:4525 is where we find Esther and Yannat.
09:47Brilliant play on the far podium.
09:4945 is where we find Millie and Andrew.
09:51And then 88, Glesney.
09:53I thought that was going to play out for you.
09:55And it turned out everyone just about knew enough to sidestep the block you'd put down there.
09:59So, yes, you're a bit ahead, Daniel.
10:01You'll get the next board.
10:02Let's hope there's something nice and low-scoring on there for you.
10:04Good luck with that.
10:05We're going to come back down the line now.
10:06Will, the second players, please step up to the podium.
10:11Let's put seven more clues to Olympic 100-metre sprinters and their first names up on the board.
10:17Here they are.
10:18F. Blankers-Cohen, women's, 1948.
10:22W. Rudolph, women's, 1960.
10:25C. Lewis, men's, 1984.
10:28L. Christie, men's, 1988.
10:32S.A. Fraser-Price, women's, 2008.
10:36D. Asher-Smith, women's, 2021.
10:40And J. Alfred, women's, 2024.
10:45There we are.
10:45Yannat, welcome to Point Us.
10:47Great to have you here.
10:48Tell us all about yourself.
10:49I'm a comp-sci student in my final year at Manchester.
10:53For my spare time, I like to play guitar, write songs, as Esther mentioned.
10:58I also am currently learning Spanish.
11:01How's that going?
11:03Muy buen.
11:04Muy buen is exactly the answer I was hoping for.
11:06Oh, benne, benne, benne.
11:09No, I don't speak any Spanish.
11:11By the time, I learned some.
11:13So, how many of you are there in the band?
11:15There's us two and two others.
11:17Very good.
11:18So, bass and drums.
11:19Yeah.
11:19That's it.
11:20And are you gigging?
11:22Yeah.
11:22What are you called?
11:23We're called Banana Undertones.
11:25The nice portmanteau there.
11:27Yes.
11:28Banana-rama meets the undertones.
11:30Yeah, absolutely.
11:31I mean, the Bretford music must be raw.
11:34That's my last.
11:35Yeah.
11:35Yeah.
11:36That's what I'm thinking.
11:37How many of you sing?
11:38I do most of the singing, but Esther helps out quite a bit.
11:41Very good.
11:41So, there's a bit of backing there, too.
11:43Fabulous.
11:43Now, Yannick, you've got a lovely new board there.
11:46You're on 25.
11:4662 or less gets you straight into round two.
11:49I know three, but I'm just trying to decide which of the three would be the lowest scoring.
11:54I think I'm going to go with Dina.
11:58Dina.
11:58Asher Smith.
11:59Asher Smith.
11:59Dina says, Yannick, you get a red line.
12:03Here it comes.
12:04Do we get you below this red line with Dina?
12:09Dina is absolutely right, Yannick.
12:10Very well done, indeed.
12:11You are in round two.
12:12Down to go to 37, taking your total up to 62.
12:17Delightable Dina Asher Smith.
12:19We love her.
12:20In 2015, she became the first British woman to break 11 seconds for the 100 metres.
12:25Well done, Yannick.
12:26Amazing.
12:27Thank you very much, indeed, Trevor.
12:28Now then, Andrew, welcome back for the third time.
12:31We need to know more about you, Andrew.
12:33So, if there's any heavy lifting while Millie's in the garden, I'll have to come in and do it, basically, yeah.
12:40So, you...
12:41Infrastructure and stuff like that.
12:42Infrastructure, yeah.
12:44I should think so.
12:45Raised beds.
12:45Those type of beds.
12:46You have raised beds.
12:47A couple of them, haven't we?
12:48Yeah, yeah.
12:48It's very good.
12:49And it sounds like there's a complete sort of film industry, a radio industry going on.
12:53There's a massive broadcast project around the farm.
12:56Are you roped into this as well, Andrew?
12:58Well, behind the scenes.
12:59Behind the camera.
13:00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
13:01Fixing the lights, making sure everyone's going to be a light meter.
13:04All right, Millie, take three.
13:05Now, then, you're on 45.
13:0842 or less gets you into the next round.
13:10I know we want to see, but I think I'll go for Sally-Anne Fraser-Price.
13:14Sally-Anne Fraser-Price.
13:16You were trailed as a great expert.
13:19Sally-Anne, says Andrew.
13:20You get a red line and it comes in here.
13:22Do we get you below that, I wonder, with Sally-Anne Fraser-Price?
13:26Oh, no!
13:30Andrew, I'm so sorry.
13:31That is incorrect.
13:33And it scores 100 points.
13:34Opens the door a little bit for Daniel and Glesney there.
13:37But, yes, takes your total up to 145.
13:39Yeah, you're going to kick yourself at the end of this.
13:42You really are.
13:43We'll give you the correct answer at the end of the round.
13:45Oh, thank you.
13:46Thank you.
13:47Now, then, Akin, welcome.
13:49Lovely to have you here.
13:50Tell us all about yourself.
13:51I'm a finance director for Menfield, North London,
13:54but I'm also an author, so I've written a couple of books.
13:58Good for you.
13:58And just finishing the third one.
14:00Very good.
14:00Are they in a series or are they standalone?
14:03Historical fiction.
14:05Historical fiction.
14:06My parents are originally from Cyprus, so they're all set in Cyprus.
14:10That's fascinating.
14:11And have you been travelling back to Cyprus to do your research?
14:13Yeah, I was there last month.
14:14Very nice indeed.
14:16Very hot.
14:16Good stuff.
14:17OK, now, Akin, you are on 13.
14:19It doesn't matter what you score.
14:20You're through to the next round.
14:22Well, I'm looking at the first two.
14:25I'm not sure, but I'll go for the top one, Fanny Blankers-Cohen.
14:28Fanny Blankers-Cohen from 1948.
14:31Shall we see if that is right?
14:33No red line because you're already through.
14:35Fanny Blankers-Cohen.
14:36It is right.
14:41Now, 13 was the lowest score on the first pass.
14:43Are you going to get the lowest score on this pass?
14:4514.
14:46Very, very well done indeed.
14:47Yes is the answer to that.
14:4827, your total.
14:50Well done, Akin.
14:51Well done, sir.
14:52Dutch athlete Fanny Blankers-Cohen won four medals at the London Olympic Games in 1948.
14:58I think they called those games the austerity games, didn't they?
15:01Because just after the war, it was sort of scaled down a little bit and not a lot of money was thrown at it.
15:07The silver medals, raw milk bottle tops.
15:09I didn't go that far.
15:11Thank you very much indeed.
15:13Now then, Daniel, welcome back.
15:14Good to have you here for show two.
15:16Tell us more about yourself, Daniel.
15:18At the minute, I'm trying to learn two languages.
15:20Are you?
15:21Yeah, so I've been learning Welsh for a year.
15:23Yes, very important.
15:24It was sort of early to be able to sort of speak to each other in public situations without anybody knowing what we're saying.
15:30And then about two weeks ago, I started learning Irish as well.
15:33How closely related are they?
15:35Obviously, they're both Celtic languages.
15:36They're both deadly.
15:37They're both really tough.
15:39So you've just got to abandon any kind of language structure you've known up to that point and just start again.
15:45Well, good for you.
15:46Daniel, you are on 88.
15:4856 or less gets you into the next round.
15:50Do you feel like talking us through the board?
15:52Not at all, no.
15:53OK.
15:53I only know one of the answers and luckily nobody's picked it yet, so I'm going to go for Linford Christie.
15:59Linford Christie says,
16:01Daniel, a very recognisable name.
16:03Will it get you below this red line?
16:06I wonder.
16:0656.
16:07Linford.
16:09It's right.
16:10Oh, I feared not.
16:14I'm over.
16:15Yes, that's 70, taking your total up to 158.
16:17Andrew and Millie back in the race.
16:19Oof.
16:20Yeah, I mean, Linford won the 100-metre gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, just over 32 years at the time.
16:29He's the oldest male winner to date and a phenomenal athlete, wouldn't you say, but unlucky.
16:34OK, let's have a look at the rest of the board.
16:36I think we should start with Andrew, don't you?
16:38Easy mistake to make, but it was actually Shelley Ann Fraser-Price, not Sally Ann Fraser-Price.
16:45It was a great score, seven.
16:47Should we go to the second answer, which was the best answer on the board, which would have scored you one, Wilma Rudolph.
16:54Wilma Rudolph.
16:55The legend that is Carl Lewis, 51, and she won St. Lucia's first ever Olympic medal.
17:02Julian Alfred scored two.
17:04There we are.
17:05Thank you very much indeed, Trevor.
17:06That brings us to the end of our first round.
17:08It means, wow, what a rollercoaster ride that was, Andrew and Millie and Daniel and Glesney.
17:13But I'm afraid you end up the high scorers, so we'll have to say goodbye for now.
17:16We'll see you next time for the third show.
17:18Thank you so much for playing Daniel and Glesney.
17:20But for the three remaining pairs, it's now time for round two.
17:25Fantastic work, everybody.
17:31Very well done indeed.
17:32Here we are in round two, and you'll have noticed we're down to three pairs.
17:36Ian, you were our lowest individual scorer in that last round,
17:39and Akin and Ian, our lowest combined scorers, so fantastic work on the near podium.
17:43But as I say, very well done, all of you.
17:45Good luck for round two.
17:46Let's find out what our category is for it.
17:49Today, we are doing British Flora for round two.
17:52Can you all decide in your pairs who's going to go first,
17:54who's going to go second?
17:55And whoever's going first, please step up to the podium.
18:02OK, let's find out what the question is.
18:03Here it comes.
18:04We gave 100 people 100 seconds to name as many words containing L, E, A or F
18:12in the names of British trees as they could.
18:16Trevor.
18:16The Woodland Trust A to Z of British trees is a list of the common names of species of tree native to the UK.
18:24It includes naturalised and non-native trees that are widely planted in the UK.
18:28We're looking for any word that contains at least one of the letters L, E, A or F that appears on that list.
18:37We're counting hyphenated words as two separate words.
18:41Thank you very much indeed.
18:42So, Ian, we come to you.
18:45What have you got?
18:46I'm a city boy, so this is no good for me.
18:49And I know my wife is shouting at the scream at home because it is her sort of thing.
18:53You know you'll be sitting next to her while she's doing that.
18:56Yes, absolutely.
18:57You'll be going...
18:58Just to put it in context.
19:01I'm going to go for larch.
19:03Larch, says Ian.
19:05Let's see how many of our 100 said larch.
19:08Ian, it's a tree.
19:09There we are, down to 17.
19:17Very well done indeed.
19:18Larch.
19:19Yes.
19:20A lot of this is going to be pretty new to me as well as a city boy.
19:23The larch in question is a conifer.
19:26Its seeds are eaten by red squirrels and birds such as the siskin.
19:29Thank you very much.
19:30Indeed.
19:31Now then, Millie, words in tree names that contain L, E, A or F.
19:37What are we thinking?
19:38I'm going to go for hornbeam.
19:41Hornbeam, says Millie.
19:43Hornbeam.
19:43Let's see how many of our 100 people said that.
19:47Hornbeam is right.
19:49Larch scoring 17.
19:50Let's see where hornbeam ends up.
19:52We've passed 17.
19:54Oh, it goes down to one.
19:55Very well done indeed, Millie.
19:56I mean, we've gone from an urban guy to a very rural lady here.
20:02I mean, I knew Millie would smash that.
20:04In the name of one tree, the hornbeam, which is a deciduous broadleaf tree.
20:08Brilliant.
20:08Thank you very much indeed.
20:10Now then, Yannat.
20:11I'm also a city person, so I'm really drawing a stomp on this one.
20:18Nice.
20:19I'm just going to go willow tree.
20:21Willow.
20:22Yeah.
20:22Willow.
20:24Let's see how many of our 100 people said willow.
20:26Not bad, 21 for Willow.
20:37I'm not quite sure why we keep saying I'm a city person.
20:39I don't know.
20:40There's thousands of trees in the city.
20:41There's a lot of trees.
20:42A lot of trees in the city.
20:43Yeah, yeah.
20:44Thank you very much indeed.
20:45We're halfway through the round.
20:45Let's have a quick look at those scores.
20:47One, Millie.
20:48The best score of the past.
20:49Very well done indeed.
20:50Then we travel up to 17, which is where we find Ian and Akin,
20:53and from there up to 21.
20:54Not very far ahead.
20:55But, Yannat, that's where you and Esther are.
20:58So, Esther, a nice low score from you, please,
21:00and we will see you in the head-to-head, let's hope.
21:02We're coming back down the line now.
21:03Will the second players please step up to the podium?
21:09So, we're looking for the name of any British tree
21:12containing the letters L, E, A or F.
21:16Esther, you're the high scorers.
21:18I'm going to go for fur tree.
21:21Fur.
21:22Fur.
21:23Shall we see how many of our 100 said fur?
21:25You don't get a red line because you're currently the high scorers,
21:27but fur may change all of that.
21:29You never know.
21:31Fur is right.
21:37Down and go to 21.
21:38Exactly the same score as Willow,
21:39taking your total up to a perfectly balanced 42.
21:42Fur is in the name of just one tree.
21:45It first introduced in the 1800s.
21:47It's been a valuable timber source
21:48and provided homes for the likes of Red Squirrels
21:51and Pine Martins.
21:53Thank you very much, Trevor.
21:55Now then, Andrew,
21:56we are looking at a target score of 40 or less from you.
22:00Having a son called Douglas,
22:01I'll say Douglas Fur.
22:03Douglas, as in Douglas Fur,
22:05says Andrew.
22:07You get a red line.
22:09It comes in here.
22:10What happens when we say Douglas?
22:13It is right.
22:17And it gets you through.
22:19And that goes down to three.
22:21Very well done indeed.
22:22Taking your total up to four.
22:24I need to smash this one.
22:26Let's be fair.
22:28In the name of one tree,
22:29the tree in question is widely grown for Christmas trees
22:32and was first introduced in the 1800s.
22:34It's native to North America.
22:36So well done.
22:37Thank you very much indeed, Trevor.
22:38Now then, Akin,
22:40you are on 17.
22:4124 or less gets you into the head-to-head.
22:43What are you going to go for?
22:45Three isn't my forte,
22:46but I'm going to go for a cypress tree.
22:49Cypress.
22:50See, that's nice.
22:51A little pun there
22:52on the land of your forefathers.
22:55Akin, there is your red line.
22:56What happens when we say cypress?
23:04Very well done.
23:05Through you go.
23:06And down it goes to one.
23:07This is a terrific answer,
23:08taking your total up to 18.
23:10Very well done.
23:11Akin.
23:12Yes, brilliant answer.
23:13And not spelt the same
23:14as a country of your forefathers,
23:17cypress.
23:18In the names of two trees,
23:20it's a type of conifer.
23:21Let's have a look at some of the pointless answers then.
23:23There were loads.
23:24You could have had...
23:25European,
23:26as in European larch.
23:28Goat,
23:29as in goat willow,
23:30was pointless.
23:31Hemlock,
23:32as in western hemlock.
23:34And then we've got Leyland,
23:35which was Leyland Cypress.
23:38London,
23:38as in London Plain.
23:40Norway,
23:41as in Norway spruce,
23:43Norway maple.
23:44There was Plymouth,
23:46Plymouth Pier.
23:47You also got spindle
23:48and white beam.
23:49Well done at home
23:50if you've got any of them.
23:51I mean,
23:51there seem to be
23:52thousands of trees.
23:53Lots, lots.
23:54Lots and lots of trees.
23:54Thank you very much indeed.
23:56Right, well,
23:56we come to the end
23:57of our second round
23:57and that means we have to say goodbye
23:58to our second pair of the afternoon,
24:00Esther and Yanneth.
24:01I'm afraid it's you for now.
24:02We'll see you next time
24:03and we'll look forward to it.
24:04Thank you very much for playing,
24:05Esther and Yanneth.
24:07But for the remaining two pairs,
24:08it's now time for the head-to-head.
24:15Congratulations,
24:16Ian and Akin,
24:17Andrew and Millie.
24:18You are now one step closer
24:19to the final
24:20and a chance to play
24:21for our jackpot,
24:21which currently stands
24:22at £1,000.
24:25I don't think
24:26it'll stand there for long
24:27because we now have a chance
24:28before the head-to-head
24:29to throw a bit more money
24:30into that jackpot
24:30by seeing if we can find
24:31a couple of pointless answers.
24:32So just for fun,
24:34we gave 100 people
24:35100 seconds
24:35to name as many
24:37famous sculptors
24:39as they could, Trevor.
24:41Yep, you'll see six options.
24:43Four are the names
24:44of famous sculptors.
24:46Two are scoring,
24:47two are pointless
24:48and two are red herrings.
24:50£250 in the jackpot
24:52for each pointless answer.
24:54Thank you very much indeed.
24:56So can you find
24:56the two pointless sculptors
24:57from this list
24:58of six potentials?
25:01Rachel Whiteread,
25:02Konstantin Brancush,
25:05Andy Train,
25:06Shirazzo Houshiari,
25:09Chris Elefantine
25:10and Alberto Giacometti.
25:13There we are.
25:13Does anyone know anything?
25:14Yeah, I think I've heard
25:15of Rachel Whiteread,
25:16so whether she's pointless
25:18or not...
25:19OK, there we are.
25:20Ian and Akin,
25:21we come to you.
25:22Who would you like
25:23to nominate
25:23as a pointless sculptor?
25:25Shall we go?
25:26I haven't got a clue.
25:27Never heard of any of them.
25:29Let's go for Rachel Whiteread.
25:31OK, shall we say
25:32if Rachel Whiteread
25:32is a pointless sculptor?
25:36Rachel Whiteread
25:37is definitely a sculptor.
25:42And it's a pointless answer.
25:44Very well done indeed.
25:46Thank you so much.
25:47Now then,
25:48Andrew and Millie,
25:49who would you like to nominate?
25:50Can you find the other one?
25:51Oh, we don't know any of them,
25:53so we're just going to have a punt,
25:54aren't we?
25:54Yeah.
25:55I think we'll go for Shirazzo Houshiari.
25:57Who's the other one?
25:58OK, we'll go for
25:59Shirazzo Houshiari.
26:01Is Shirazzo a pointless answer?
26:07Definitely a sculptor.
26:08Shirazzo Houshiari.
26:09And a pointless one as well.
26:14Very well done indeed.
26:16Look at that.
26:17Would you Adam and Eve it?
26:19I mean, that was brilliant.
26:21Well done, everybody.
26:22I'd like to think
26:23that they've put these
26:25tongue-twisty sort of names
26:26in just to baffle us.
26:28I think it's important to baffle us.
26:29I think it's very important.
26:30So, Konstantin Brancouche
26:32was one of the most important
26:33sculptures of the 20th century.
26:35He would have scored you four.
26:36Andy Train,
26:37my favourite to read out,
26:38obviously,
26:38isn't a sculptor,
26:39but a world champion
26:40living statue.
26:41So he's one of those people
26:42who just stands there
26:44irritatingly,
26:45and you stand there for ages
26:46and he doesn't move.
26:48Chris Elefantine.
26:49That's not a sculptor.
26:51Chris Elefantine
26:52is the term used
26:53for the combination
26:54of gold and ivory
26:56in sculpture.
26:58And the final one,
26:59Alberto Giacometti
27:00was a famous Swiss sculptor.
27:02He scored one.
27:04There we are.
27:04Thank you very much indeed
27:05and well done.
27:06You managed to find
27:07not one,
27:07but both pointless answers,
27:09which means we can add £500
27:10to the jackpot.
27:11And it now therefore
27:12stands at £1,500.
27:15But who will be paying for it?
27:16Well,
27:16let's find out
27:17in the head-to-head.
27:17Now, the first pair
27:24to win two questions
27:25will be paying for that jackpot.
27:26You are now allowed
27:26to confer before
27:27you give your answers.
27:28Best of luck to both pairs.
27:29Here is our first question
27:30and it is all about...
27:33..boats, Trevor.
27:34Yeah, we're going to show you
27:35five pictures
27:36of types of boats
27:38along with the first letter
27:40of its name
27:40and blank spaces
27:42for the remaining letters.
27:43Please give us
27:44these types of boats.
27:45Thank you very much indeed.
27:47Let's reveal
27:48our five boat types
27:49and here they come.
27:50A, P.
27:55B, C.
28:01C, D.
28:07D, F.
28:10And E, P.
28:19There we are.
28:20Now then, Ian and Akin,
28:21you get to go first.
28:23We think we know four,
28:25but we're going to go for B,
28:27which we believe is coracle.
28:29Coracle.
28:30Say Ian and Akin for B.
28:32Now then, Andrew and Millie,
28:33can you talk us
28:34through the rest of that board?
28:35We were going to go for B as well.
28:38We're not sure about C or E.
28:40We know that D is ferry
28:41and we're going to go for A,
28:43which is pedalo.
28:44A, pedalo.
28:45So we have coracle versus pedalo.
28:47Ian and Akin went for coracle,
28:50for B.
28:50Should we see how many
28:51of our 100 said that?
28:54Coracle is right.
28:58And down that goes to 27.
29:00Very well done.
29:02Meanwhile, Andrew and Millie
29:04have gone for pedalo for A.
29:07Should we see how many
29:07of our 100 said pedalo?
29:11Pedalo, absolutely right.
29:14That goes down to 52.
29:16Well done.
29:16Ian and Akin,
29:17after one question,
29:18you are up 1-0.
29:19Very well played.
29:20So let's have a look
29:21at the other answers.
29:22D is dingy.
29:2557.
29:26That would have scored.
29:26Do you know what D is,
29:27obviously, Zander?
29:28D is a ferry.
29:29Yeah.
29:29Big score.
29:31Highest on the board,
29:3285.
29:33He didn't get called out.
29:35Do you know what he is?
29:36Do you know what it is, though?
29:37It's a...
29:38I've seen it before, though.
29:40I've seen it in action.
29:41I mean,
29:42pontoon?
29:43It is a pontoon.
29:44And six is what
29:45it would have scored you.
29:46I wouldn't have risked that.
29:47But yeah, wow.
29:49Thank you very much indeed.
29:50Right, well,
29:51here comes your second question,
29:52Andrew and Millie.
29:52You get to answer it first,
29:53but you've got to win it
29:54to stay in the game.
29:54So good luck.
29:55Our second question
29:56is all about...
29:58songs with lots of na-na's.
30:02Trevor?
30:02Yeah, when you're lost for a word
30:04or a lyric,
30:05you just put a na in,
30:06you know,
30:06it's a well known thing
30:07in the music business.
30:09We're going to play you clips
30:10from five UK top 40 singles
30:13in which you can hear
30:14the syllable na sung repeatedly.
30:17Please tell us the name
30:18of the singers or groups
30:19that perform these songs.
30:21Thank you very much indeed.
30:23OK, let's reveal
30:24our five na-na songs.
30:26And we have song A.
30:28Here is song B.
30:48Here is song C.
31:01Na-na-na-na-na
31:05Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
31:08Na-na-na-na-na-na
31:09I need somebody to help me
31:10say it one time.
31:12Na-na-na-na-na-na
31:13Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
31:16Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na

40:35Oh, two lovely things to do with the money.
40:38Peru is your first answer.
40:39In this case, we are looking for countries that generate less than 50% of their electricity from fossil fuels.
40:44Let's see how many of our 100 said Peru.
40:48Peru is right.
40:50It just has to go all the way down to zero and you will leave here with that jackpot of £1,500.
40:56Down we go with Peru.
40:57Into single finger, still going down with Peru.
40:58Still going down, down it goes to one.
41:01OK, one person said Peru.
41:03It's very exciting.
41:06Your next answer was Switzerland.
41:07Exactly the same criteria.
41:09How many of our 100 people said Switzerland?
41:13It's also right.
41:15Well, Peru was right and took us all the way down to one.
41:19Switzerland.
41:19Absolutely on the money.
41:20Down we go through the 20s, into the teens.
41:22If this is pointless, £1,500 is yours.
41:24Down we go with Switzerland.
41:25Still going down with three, but Switzerland.
41:27OK, everything is now riding on your third and final answer, Truro.
41:34And you know this is right because Chloe went.
41:36Was this a city that hosted a COP climate conference?
41:43Let's hope it's pointless.
41:44Truro.
41:44Ah, no!
41:49I think I know what that was, but Trevor will tell us.
41:52But yes, I'm afraid that is incorrect.
41:54I'm so sorry you therefore haven't won our jackpot today.
41:57But you have won our pointless trophy.
41:59So very, very well done indeed for winning that.
42:02Trevor.
42:03Andrew and Millie.
42:04Oh, so close.
42:06I'm afraid Truro hasn't hosted the COP conference.
42:09It was a G7 conference that was hosted in Cornwall in 2021.
42:14Perhaps that's what Chloe went to.
42:16She did.
42:16Shall we have a look at some pointless answers anyway?
42:19Starting with the COP climate change conference host cities.
42:23Kyoto, Montreal, Sharm el-Sheikh and Warsaw.
42:28They're all pointless answers.
42:29The only scoring answers were Paris, Glasgow, Berlin, Dubai, Geneva,
42:36Madrid, Copenhagen and Doha.
42:38Everything else was pointless.
42:39Moving on to countries that generate less than 50% of electricity from fossil fuels.
42:44Here are some of the pointless answers you could have had.
42:46Bhutan, Brazil, Ethiopia, Portugal.
42:51I mean, there were lots more pointless answers, including Albania, Bulgaria,
42:54Cambodia, Central African Republic, Costa Rica, Kenya, Lithuania,
43:00Luxembourg, Namibia, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay and Venezuela.
43:04Very well done at home if you got a pointless answer.
43:07Thanks very much, Trevor.
43:08Oh, sorry, Andrew and Millie.
43:10I'm sorry you didn't win our jackpot today.
43:11That will therefore roll over onto the next show
43:13when we will be playing for £2,500.
43:18Join us then to see if someone can win it.
43:20Meanwhile, it's goodbye from Trevor.
43:23And it's goodbye from me.
43:24Goodbye.
