00:00Floriade has wrapped up for another year, but for green thumbs, today is when the real
00:07magic begins.
00:09Thousands of people have turned out with their shovels, garden forks and secateurs to dig
00:14up and take home as many blooms and bulbs as they can manage.
00:19Just shy of a million flowers were planted at Floriade this year, including up to half
00:24a million tulip bulbs, so there's plenty of colour on offer.
00:28It's a complete free-for-all here, and some people are taking the job very seriously,
00:33while others are just soaking up the beautiful spring weather.
00:36My wife is running around somewhere after pink ones, but for me it's just the enjoyment
00:42of the day.
00:43We have been to one before, yes, but we arrived too late and didn't get many bulbs, so we were
00:47here early this morning.
00:49It's so lovely to see all sorts of gardeners, young and old, coming to the park and digging
00:54up the flowers, from little kids all the way to the elderly as well.
00:59And it's so nice to see these flowers are going to Canberra's Gardens, and they'll
01:04have a little bit of Floriade in their own backyard.
01:07Organisers are hoping to sell up to 5,000 gardening bags, raising up to $100,000 for YWCA
01:14Canberra to support housing for vulnerable women and children.
01:18Today's Bold Dig wraps up what organisers have described as another successful Floriade,
01:24with record attendance through the gates on the opening weekend.
