00:02It's beginning to look a lot like spring, and that means Floriade is about to start.
00:08The weather's been ideal, the conditions have brought the garden beds to life.
00:14We've seen vibrant colours, the designs are clearly visible from the Ferris wheel.
00:20More than one million blooms have been planted in designs to fit this year's theme, Feast of Flowers.
00:26There's fairy bread, a blooming barbecue, and the famous Women's Weekly Duck Cake.
00:32It's a proven drawcard for tourists. You see hotel occupancies really spike at this time of year.
00:40More than half a million people visited Floriade last year, making it the biggest festival in the event's history.
00:46And organisers are hoping they'll have an even bigger crowd over the next four weeks.
00:51But with construction on light rail and Commonwealth Avenue Bridgeworks ongoing, the message is plan ahead.
00:57There'll be free shuttle buses to get people to and from Commonwealth Park.
01:02So that services the National Triangle and the city on a loop.
01:05So there's lots of parking in the National Triangle.
01:08There's parking all throughout the city that's serviced through that.
01:11It's not hard. It's actually very easy.
01:13So if I could plead with the media not to make this a story about this is a hard event
01:18to get to, it isn't.
01:19The gates open to the public tomorrow. Floriade runs until October 11.
