00:00Cam Jones, he has a hip also, he's been evaluated.
00:03Same thing with Garrett.
00:05All right, so Garrett had a couple things that happened in the game.
00:07He went back in the game on one with his hip,
00:10and he came out again in that same situation.
00:13So I'll figure out what that is.
00:15Disappointing game.
00:18Man, I thought our guys fought their asses off.
00:21Obviously wasn't good enough.
00:24It's tough being close.
00:26At some point, we've got to finish one of these here,
00:29and that's been something that we talk about, about how we finish.
00:34And we didn't finish the way that we needed to to go and get this win.
00:37Give those guys a lot of credit.
00:40Defensively, they were all over the place when it comes to their defense.
00:44But I thought our defense played well.
00:47It was probably our best game, you know, our defense.
00:50Guys, the takeaway, I think we were on the better end of the penalties,
00:55which is positive on both ends.
00:57But offensively, I mean, they gave it to us, and we all saw that.
01:03I don't know how many yards we averaged per rush,
01:05maybe three-some yards a carry.
01:07I know we ran the ball quite a bit.
01:10Our passing game was nonexistent,
01:12and that's something that we've got to get better at.
01:13Those guys did a really good job of pressuring our quarterback,
01:16and they are a team that pressures quite a bit.
01:18So we knew that going in, and it was tough.
01:23It was tough.
01:24But there were a lot of good things from a defensive perspective,
01:27from a special teams perspective that we're going to build on,
01:32and maybe we're going to go back to the drawing board
01:33and get some things cleaned up on our offensive side
01:35and get ready to go to the next game.
01:37So we put ourselves in this hole.
01:39We're 0-6, and we claim that.
01:43But we're going to continue to work and get better.
01:45That's what we have to do.
01:47That's what we have to do.
01:48All right, any questions?
01:49How do you process being 0-6?
01:52I might imagine this is not something to force off.
01:55The same way I process it when I was in Detroit,
01:59and we were at that.
02:00It is what it is, and you've got to keep working.
02:03And no one's going to feel sorry for you.
02:06So in the same way a lot of these other coaches
02:08that I've talked to that was in this situation, same thing.
02:13It's not like this hasn't happened to other teams before.
02:16We have to keep fighting our ass off,
02:17and we've got to keep building on the positive that we've shown
02:19and keep working.
02:21I know you like to watch the film before you fall to the value,
02:23but I'm passing him by minus, so I'm in net yards, I think.
02:26That speaks for itself.
02:27But Justin in particular, do you feel like he was hesitant
02:30to go in the way?
02:31I want to see it.
02:32I want to see it.
02:33I will say this.
02:35When you have a team that pressures that much
02:38and play that much man coverage,
02:40sometimes you've just got to give you guys a chance
02:41to win a one-on-one.
02:43Again, I don't want to just stamp that,
02:46but I will think, because of the way they play,
02:48and I know how advance calls a game,
02:50that sometimes you've got to give you guys a chance
02:52in those one-on-one situations.
02:54Can you tell us what happened at the end of the first half
02:56with not running a play?
02:59Yeah.
03:00So I knew we were getting the ball back,
03:02and I think it was like third and seven or third and eight.
03:05And at that point, we didn't know if we got the first down or not,
03:08because I know one ref was saying yes, and the other one was no.
03:10So once we got the fourth down, guys,
03:11I'm not about to sit there and try to get a playoff,
03:14and they will get the ball back.
03:15And I think they had a timeout left
03:16and give them a chance to kick a field goal.
03:18I don't think that's the smartest thing to do.
03:20So let's just end the half, we get the ball back,
03:22and see if we can get a chance to score.
03:23Do you think you showed enough urgency on that drive,
03:27even before that play?
03:28Just, you got the ball back with three minutes left.
03:31Do you think there was enough urgency altogether on that drive?
03:33On the last drive?
03:34The last drive in the first half.
03:35The last drive in the first half.
03:36You know, I think we did show enough urgency.
03:39The thing is, I knew that we were getting the ball back.
03:42And we talked about this as a staff.
03:43I want to put us in a situation to where, man, let's go,
03:46let's try to get some points at halftime and we get the ball back
03:49in the second half, then we'll try to get points again.
03:52So that was the whole mindset of that.
03:54The thing I didn't want to do is give those guys the ball back.
03:57You know, it happened to us, I think it happened to us last week.
04:01We ended up giving the team the ball back.
04:02And I don't want to put our guys in a situation like that again.
04:05So I think the smart thing to do was, man,
04:07can we run this clock all the way down?
04:09Can we get points?
04:10And then can we come back to the second half and get points again?
04:13Garrett seemed pretty upset when he was walking off the field.
04:15At the end of the first half, was that what it was about?
04:17And what did you talk?
04:18It seemed like he calmed down.
04:19I mean, he's a competitive person.
04:21I mean, who wouldn't be pissed when, you know,
04:26when things are not going right, you know, on the offensive side of the ball.
04:29So, I mean, you guys know how he is.
04:30I mean, that's not going to change.
04:31I like that about him.
04:33You know, when things are not going right, he gets pissed.
04:36In the final two-minute drive, you just got in the first down.
04:40The passing game wasn't going well all day.
04:42Did you think of running it on that first down?
04:43I think Justin got sacked on that.
04:45Yeah.
04:46I think, again, I think we were having like three yards a carry.
04:50I mean, yes, I can easily say we couldn't ran the ball.
04:53And that's always hindsight.
04:54But, man, we were trying to get ourselves in the position to where we can get to
04:57that 35-40 and get a chance to give us a field goal in that situation.
05:01Where is the line for the field goal there, A.G.?
05:04Is that a field goal?
05:04Well, 35 for us.
05:07Yeah, 35 for us.
05:08I mean, I know our guy, he kicked a 58-yard.
05:11That was his career long.
05:13So, man, we can get to the 35.
05:15We felt like we were really good in that situation.
05:16Is there any consideration there on you guys where I think it would have been 64?
05:20Yeah, so it would have been 64.
05:21I mean, yeah, that's tough.
05:24Again, we just said his line was 35, and we're talking about nine yards back.
05:27I'd say, like, if his career long was 58, which he did this year.
05:30We were 58, and I think we was, I think it was with the wind and all that.
05:35So, I just thought that was tough.
05:38A.G., I understand you probably want to watch the film.
05:40Yep.
05:41But Justin's numbers are not good for this game.
05:44Is he going to be your quarterback next week?
05:47Come on, man, what kind of question is that?
05:48Well, you did not have a good game.
05:50I mean, I think it's a fair play.
05:51There's a number of guys that, you know, I mean, sometimes this league is like this,
05:55and there are guys that have bad games.
05:57That doesn't mean you just bench them.
05:59Come on, you know better than that.
06:01The struggles have been, you guys are on six, though.
06:03Yep.
06:03This isn't, you know, a team that's two and three or three and three.
06:07No doubt.
06:07The quarterback has a bad game.
06:08It's been, Justin's played a role in some of these offensive struggles.
06:11No doubt.
06:12Everybody's played a role in that.
06:13So, it's not just Justin, because I understand where you guys are trying to take this.
06:17But, listen, there's a number of other guys that, you know,
06:20got to pick their game up, too.
06:21So, I don't want to sit there and pin this all on Justin.
06:24The broadcast, the television broadcast, is showing a lot of plays where Justin had not been sacked yet.
06:30The ball's in his hand, and guys are open.
06:32Yeah.
06:32Well, I got to see it on tape.
06:34I don't know where they are on the reads.
06:34But if he's not pulling the trigger,
06:36don't you kind of owe it to the rest of the guys on offense to give a guy another chance
06:40to be the one to throw the ball to?
06:42Well, I don't see that, you know.
06:44Sometimes we've got to get him to operate a certain way.
06:47I mean, that happens to a lot of guys.
06:49You just can't sit there and say, oh, man, we're going to bench him because this.
06:52I thought some other games he's played well.
06:54So, I'm not looking at this as just, man, he played a bad game.
06:57I'm going to bench him.
06:58I don't see it that way.
06:59Last one.
07:02Before the first game, you told us, last four minutes of each half are the head coaches.
07:06Absolutely.
07:07Last four minutes of the first half didn't go great for you guys today.
07:10Last four minutes didn't go great today.
07:12Yeah.
07:13I see it last week in Dallas, first half.
07:15Yeah.
07:15How do you feel like you've done it?
07:17I think the decisions have been the correct decisions.
07:21You know, sometimes we just didn't execute it.
07:22And that's okay.
07:23Just like today's decision was, man, I do not want to give this offense the ball back
07:27after 49 with a timeout.
07:29I mean, with time on the clock.
07:31I don't think that's smart.
07:32I think what we did, no one was going to get the ball back at second half.
07:35Man, let's keep it.
07:35You know, even on this one, we ended up moving the ball, you know, fairly well.
07:40You know, we just didn't get a chance to, those guys sending a whole lot of pressure
07:43and sack our quarterback.
07:44So, we didn't execute.
07:45I think, you know, I didn't want to put a 45-yard field goal, a 65-yard field goal on our kicker,
07:54and he's never done that.
07:56You know, we set the line with the 35.
07:58So, listen, I do know this.
08:01I can improve in those situations too, though.
08:03You know, I'm not going to sit there and just put on the player.
08:06That's on me also, you know, a number of things.
08:11But we all have to work together to get better at those things too, though.
08:13Thanks, everyone.
08:14Justin's coming in next.
08:15All right.
08:16Okay.
